Hii! I'm writing (or trying to at least) and illustrating my own graphic novel, and I need some help with a few things, specifically:

🌸 LGBT+ characters

🌸 BIPOC characters

🌸 Characters w/ mental health issues and illnesses

I want to be inclusive, but I don't want it to take away from the storyline or have it outshine the actual plot.

Give me your thoughts, how you would like something to be represented in media, and what to avoid.

im sorry but fandom spaces actually do have a smut addiction problem. EVERY FANFIC I FIND IS SMUT, where are the well written slow burns and angst and fluff :(

i cant even find yandere content without it being haunting adeline 2.0, like whyyyyyyy

2019 was actually fanfic peak year, the fanfics i was finding were amazing

new gens (uninformed ones, newgens definitely can write good fanfiction but i feel like most cant), ai, and porn addictions are killing fanfic as an art form

I think the reason why I hated Fluttercord as a ship so much growing up and still to this day hate it is because I related so heavily to Fluttershy and she was one of my favourite characters and I was so heavily traumatised by bronies that kept making really weird and sexual mlp fanart that Discord kind of felt like a brony self insert that wanted to get with Fluttershy

Like idk if that's just me, it could also have been the fact that Discord kind of always treated Fluttershy poorly and I had an innate hate for characters that were annoying and rude

Idk but fluttercord has always given me the heebie jeebies, and other fans in the fandom (mostly new gens) have made comments like "oh it was gonna be canon but they scrapped it because of bronies!!" and "fluttershy confessed that she wanted to marry discord" and so on but it was never actually canon??

I feel like fluttercord is literally only a ship because to most people a guy and a girl surely have to be dating if theyre super close outside of family relations :/

Racism on TikTok and the subject of blackwashing/whitewashing

I've been seeing on my tiktok this drama with an artist who made a ddlc animation meme with redesigned characters to fit more African American appearance. Personally, I think if you want to play with redesigning characters with different races that's fine, however you have to be careful and there needs to be a clear discussion of nuance with this.

However, this creator didn't just raceswap and call it a day. She is actively saying that certain skin colours, that are on the lighter spectrum (psst, of course Asian characters in an Asian game from an Asian country are going to have light skin if that is the norm), are ugly. I know people are saying it's ragebait, but it honestly just feels so racist and discriminatory??

I know people are very much "people of lighter skin can't experience racism!!", but I feel like people just don't understand history enough.

Racism can happen to any person, regardless of their skin tone. Slavery didn't only happen to certain people, discrimination didn't only happen to certain people, detainment and police brutality do not happen to only certain people. These are not contained to one race or skin colour, and to say that they are is completely intelligently lacking in the discussion of race and discrimination. There are overlaps in all of these subjects, and to believe that one cannot be discriminated against simply for being lighter skinned is ridiculous.

I fear that a lot of "proshippers" aren't actually anti harassment, or at least they're only anti harassment when it comes to people in the proship community. The only reasons why they use the label are that they want to justify their online activity and steer clear of harassment over such, but many are very happy to harass others that disagree with them. Am I saying that's every single proshipper? No, but it's a large number of their community.

Breaking dnis, collectively banding together to argue with other creators, stealing content, sending hurtful messages, sending pornographic media, stalking, and online defamation of character are all examples of harassment that I have witnessed being committed by proshippers.

Be better, use your label correctly and abide by its "core values" or don't use it at all. It's that simple.

You cannot use the words "anti harassment" and harass people in the same breath, it's just silly and quite frankly manipulative.

Starting off strong with Fluttershy (both her pony and equestria girl forms), animals and people are the two main things that I've been prioritising for years because they're such key items in art

I know that the art style differs a little from each illustration, but I swear it's because I mimic my references 🥀 I'm not a thief guys I swear

Was looking up anti proshipping and proshipping to see if it was just as bad on TikTok and this:

Is what I come across. Can we not joke around about abusing our children? Sometimes it can be a little funny as dark humour (as in verbalising your childhood trauma comedically), but this clearly isn't dark humour at all. This is communicating that you'd take your frustrations of a community out on your child. It's weird, and as a victim of child abuse I think it's terrible.

Don't go on TikTok and harass this person by the way, I'm pretty sure they are a minor (younger than me actually) and I do not endorse the bullying or harassment of minors. Just if you see them, report and block.

I fear that with Google search becoming less and less useful and only showing sponsored content, generative AI such as ChatGPT is becoming more encouraged and more useful

I'm all for AI usage so long as it is ethical, but with the way AI needs to be trained and how it has been used there isn't much ethically usage to begin with

AI is great, but I fear people are becoming too reliant on it and also are replacing workers (artists and designers especially) because AI is free and quick 💔
