2019 - End of an Era
2019 – End of an Era
If you want a recap of my 2018, click here.
A few weeks ago, everyone on their Instagram was posting their “2019 Wrapped” – a recap of all of their music listening from 2019. It gave me a gentle nudge to remind me to look back on 2019 and everything I did. Admittedly, I feel that it was a slow year for me, but let’s take a quick look at everything that happened.
Although it was the very…

Rock Bottom
Another part of the Harvard Museum of Natural History is their Earth and Planetary Sciences Gallery. It consists of hundreds upon hundreds of different rocks and minerals from all over the world. It was particularly interesting to me (as a chemistry major from undergrad) because you can see how the same compounds look completely different, even though they’re made up of the same materials. The…

Subtle
These pictures were shot over five minutes in a mall with skylights. No real story or theme for this set. Just good light and a good friend.
It’s been a while since I took some good ol’ fashioned portraits. So it was nice to get back into it again.
If you’re ever in Somerville, MA, I highly recommend stopping by Yume Ga Arukara for some very good udon. If you finish your bowl, the…

Why I Do It
Why I Do It
Yesterday was my birthday. A lot has happened this past month, but I wanted to talk about something that has been on my mind
I love vacation. I’m the type of person to enjoy doing nothing. After a long semester, give me some time to literally turn off my brain and do literally nothing. Taking time off is great for your mental health, but for me, there came a point where I took toomuch time…

Vessel
When I first started seeing pictures of this place, I thought it was one of the weirdest photo-ops in New York I’ve ever seen. Staircases running up and up in the shape of a beehive. Was it a mall? Was it a building? I had to know.
Turns out, Vessel is a new landmark in Hudson Yards, NYC that is just stairs. It’s meant to be climbed and is completely free. If anyone knows me personally,…

A Creative Flex It's been a long while since I did a portrait shoot. Sometimes you just need a refresher to make sure I still now how to do some basic retouching.
Get Your Kicks
On the way to the Grand Canyon, we traveled down a small leg of the iconic Route 66. The path starts in Chicago, Illinois and extends all the way to Santa Monica, California. Historically, it was a popular highway that connected eastern and western United States. Today, the actual Route 66 no longer exists, but you can still do the two week drive on the same path, just under different names.

Hot Dam
About 2 years ago, I celebrated my birthday in Vegas with my dad. We also decided to take a short tour of Hoover Dam. If you’re ever in the desert in July, “hot” is a bit of an understatement. Add in the constant wind rolling through the river, and it really feels like you’re in an air fryer. If you visit in May, on the other hand, it is a much more pleasant experience.
This last trip, I…

What a View
I have a fairly new laptop. It’s less than a year old, and can handle most of the daily tasks I put it through, including photo edits in Photoshop. But over the past few days, I’ve been testing it’s limits with one picture in particular.
During my recent vacation to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, I knew I wanted to take a wide landscape shot of the canyon. The widest lens I own is the 50mm,…

Serene
Now that I’m on vacation, I can work on a few photos here and there and really make them the way I want. I’m going to be traveling quite a bit this break, so I’m going to have a bunch of new content in between trips. So instead of doing shoots, I’m going to take some time to make sure I make the best content possible with the few pictures I have. Quality over quantity.
This picture was taken…

SOS
Short post today everyone.
I’ve been listening to Avicii – SOS lately. Like a lot. Aside from just being a good song, there’s something extremely meaningful about appreciating someone’s work released post-mortem. It made me think about how I will leave my mark on this world after I’ve passed. It’s a bit morbid to think about, but if anything, it can be inspirational. It’s a call to arms to…

Screencap
It’s the middle of finals week, so I haven’t had time to go out and take new pictures. But it doesn’t stop my head from wandering sometimes. For example, a week ago I saw Avengers Endgame in IMAX. Aside from being a cinematic masterpiece, I couldn’t get over just how widethe movie was. The aspect ratio really drew me in and made the experience that much better. Fast forward a few days, and…

Editing Exercise - Hints of Rose
Editing Exercise – Hints of Rose
When I was shooting with Kristi a while back, I was going through all of the selects and noticed a lot of greenery. When you take pictures outdoors in nature, you tend see a lot of it. But in order to make something different, I decided to change a few things with the background. I decided to hue everything in a soft magenta-red to make the vibe a little less boring.
I very recently just…

Boston Shoot XV - Rewritten
Boston Shoot XV – Rewritten
There are some projects that I have in mind that I tend to keep to myself. But when I do get around to shooting it, it’s usually with someone I really trust. Right now is the middle of the 2 week bloom, where all of the trees start to flower and grow again. For Boston, it means that greenery finally returns to the streets and along Charles River. It’s a nice sight to see.
Kristi hasn’t…

Maine Event II
Last year I went to Mainefor spring break (March). Back then, it was way too cold to function. This time, I had a free weekend so me and three friends gathered together and drove up to Maine for some exploration in the beginning of April. The plan was to hike a bit of Acadia National Park as well as explore some beaches along the way. We did a bit of both, while also indulging in the freshest…
