[ARTICLE] 170121 BTS AND BIGHIT’S DONATION OF 100 MILLION WON TO THE ‘416 FAMILY COUNCIL’

BTS and their agency Big Hit Entertainment donated 100 million won (t/n: approx 85,000 USD) to the 4/16 family council composed of the families who have been suffering and are affected by the Sewol ferry tragedy.

The seven members each donated 10 million all of them with 70 million won and Big Hit, having added 30 million for a total donation of 100 million won.

It’s very meaningful for BTS to donate a large amount of money regardless of the circumstances in which the names of the artists associated with the Sewol ferry disaster are blacklisted, giving them a disadvantage.

Prior to this, the fans of BTS had donated relief goods and supplies to Jindo during the time of the Sewol ferry disaster. Both fans and the artists are continuing their warm acts in many ways.

The donation was not revealed as they think donations should be done privately. BTS was determined to console the families of the Sewol victioms even if it’s just a little bit, and (they) collectively decided not to publicize it.
