victoria pushed open the door to the pet store and awaited an onslaught of primal reactions that ranged from silence to cacophony in the reptiles, avians, and mammals of assorted variety. it was a marvelous thing, really. while usually, vix phased through the door and would not have caused such a commotion; today, she carried in her arms a small box lined with a very, very, very old but well loved quilt. thankfully, the little mewling critters inside were still far too lively for that sort of intangibility.
"I hate to do this to you again..." the apology was lukewarm at best. of course she hated the circumstances, but it was far better that amyris was able to foster any animals and eventually find families for them than the alternative. "but someone left another box in the shipyard. three kittens. I found them last night on the way home. do you happen to have enough room for them?" this was not the first box of this nature that vix had brought by. the shipyard could be a very cold place for more reasons than just the temperature.
Amyris was so caught up in her book that she hardly heard the door to the shop open, and it wasn't until there was a distinctly not-animal voice added to the cacophony that she looked up. Her eyes widened with surprise as she took in the small package within her arms. Kitten season always left the shop overflowing - but Amyris was too tender-hearted to ever turn away a living soul. She knew it would bankrupt her eventually (and had it not been for her back-room dealings, it would have already), but she slept better at night knowing she was providing the best care she could to the creatures under her care.
"Babies?" A soft sigh left her lips; feigned, really, because Vix already knew Amyris would take in the little felines. It was the species closest to her own heart, after all. Her feline companions were wandering towards the other woman, winding around her ankles with tails raised and shaking - hoping to procure treats from their new visitor. "I really shouldn't..." she came out from behind the counter and peeked inside the box, heart melting at the sight of the kittens. "Ugh. How can I turn them away?" Her lip stuck out in a pout as she reached to collect the box from Vix, before pulling into a crooked smirk. "I'll tell ya what... I'll make room for these sweet babies if you can spread the word around to anyone and everyone that I am up to my ears in all sorts of critters looking for a good home." Amyris added a playful wink for emphasis.
