Michael Cunningham, The Hours
For the longest time, I fantasized saying, "You're not real."
You're not real.
You only exist as much as I allow you to.
Nowadays, you're just an afterthought. An idea from a feeling a lifetime ago.
I can't wait for you to be truly gone.
Never not rebloging it!
What a weary time those years were - to have the desire and the need to live but not the ability.
Charles Bukowski, Ham on Rye
“Sadness is a wolf. You could think you’ve built everything strong but with a woosh, sadness can huff & puff & blow all that happy down.”
— Raych Jackson, from Even The Saints Audition
there was this boy once, who told me that my eyes reminded him of the ocean.
but my eyes aren’t blue. and for the longest time, i believed i was someone who had nothing more to offer than storms and shipwrecks.
everyone joined in on the war. and i was left with failure the shape of missiles clogging up my throat. i had oil spills turn me blacker than nightsky. it was the first in a lifetime that birds didn’t fly. and no matter how many times the rain comes, i can’t be rid of this filth. and it turned my stomach into a battleground with wounded soldiers’ and dead soldiers’ footprints engraved into the soft earth like those were sufficient enough evidence of life once lived.
i never wanted any of this. something with wings made of metal fall from the clouds and it hit me that oceans aren’t made to be blue.
that they were made to be bluer for the secrets they held inside. that that’s the reason why it’s so quiet down there. that that’s why it’s the only place Einstein’s war could be detonated without having to sacrifice so many of us.
the next time waves come throwing themselves at your feet like you are some god, remember the blood that turned them into blooming roses once. remember how they could turn black with fishes forgetting how to swim. remember that they’re actually made of a thousand weeping souls swimming eternally in their own grief.
remember that boy who had the nerve to call your eyes an ocean.

“Adults guess and assume that I’m not going to understand things just because I’m a little kid. And it can be frustrating. Cause, like, I really want to know stuff. Or even when they do talk to me about things, they’ll always try to ‘tone it down to my level.’ They especially avoid the heavy themes like sex and death and cannibalism and stuff. But that’s stuff I want to talk about. I’m really fascinated by the Donner Party. The entire expedition, really. What did it feel like to eat people that you knew? I’m also fascinated by how the human mind deals with death. It’s like people shut down the idea of death completely, and insist that heaven and hell are places after death. But death is death. And everyone after death is dead, because consciousness is just your brain. And even if there is evidence of life after death, it’s difficult to assess. We’re going to be incredibly biased toward any information that suggests there’s something more. Because we are so desperate to believe it.”
From Dave Harris’ book, PATRICIDE.
“And may we always stay grounded. Rooted. Our feet planted firmly onto the earth.”

Understand me. I’m not like an ordinary world. I have my madness, I live in another dimension and I do not have time for things that have no soul.
Charles Bukowski (via wordsnquotes)
