Sometimes, though swaying others into doing undesirable work, convincing them to do so exhausts more time and energy than it would to simply do it. But where was the fun in that? It is a practice that establishes anything from respect to fear. It simply depends on the person.
Courtney, however⌠spilled with such apparent reverence that the process remained as easy as ever, especially now that Team Magma is no more. The groupâs undoing exposed him for many thingsâ a fraud and a lunatic being only a fewâ and with that in consideration, he was left with little to no support when he insisted on pressing forward with a new design. She seemed to be the only one left, and while that meant that her work would be more than doubled, that rare gleam in her eye suggested that also made it more personal.
And in a way⌠it is.
He turned and greeted her, and the corner of Courtneyâs lips twitched, ever so slightly. It was as if she wanted to smile, but she didnât want to show that kind of emotion in front of Maxie. This was strictly professional to her...wasnât it?
For a moment, a split second, Courtney found herself questioning what she was doing. But that all but melted away at his touch, his hands on her shoulders. Courtney just could not bring herself to separate fully from Team Magma. Not as long as Maxie was still involved. She was intoxicated by him.
