A sigh escaped Sasha’s lips as she reached into the oven, mitts protecting her hands as she did so, and pulled out perfectly formed layers to what was going to be a salted caramel cake filled with salted caramel buttercream, and set it on the counter to cool. Though her life was pretty much shit at the moment she still had to work and make money so she was making a cake for a client while Wesley’s was slow. The girl was just about to lean against the counter and take a bit of a rest when a crash was heard from the front of the restaurant. Turns out one of her waitresses had dropped a tray of water so Sasha told the girl not to worry about it and sent her home for the rest of the day leaving them short by one person for the day. So Sasha did the only thing she could do and started to clean the mess she was about halfway done when someone walked in. “I’ll be with you in a minute, sorry about the mess.” The dark girl called out only glancing briefly at the person.
Ana hadn’t heard from her sister...friend in a few days. She had never seen her the day they texted and figured something had gone on that she needed to take care of. Figuring she’d be in her shop she decided to pay her a visit with her daughter in tow. Entering the building she let Sloane grab a table that they would sit in. Seeing Sasha on the ground cleaning she went over and helped her out shaking her head. ‘--No no, take your time, it’s just Sloane and I. You never came by that night..everything okay?’
“Ooh that one stings, but you’re not going to hurt me with words.”
‘--Y’know you’re right. I was thinking more along the lines of using this.’ She rose her fist raising a brow smirking. ‘I like to think my years in training will pay off and cause a lot more pain then small words.’
“Hmm..checked myself, I’m completely fine.”
‘You sure? Because from here your nose looks a little broken.’
Send me a ☼ for my character's reaction to having found yours, fast asleep and half hanging off of the bed/couch.
“Sorry, did I stutter?”
‘--Oh wow. Hm..we have ourselves an asshole. You might want to check yourself.’
jacksonxparker:
“You gonna keep wasting my time, or make it worth my while?”
‘--Excuse me?’
Hearing his daughter panic like that pulled at his heart like no other. Sloane truly looked scared just from moving from one area to another, but it wasn’t as if Anastasia was being calm about the whole situation and that had to set the little girl off. “Anastasia, please. Calm down, calm down for Sloane at least.” Touching her didn’t help, though. She seemed to get angry, and he was sure that Sloane was scared to death. Then Anastasia began crying and he fought himself from touching her cheek. “Anastasia, mio tesoro please don’t cry.” When she began to walk away, Lorenzo said something a little louder just enough so she could here. “I’m not married, Ana.”
As he told her to calm down she whipped back and pointed a finger at him. ‘--Don’t tell me to calm down Levi...’ She started before keeping Sloane behind her again. She wanted to prevent this moment for as long as she could, nothing could have prepared her for this. She felt another tear roll down her cheek as he called her his treasure...it was a name he always used for her and it bought back so many memories. She couldn’t stay anymore, it hurt too much. Not to mention she was going to have to explain why she was sad to her daughter. As she walked away the words he spoke made her freeze in her tracks. Turning back once more she rose her brows lightly wiping her eyes. ‘What...?’
“It’s a date.” Brian agreed, thinking it would be quite a nice affair, he only hoped that the wine his brother produced would be somewhat decent. he nodded his head in understanding, glad that Ana didn’t think him a total monster for the way he’d responded to her questions but at least he was being honest with her, he’d promised her that much. “I think it was” he confirmed and meant it “I think you did the best by her, I think you’re always doing the best by her” he insisted. He chuckled and nodded once more “Yeah but we both know I am that person” he said with a smirk on his face, it was no secret that Brian would take people down where he could for his own benefit, even if he didn’t necessarily need to. “Complete sense, no you’re making complete sense, I get it- as strange as that is for somebody with zero experience in this stuff I do, I get it.” he said with a nod of his head “I think Bobby was almost the same with me when it came to getting to know Libby.” he suggested.
‘--It’s a date.’ she confirmed still smiling. She sat in silence a moment his revelation still processing more in her head making her think again. Did she really do the right thing those years ago? Leaving without a trace...so she thought? She also thought about what Brian would think of her for having an affair with a married man. Did he think less of her? Because she often thought less of herself at times...she never wanted to be that woman. She always said she would never be that person, never would do that. ‘I always put her first, in everything I do...Sloane first. Her well being first, how she would feel first, My life is no longer about me, hasn’t been for six years.’ She admitted with a laugh. ‘Hanging out with you like this and how we were before was the first time in a long time that I had fun for me. It’s nice.’ She sighed and kicked off her shoes bringing her legs up on the couch. ‘Yeah, you can be...but that’s you, and it screams political man.’ She smirked. ‘I’m glad you get it...finally I can talk about it you know? None of my friends really have kids...I have to talk to my own sister like a friend these days because she doesn’t even know we are related...I just live a life of secrets.’ She admitted more the drink settling in more. ‘Bobby had his reasons and you understand them, which is good...not many people would really understand or see it a certain way.’
anastasxa:
“–oh wow! That’s actually great. Oh yeah I’m sure you’re happy about that. You get the best of the best and certain first selection of the finest. I’m actually jealous.” She leaned her head over watching him pour the drinks. “Both…it’s okay. Remember we told each other nothing but the truth? So hit me with the hard stuff, I can take it.” She smiled lightly.
“Well I’m more than willing to share” he assured with a smirk on his face, it would have been unfair and rather tragic if he hoarded his brother’s samples for himself and didn’t share them with those he loved drinking with the most. He shifted only slightly. careful not to disturb Anastasia in his lap “If I was him I would have cut ties very promptly- seems you did that for him. If I saw you again, I’d probably turn the other way.” he admitted “Drama, too much drama and it’s not good for Sloane either, the confusion of it all…” he commented “Then again, I don’t know the guy. Maybe he’d be good to her, maybe he’d be good for her.” he said and shrugged. “If I were you? He’s got a lot to make up for…I’d be milking him for all he’s worth. You took the fall for him and yeah, you got an amazing little girl out of it but still, you’ve done the hard yards…his turn.” he added, taking his own drink and sipping from it.
"--absolute deal. I'll get a sitter when you get a new wine and we shall do a testing." She smiled and stayed put actually content and somewhat calmer. She still felt safe which was something she also appreciated about Brian. She reached over and grabbed her drink sitting up slightly to take a decent sized gulp shuddering after the fact before laying back to listen. She pursed her lips the the right then sighed finally speaking. "I would actually respect that. If he did decide to do that I would completely understand. What I did wasn't okay but I thought it was best for Sloane." She closed her eyes and kept talking. "Though I never ever lied to her about her father...I never said he was dead or didn't want her I just said he couldn't come see her right now, because we didn't live close enough which was the truth...plus the fact that he had a wife." She smiled lightly. "We both know I'm not that type of person...I've been supporting Sloane and all her needs thus far...I couldn't milk him for something I've had no problem doing. I guess I just need to take baby steps in letting him in her life...I'm not making any sense, am I?" She questioned, that one gulp was already slowly but surly sneaking up on her.
anastasxa:
“–don’t worry it was cute. It was actually sweet. You have redeemed yourself honestly doesn’t hurt to pick on you a little bit about it. How is your brother doing? Bobby and Libby actually.” She laid down her head on his lap as she curled up a little. “You know I tried to, I really tried to because I tried to put myself in his wife’s shoes…took my feelings out of it. He wants to be in her life as any father would…he’s already missed six years and he is desperate to meet her and just gain that time back. I feel guilty about that part…but I have been trying to justify it.” She moved on her back looking up at him. “What would you do in this position Brian?”
He nodded his head “Doing really great, actually. Bob’s getting into the wine industry which I’m sure you’re not surprised to hear that I am thrilled about.” he commented as he poured a couple of glasses of absinth, icy water running over sugar cubes to top it up. “It’s tough” he said but couldn’t think of much else to say, what did he know about that sort of thing? He was always looking out for himself. “In your position or his? I’m not sure you’d want to hear the answer to either.” he confessed, he offered his honesty but couldn’t promise his answer would be pleasant.
"--oh wow! That's actually great. Oh yeah I'm sure you're happy about that. You get the best of the best and certain first selection of the finest. I'm actually jealous." She leaned her head over watching him pour the drinks. "Both...it's okay. Remember we told each other nothing but the truth? So hit me with the hard stuff, I can take it." She smiled lightly.
anastasxa:
“You’re forgiven…don’t get me wrong still a bit bitter over it but I’m still flattered that you did such a thing.” She moved and took a seat on the couch. “It is sticky…but I mean I know he is a good guy and all but I didn’t want to cause anymore trouble for his family than I already have you know? Wow…thank you. Seriously…thank you.”
“I’m perpetually trying to make up for my horrible first impression, you know.” he assured her, following her lead once he’d grabbed the absinth from the bar. He seated himself beside her, setting the bottle, a pair of glasses and a bowl of sugar cubes on the table in front of him. He nodded his head “Sure, sure” he agreed “It sounds like you did the right thing by him. What does he want?” he asked curiously, thinking to himself what he might do in Levi’s situation. “Of course” he insisted when Anastasia thanked him, it was no secret that he was fond of Anastasia and even her little girl was growing on him, he blamed his niece for softening him up.
“–don’t worry it was cute. It was actually sweet. You have redeemed yourself honestly doesn’t hurt to pick on you a little bit about it. How is your brother doing? Bobby and Libby actually.” She laid down her head on his lap as she curled up a little. “You know I tried to, I really tried to because I tried to put myself in his wife’s shoes…took my feelings out of it. anastasxa:
‘–I’m still barely over that Fleetwood.’ She looked up at him. ‘He is…’She started then stopped. ‘Levi is Sloane’s dad…He and I got together when he was married…surprise Sloane comes out nine months later. I’ve been keeping him from her because of his family…I didn’t want to have her in that situation. Wherever we go we always seem to get money from him but I send it back.’ She pursed her lips slightly. ‘We ran into each other at Starbucks…and he saw Sloane and that was just, not the ideal situation, she just stared at him, then I got asked all the questions when we got home ‘who is he…why does he look like me…yada yada…’. Thank you Brian…I appreciate it, a lot.”
“Stil too soon?” Brian scrunched up his nose, he wasn’t a stranger to making jokes that only he found funny. “Yikes, that sounds…sticky to say the very least…so what comes next for you?”
“My pleasure, as always. You’ve got a place here whenever you need it, Sloane too.”
"You're forgiven...don't get me wrong still a bit bitter over it but I'm still flattered that you did such a thing." She moved and took a seat on the couch. "It is sticky...but I mean I know he is a good guy and all but I didn't want to cause anymore trouble for his family than I already have you know? Wow...thank you. Seriously...thank you."
“Ah, that’s not fair. I’m already stealing Bobby’s identity to some extent.”
“Found you? I…feel like i’m missing something here. Do we have to down a few drinks before you start on the details? Ah, not a problem my dear. The company is more than welcome, make yourself at home.”
‘--I’m still barely over that Fleetwood.’ She looked up at him. ‘He is...’She started then stopped. ‘Levi is Sloane’s dad...He and I got together when he was married...surprise Sloane comes out nine months later. Thank you Brian...I appreciate it, a lot.”
“So the guy’s a lawyer too? Jeez, practically stealing my identity here. If you hadn’t known him I might have read the mail out of curiosity…”
“Depends on how much you drink but…no, won’t hurt. You staying the night?”
‘--A big time one. To be honest...he is a bit older so it would be the other way around. I’m still curious as to what it says...I’m still wondering how he found us with such ease...maybe that mail is from his P.I’ She sighed then nodded. ‘Yeah...I will be.” she thought about it again and forced a slight laugh. “I’m sorry Bri...I just invited myself on over and everything. Feel free to tell me to go home.”
