𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 : the grind 𝐰𝐡𝐨 : astrid and anyone !
astrid stood in line at the grind, her feet aching from what had to be the longest shift of her life. her original plan after work was to head straight home, but first, she desperately needed a caffeine boost. impatiently, she tapped her foot, glancing at her watch and then back at the menu, silently cursing people in front of her for taking so long. "come on, it's just coffee, not a life decision," she mumbled under her breath, thinking no one could hear, as she sighed and checked her phone for distractions.
dolly lived and breathed iced coffee. something about dangling a clear plastic cup in their hand as they gestured wildly, stopping to take the occasional sip, made them feel powerful. maybe she was still too much of a square to take up cigarettes so a disposable tumbler would have to take its place. regardless, she found herself in front of the grind yet again, just behind astrid. being privy to her internal monologue gave her deja vu, knowing how outspoken queen bee was. she smirked at the comment, doing her best to keep a poker face but failing terribly. after a moment of chewing at her lip to simmer the smile, she spoke up. "you know, that's actually quite blasphemous to my belief system?" she teased. "bad coffee can make or break your day."
