date: august 14th, 1:03am. location: the seraphim pit. who: dante adkins and anyone.
He watched and surveyed those who entered his dominion. The hunters that would prey upon one other as they entered the Pit, bloodthirsty to win yet another fight. The meek that were more there for a wild time; drawn in by the thrill of the underworld, to be in a place that beckoned forth those to encroach upon their darker natures. A bottle of whiskey between his fingers, he briefly glanced at the individual that was closest to him as he uttered, “Come have a drink.” And whilst that might have seemed like an invitation, the invisible command lay beneath his words, as he moved towards his section to take a seat, his darkened eyes gazing at the one who stood before him.
Orders were an everyday part of Mina’s life. Always answering to someone as an anchor, so the underlying order was easily recognized. Cocking her head slightly, she followed after, if only out of curiosity. “I feel as if I should be offended that you are ordering me about,” she stated, once they came to a stop. Her lips were pressed together, as she shifted on her feet. Rubbing her palms on her jeans, she adverted her eyes to the rest of the pit. Mina liked to know those she was around, and she didn’t know enough about Dante to feel comfortable around him. “I’m not a big fan of whiskey.”
underworldkiing:
The Seraphim pit just kept on producing valuable information. Almost like a training facility, more and more Saints rushed into the pit and fought against one another, creating an advantage for Seraphim and its records. What the royal family failed to accomplish in those two decades now filled itself with ease and it was Vittorio who looked at his fellow Mobsters fighting it out in the pit, using brutal and also entertaining tactics to destroy one another.
As he was about to leave the pit to return to the Underworld, he was momentarily stopped by a much smaller, petite looking woman he knew all too well. Mina Augustine, Anchor of Royce Delacroix. “Aren’t you precious?” he teased her without thinking. Crossing his arms, he just kept staring at her as if starting a battle between them at who can stare the other down longest. “Come on,” Vittorio turned to the right and moved into one of the many spare rooms meant for Saints to relax in, which almost worked as an apartment to those who’d become homeless ever since their awakening. Closing the door behind them, the Don turned around towards her. “What do you want?”
The irritation she felt at his words caused her to shift on her feet, but her smile didn’t falter. She was used to people not taking her serious. And she had played into that for the past few years as Royce’s Anchor. Only, it had served to make her a target instead of the threat she needed to be. Keeping her eyes focused on him, she wanted nothing more than to turn around and deem this little excursion a mistake, but she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.
When he told her to come on, surprise broke across her face. Mina hadn’t been expecting that. Following along, she kept her head held high as she entered the room. Now that she was faced with the question, she didn’t know how to proceed. Thinking things through and actually doing them, were very different things. “I suppose I wanted to ask if I ended up here, exactly where you could talk to me that day on accident. What ends did it serve you for those against Royce to be removed?” She asked, folding her arms over her chest.
It had been playing in her mind since she had gone back to Royce’s side. What did Vittorio gain by urging her to remove those threats? Why had someone from Seraphim even brought her there in the first place? She didn’t have any dealings with them.
morriganledoux:
Convincing the youngest Anchor to spy for her turned out to be much more difficult than expected. She couldn’t blame her at all – Royce had this power over others, he knew how to fully captivate and win them for their cause, Mina wasn’t an exception. As his Anchor she must’ve been incredibly loyal to him for the past years, but taking Royce out of the equation seemed like the best option to get something in return.
“There’s someone within the castle I used to be fairly close to,” Morrigan confessed “you may read my mind and see their face, but if you speak to them about me, speak to anyone about me, I’ll have to banish you in purgatory. Am I understood?” Morrigan remained calm, extremely calm – “and I intend to find out more about other Saints. As much as you did, I assume, I awoke at one of my personal heights – I’d like to find others who struggle as much as I did.”
She couldn’t stop herself from seeking out who Morrigan meant within the other’s mind. It was potentially dangerous, spying on the King, but the reward far outweighed it. Lips tugging into a smile, Mina simply nodded. Even still, her parents deaths haunted her, that she had survived when they couldn’t. To be able to speak to them again, she couldn’t stop herself from doing what she could.
“None shall hear about you from me,” Mina said, the words slipping from her mouth easily. She could examine how easily the vow had flowed from her when she wasn’t around others. Wetting her lips, she nodded once more. “What do you want to do once your find others who struggle? Help them?” The question was out before she could stop herself, curiosity truly getting the better of her.
rubendalgaard:
The Athos air was thick with confusion and fear, albeit Ruben Dalgaard was engulfed in almost complete silence as he walked down the street. He eyed those he walked passed in search of any character that stood out from the rest, but he knew he wouldn’t find an enemy in the current crowd - not yet, anyways. There seemed to be a quiet agreement among the people to avoid confronting the mysterious hysteria that had occurred a few days prior until they were properly presented with someone to blame for their actions.
He tensed when someone grabbed his arm, then relaxed at the familiar face. He and Mina had never interacted much, but he easily recognized her as Royce’s saint from his time spent with Emilia. “You’re lucky if you missed it. Everyone lost their fucking minds for a minute,” he answered. Though not much of an explanation, it was the best he could offer. “There was fighting and…” Briefly, he glanced around. “It’s going to take more than that to clean this mess.”
She was surprised to see the familiar face in the person she had grabbed, but it eased her worry. Hearing about the destruction that had befallen Athos and seeing it first hand were completely different. It left her on edge, wondering when the next shoe might drop in their lives. “it seems that it was longer than a minute,” she murmured, letting her eyes trace the streets around them.
“Do they have any idea what caused people to lose their minds?” she asked, not really hopeful for an answer. As a part of the Anchor forces, she knew she would be told when vital information was discovered, but it didn’t stop her from wondering if Ruben was privy to information that she wasn’t. Something that could affect the masses as it had a few days prior was dangerous. “It just doesn’t make sense.”
theonlyjeanne:
Jeanne had been exhausted. So exhausted that after a long night of being the king she’d simply collapsed into bed, forgetting about who she was. When she’d gotten Mina’s text she’d jumped out of bed, knowing the girl wasn’t one to ask for help willy nilly. Jeanne wasn’t one to make friends easily but she and Mina had instantly clicked. The girl seemed like a ray of light in an otherwise dark world and with all the chaos going on Jeanne needed all the light she could get.
She knocked on the door, seeing her hand and realizing just a moment too late that she’d never changed back. Oops! At Mina’s words Jeanne instantly changed back, laughing. “I’m sorry! Did I scare you? I completely forgot I wasn’t myself. One of the hazards of the job.” This rarely happened but when it did it always made of a memorable story.
As her friend’s features morphed back into her own, Mina tried to calm her ragged breath and pounding heart. Rubbing her sweating palms on her legs, she pushed a smile onto her lips. “It was just a surprise seeing Him outside my door. I don’t do very well with surprises these days,” she said, a hollow laugh falling from her lips.
Stepping away from the entrance, she motioned for Jeanne to come in and closed the door behind her. “I’m glad you could come. Really, thank you,” Mina said, chewing on her bottom lip as her brown eyes flickered any where but on her guest. Now that the other woman was here, she was having her doubts. Could she truly bear if someone turned away from her for what she had done?
auroraparrino:
Aurora felt tension overtake her as the bag was taken away but than a wave of relief coursed through her body. She exhaled the tension and smiled softly up at her friend. “God,” she breathed out. “When did you grow up and get so wise?” She asked rhetorically, joking gently. The lightheartedness helped, especially now that she felt so comforted by her young friend.
“… Thank you.” Her words were soft and genuine. Aurora got up and smiled, extending a hand and then coming close to embrace Mina for a short moment after the two were both up. She exhaled slowly and pulled away after a short moment. “Having a friend who you can’t lie to helps you face the facts, I guess,” She let out a breathy, humorless chuckle. “You know, I actually keep thinking I need to protect you from seeing how shitty anyone can truly be or can get but… you’re not a child.”
“You’re a good person, Mina. You’re better than I ever was at your age. But there is one thing I always knew coming from that hell on Earth that was the Underworld… and that is no matter how perfect someone seems, there’s always a darkness lurking beneath that exterior. It’s a crappy mindset. I didn’t want you to see that but it’s the truth. And maybe the truth protects us sometimes.”
She sighed. “I guess what I want to say is don’t let being able to glimpse into people’s mind ever make you believe you know the full story. If I didn’t love you as much as I do or really want to prevent keeping things from you, I could’ve found a way to stop you from knowing. To stop you from stopping me. People can be dangerous when they want things, especially addicts to something. Drugs, violence, power… I know because there was a time I was too.” And Aurora had always been wary about most of the royal family, including and, most significant to why she shared these words now… Royce.
“Just- just make sure you don’t ever forget, as much as you look up to someone, they can surprise you. No one’s perfect and sometimes they’re more imperfect than you’d expect.” Her expression softened, lightheartedness beginning to return now. “But enough of that. As imperfect as I am, I’m still going to be here looking at you like you’re my little sister,” Aurora said in another light joke. “Unfortunately, bad stumble forward or not, I’m not resigning that… No matter how many times you prove to me how amazing and mature a woman you are.” She grinned lightly and affectionately placed a hand briefly on Mina’s arm.
After Aurora had pulled back from the quick hug, she let her eyes meet the other woman’s. “I had good people around me when I needed them, Aurora. I’m who I am partly because of you,” Mina said honestly, eyes crinkling as she smiled.
But she understood the warning that Aurora had given her, the hidden meaning behind those words. And she would keep them close, as she did with all the advice the older woman had given her. She may not agree with it, especially when it came to who Royce was to her, but she would hold onto it. Biting down on the inside of her cheek, she just nodded. “I know, Aurora. I need to work on not relying on my gift quite so often. It’s not perfect.”
Smile brightening, she couldn’t stop the happiness that had bubbled up. “I always wanted a sister, Ror. So, if you think for one second that I’m ever going to stop annoying you as a little sister should, than you have another thing coming. You’re as stuck with me as I am with you.”

Walking back into the Seraphim stronghold after everything that had happened was surreal. She had a purpose for this visit, a specific task that had been weighing on her mind since she had accepted what she had done. Eyes skipping around the room, they landed on each individual person scattered about, looking for Vittorio Parrino.
She got a few strange looks, but no one moved to question what she was doing there. Spotting him, she moved quickly to place herself in his path, a sweet smile on her lips. “Mr. Parrino, just the man I was looking for!” she exclaimed, mustering up all the fake cheer she could. “I was wondering if you could spare a moment to speak with me.”
The Cheerleader of the Apocalypse || Ivy & Mina
darknesscfivy:
Ivy could sniff darkness from a mile away, and as she observed the anchor, she could clearly see it. It was an interesting twist of events, and she wondered what had happened to trigger it. Darkness was giddy, it swirled around her in shapes, dancing and bubbling beneath her skin. She returned her words with a smile, and gracefully sat down once Mina produced enough space for her.
She listened to her talk, attentive, attempting to read between the lines, but what she had heard clearly, delighted her. Rarely anyone was truly appreciative of darkness, and the very thing Mina had uttered, made the Horsewoman more prone to liking her - and her shadows delighted at the change, too. Not all change, of course, but this… This was good. Exciting. “It is exquisite, isn’t it? The way darkness shields, and soothes. You will never find a better friend, then those that shadows provide. It doesn’t judge.” She replied to her words, watching the way the anchor observed the town laying dormant beneath them. Dormant for now, in the dead of the night, where creatures of the light slept, and those of the dark dwelt outside, waiting, hidden in the shadows of the night.
At her question, Ivy shrugged, and cast a glance outside. “I enjoy this place. The darkness of it… It soothes me. Puts things to perspective.” Her reply was surprisingly honest, and she threw the brunette a small smile. “And what brings you here? The peace and the quiet?”
Ivy’s words seemed to ring true, as far as Mina could tell. Once upon a time, the darkness had been an eerie thing to approach with caution. But the taste that she had experienced, had opened her up to new opinions. It had been on the edge of her mind for so long, slowly inching it’s way closer to her core. But that day- it had overtaken her in such a delicious way that she wasn’t sure that she could turn away from it.
“Everyone needs a friend who doesn’t judge.” And she had been lucky, those who knew what she had done had allowed her justify her actions. Had stamped out the guilt that had been present directly after everything had happened. Turning to her companion, Mina eyed the woman that she was seeing in a whole new light. The darkness was simply misunderstood, as was Ivy, it would seem.
“The quiet is definitely what drew me up here,” she answered with her own smile. “But once I was up here, I just got lost in everything. It’s nice to be away from everything but still close enough to observe.”
princxroyce·:
The last twenty-four hours had not gone as planned.
Royce had not only been betrayed by his subordinates, betrayed by people who had incredible debts to repay to him, but his anchor was stolen from him. It was anger at being outplayed by mundanes and anger at his anchor possibly being in danger that played his heavy hand. He couldn’twouldn’t stand for people betraying him. Not at a time like this. It played over and over in his mind. He was the Prince of the Populous. People loved him. That love is what we going on for the future. Did he stumble?
When he heard Mina’s words, he looked up from the map on his desk, settled with dust and riddled with pen scratchings. He’d requested her to stay close to him for the time being, barely enough time to retreat to the Horsemen but he needed her to be safe. He had spent years protecting her and now… he saw darkness reflected in her that he’d seen in only a few others before. She was so innocent, so loyal. Could he tell her his truth? The truth about where he goes and why she can’t follow? Perhaps soon.
He stood from his desk and moved to her side, a soft smile hinting on his lips.
“Yes,” he answered simply as he approached her, taking on her hand gently, rolling his thumb over her knuckles, “I do think of you differently. You’re not the young and innocent girl I found in that hospital ward. You’re strong, incredibly capable, and wonderfully combative. You don’t need to worry about what I think of you.” His thumb lolled across her hand again, resting near her wrist. “Are you scared?”
Royce had a way of making her feel safe. Even when she had been horrified by his thoughts, he had that effect on her. Lips lifting with the show of a small smile, his words helped to ease her fears.
“Yes,” was out of her mouth before Mina really stopped to think about his question. “No. I don’t know.” Everything was all jumbled up inside her. She was a mess, and while Percy’s ability had helped in allowing her to get a handle on her mind, it hadn’t helped with everything she was feeling. “I don’t think I’m scared.” Scared of herself? Maybe. But she wouldn’t let herself be caught off guard again.
“I’m angry,” Mina bit out with a huff. She hadn’t trusted those people, not as far as she could throw them, but their betrayal had cut deep. The fact that she had been blindsided, with hardly any sort of warning, had shaken her. “They wanted to use me to hurt you. I should have known.” Inhaling sharply, she shook those thoughts away. It wouldn’t help to keep replaying everything she had done wrong. It had been on repeat since everything had gone down. “I won’t let it happen again.”
The Cheerleader of the Apocalypse || Ivy & Mina
darknesscfivy:
Location: Clock Tower. Date: August 26th, 2019. Time: 02:11 am.
The Clock Tower has been something of a sanctuary for her. While she was more than happy to lurk in the Horsemen HQ, holed up in her chambers and dancing with her ghosts, her shadows, sometimes it did her good to change her surroundings every now and then. Solitude was best found away from the Horsemen - she loves them all dearly ( one a bit more than the others ), but they were fluent in reading her moods, and if she wanted to sulk, she couldn’t really do it in front of them, without the Horsemen either tiptoeing around her, or being unnecessarily mindful of her. She didn’t need to be shielded, she needed to let her shadows consume the world; and they did.
The last few days have been Hell on Earth, and for more than half of it, her darkness was to blame. Since her powers have vanished for a day, something has changed in Ivy - darkness all but amplified, and she desire to use it could not have been timed any better. Still, using so much of it has left her in a shaky aftermath, drained and desiring isolation, to recharge in the shadows, among things that no one but herself saw. She climbed her way to the Tower, and quietly entered the sanctuary, when her icy gaze fell upon a familiar figure, sitting on the window-seat, looking outside in the darkness. Mina, Royce’s anchor.
Darkness danced around Ivy, swirling in excitement and delight, and she tilted her head to the side as she briefly observed the girl. She seemed… different. The Horsewoman of War inched closer to her, leaving the shadows at bay, and in a soft tone ( different than the one she normally uses - almost kind, gentle ), spoke; “Do you mind if I join you, Mina?”
@anchormina
There was something beautiful about the darkened, sleeping city. Mina wasn’t sure how long she had been up there. It could have been minutes or hours since she had ascended to the top of the tower to find some semblance of peace. And that’s exactly what she had found. The guilt and numbness having long since abandoned her, even the anger that had burned bright had fizzled down into a dull flame, leaving her just being. With ever passing hour, Mina found less fault in her actions.
She had thought she had known darkness, known her own darkness well enough, but what she had experienced just a few days prior, had been a new taste. The thing that had her worried, was how she had enjoyed how it tasted. It had been a new sort of power rush, something she had never really experienced with her gift.
She hadn’t heard Ivy approach, neither her footsteps nor her mind, so the sudden voice caused her to jump slightly. Jerking her head around, she gave the woman a brief smile. While solitude had been a bonus, it wasn’t the reason she had headed up to the tower, so the company was appreciated.
“Of course! Please take a seat,” she said, trying to muster as much of her usual cheer as possible. Scooting back, she moved her outstretched legs so that Ivy would have as plenty of room on the bench should she choose to sit. “You know, I don’t think I’ve ever truly enjoyed the darkness of night as much as I have tonight.” Her voice was almost wistful, as she turned her head back towards the city, marveling at how the lights twinkled in the dark.
“What brings you up here this late?”
morriganledoux:
While she didn’t know Mina well, Morrigan did knew about her position as Royce’s Anchor, his protector and adviser. Really, the horsewoman of death should thank the young Saint for her continuous support and help, though passively, to the Four Horsemen.Alas, another reason had compelled Morrigan to speak to her. “I’m not after the prince, don’t worry.” Morrigan chuckled. The mere idea of having someone spy on Royce was ridiculous. No, her Anchor friends and partners were much more desirable, much more interesting than the man she’d been working with behind closed doors.
“You have access to the palace. If you were to spy on your Anchor friends for me, and the king, what would you say? You could talk to your parents one more time. From the looks of it, they miss you a lot.” Morrigan shrugged “but, that’s your choice.”
Spying on her friends and King within the castle? Could she do that? Such an easy task to be able to talk to her parents one last time- would it all be worth it to Mina? Looking away from her companion, she mulled it over, debating. If Royce truly wasn’t the target, then she would have very little qualms about it. But, she did have people she cared about within, and what of she put them in danger with the information she shared?
“I- What’s the goal with the information I might give you?” she asked, the woman’s use of her parents winning her over. It was a useful manipulation that only Morrigan could be successful using. “By that, I mean, are you planning on hurting anyone?”

kingofkeigan:
Evan raised an eyebrow at the joke. “There are some upsides to that,” he pointed out, “but, I happen to like my position as king so I think I’ll refrain.” He did like his position, for the most part. “Really?” He asked, genuinely surprised. “Well, I’m glad the worst of my childhood hijinks didn’t make it out of the castle.” Evan smiled, “Have you been to Keigan?”
“I am well, as much as a mundane like me can. I have to say I’m a little jealous of all the abilities on display.” He looked down at the girl. She seemed young. “Are you a Saint?” he took a sip of his drink.
“It seems to suit you,” she said, the compliment falling from her lips easily. The atmosphere of the Pit must be affecting her more than she would like to admit as color flushed to her cheeks at the unusual behavior on her part. “We all have embarrassing stories, and I can say from experience, those are the best. I haven’t, though I hear only good things about Keigan. I’d love to visit there sometime soon.”
At his words of the abilities, her eyes shifted to the people around them. Some of them had gifts that were simply unreal, even Mina could admit that she was a little jealous at times. Turning back to look at Evan, and nodded. “I am. My ability is hearing peoples thoughts. But I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable, I don’t actively try and hear them,” she said, her teeth digging into her bottom lip lightly. Some people clammed up when it came to her ability, and she was quite enjoying this little chat with the foreign king.
jpdelacroix·:
JP hated using knives. They were messy and got blood all over him, no matter where he stabbed. Gun were far more effective and quick, especially because of his good marksmanship. But, in this case, a gun would make more of a splatter with such close distance. So the King resigned to use what he had. He definitely didn’t want to waste another minute listening to the idiot man’s pleads.
He reached into his jacket, took out the ornate knife he always kept and sunk it deep into the man’s ribs. “Your promises mean nothing,” JP muttered, watching as the blood entered into the man’s lungs and started pooling out of his mouth. Before he could start coughing blood all over JP’s face, JP took the knife out of his victim’s chest and sunk it into the side of his throat. With that, he pushed the man down and to the side. Someone quickly came up to the King and handed him a handkerchief. He took it without a word, without even glancing at the man who had handed it to him, and began to use to casually wipe the blood off his hands.
His face was expressionless, bordering on blasé as he turned and faced the other men and women coming out of the room. None of them looked particularly surprised or very bothered by what had transpired, nor by the sight of the lifeless corpse now lying in a pool of his own blood. “Enough of this,” JP spoke up again. “Hans, attend to Fredrick’s nephew tonight.” One of the men nodded but the one beside him, much younger looking, looked puzzled and spoke. ‘The kid?’
Most of the men and women gave the younger one exasperated, annoyed or angry looks. Hans elbowed him. JP looked over at him. “Age means nothing, Nathaniel. Not when there’s a threat to our kingdom.” Briefly, visions flashed in JP’s mind of previous victims. There were a few he had not seen in person, but JP recalled informers, including one telling him, ‘the police are on the scene-’ the street name in which the Augustine car crash happened flashed momentarily before Nathaniel’s voice interrupted his thoughts. But he saw nothing of the car nor Mina’s parents since he’d never seen what happened with his own eyes. And after all, how many things could have happened in the length of a city street? ‘Fair, Your Majesty.’
Oh god, oh god, oh god. That singular phrase repeated itself through her mind as her eyes stayed lock on the King and his victim. The man didn’t speak, but his mind screamed within hers. The sharp burning of her eyes told her that tears were welling up. She had never seen someone murdered, not in cold blood like this. And the mention of the kid who would meet the same fate caused her heart to ache.
Could she have stopped this? Probably not. But she could have done something. Moving as quickly as she dared and as quietly as she could manage, Mina let an arm reach behind her as she moved back towards the door she had originally come through. This scene was something that she was never meant to stumble upon, and if she stayed too much longer she would no doubt be caught.
The cold metal of the door knob startled her. Chest raising with silent breaths, she knew that she was just a few moments from freedom. Once she was away, she would be able to analyze what she had witnessed. Turning it slowly, she kept her eyes down the hall until the door was pulled back far enough that she could move through it. Jerking around, Mina rushed through the door, hitting it lightly as she passed through. Safety. She had made it!
