National Theatre Connections - 19/11/2014
Today we created tableauxs for Mr Ellodys life and different things he had been through.
We got split into two groups and were given a scenario of The Wedding as our first tableaux. We then put our groups together and created a bigger version of The Wedding but then had to change one aspect of the image to change the purpose.
One person was stopping the wedding which created a tense situation. We couldn't really react to her as it would have been a split second choice to object to the wedding and jump between the Bride and Groom.
The next aspect to change was the Mother-In-Law who turned to glare at the ring bearer next to her because the night before, he had told the Bride that he was in love with her and would object to the wedding. The Mother-In-Law is prepared to jump in front of him if he did object. We then made the Mother-In-Law be less subtle and just stand staring at the ring barer instead of having her arms crossed and look really annoyed with him.
Our next tableaux was of a Riot. We started this off with one person within the Riot and slowly added more people into the scene.
To make a change, I turned around and was calling the police but was so scared of being caught about this because I didn't want to be within the Riot. Another actor then changed to turn around and spot me calling the Police whilst fighting someone else. Then another actor changed to run away from the Riot because she was scared.
This was a tableaux to do with our Accordion Shop play because it is about Rioting and wrecking the city around them.
We wanted another tableaux which was to do with the Accordion Shop. This was when the kids are all about to leave school.
Our first shot was all of the kids making a mess in the classroom with an energy level of 10. They were throwing paper at each other or sitting about and talking.
The subtle change was a Year 9 class who were stereotypical with when they are about to leave school as the bell has gone for the end of the day. This was without students standing on chairs. We were a little more focused in the scene but were still distracted as students.
Our final change was a normal Year 9 class who were slouched back in their seats, didn't really want to listen to the teacher and were tired of being within school all day.
After this we split off into two separate groups again and chose four different tableau's for Mr Ellodys life.
1) Mr Ellody Senior showing his son the accordions
2) Mr Ellody Seniors death with his son and others by his side
3) Mr Ellody going off to university with his friends
4) The students throwing their chicken shop rubbish into the accordion shop doorway and wrecking the shop.
Next we got into partners and were melting into two different tableau's, our first one was getting a position of Hope and melting down into Despair. We then done Surprise and Pleasant Surprise. We went through these a few times to make them flow and got into groups of 4 again.
In our new groups, we chose two tableuxs.
One was a traditional photo and the next was a modern day photo.
This was our traditional photo. No one was smiling in this because in the olden days, people refused to smile either because their teeth were rotting, or because it was only the poor to be seen smiling. To be seen as smiling, you were not a good person, you were innocent or entertained.
This is our modern day photo. Everyones body posture is very different because teenagers are casual and would take a 'selfie' no matter where they are.
They all pose within photos. Its a trend to take a selfie with your group of friends.
We then took our selfie modern day photo, as a real photo. This is pretty accurate from the tableaux but we are just closer together.
