PSA - Night Court Symbol Use
The Night Court Symbol is a really famous symbol within the acotar community. The version linked above I created myself in Photoshop, based on this official acotar pin design by @ louisse_ang and @ nicolajwilkinson on twitter.
As it is not my original design, I did not and will not monetise it. No one, except the original creators/sjmaas has the rights to sell and make money of it.
So, when I see my version of the symbol being uploaded to society6 / redbubble etc., I get majorly pissed off. I won’t link examples because I don’t want to witch hunt, but I’ve been filing DMCA takedowns for the past hour.
Please, everyone. If it’s not your original work, you have no right to monetise it, claim it as your own, re-upload it elsewhere, etc. Would you like to use it as your profile pic? Sure, as long as you credit. Want to get a tattoo of it? Sure. Personal use is fine.
But make money off of it? Claim it as yours? No. This goes for all artwork, regardless of fandom or creator. Stealing artwork is never acceptable.
I find it disgusting that people are actively making money on art that isn’t theirs. You don’t do this kind of thing by accident.
I know it sucks that the most popular/recognise-able symbol in the acotar universe is not available for purchase outside of the official acotar pins, but please, if you see someone selling this design that isn’t an official source:
DO NOT SUPPORT THEM BY PURCHASING IT.
