It’s mother has most likely used the fake deer as cover for the fawn to sleep near. I’ve personally witnessed a doe direct a fawn to lay in a patch of tall weeds and go lay on a hill where she could see me and the tall patch of weeds. That’s what they do, find something bigger than the fawn to sleep near so they’re hidden while they sleep.
This isn’t a sad child looking for something mother-like, this is a kid getting put to bed.

those first couple weeks after escaping a time loop have gotta be disorienting as all fuck. all those little cues that used to tell you what's about to happen are now triggers that cause you to brace for something that isn't coming. you have to relearn the permanence of death -- hell, you have reacquaint yourself with the entire concept of finality altogether. everything keeps changing but it never changes back and you keep having to remind yourself that this is normal. "it won't reset anymore," you echo to yourself, over and over and over, like a broken record, like you're still trapped in a loop, like someone who escaped the time loop but was doomed to bring it into the future with them

It occurred to me that planning out a story is a lot like planning out a lesson. Whether it's a one-shot or a multichapter fic, there's an overarching goal of the story - and each chapter has a goal as well, whether that goal is plot-related or not.
So I went on Canva and grabbed the first lesson plan template I liked and I repurposed it above. I tend to go into even less detail than this when I plan my stories, but this is the kind of thing that could be expanded or shrunk depending on your need. If you don't want a pretty template, grab a pen and a notebook and do what you like.
But for people who do want to try different ways of planning out their stories, maybe take a look at lesson and curriculum planning templates. Change the words to chapter and story and away you go.
