ok so maybe he’s not supposed to be in here, but ... he’s never used a real bow and arrow (well, not extensively. there was that one time he tried to learn in preparation for the idol star athletic championships, but...) and he’s kind of curious. he uses one made from his energy while he’s hwall, but obviously that doesn’t compare to a real bow and arrow. especially with draw weights, he’s never done that. so he gingerly fiddles with the strings of some practice bows, before sighing and taking his place in front of a target, empty handed.
his hands glow softly, a lilac energy emerging, before he raises his arms and a bow and arrow appears in his hands. his form isn’t perfect - but when he looses the fake arrow, it lands nicely in the center ring of the target. and dissipates into the air. and for the next hour, this repeats, the easiness of the motions bringing him peace and calm.
Lio drummed her fingers against the table. In front of her, android schematics forgotten and a latte rapidly cooling in front of her. Too much was going. She heard the hum of the air conditioning. (There was to find air conditioning unit and take it apart, either to find out what was wrong or make it better if nothing was.) She watched the queue. She smelt the sugar and the syrup they used. Frustration built within her. (You need to get out more. You can’t just live in the lab.)
Turning her attention back to the paper in front of her, she forced her hand to still, grabbed her discarded pencil. Still nothing. She groaned in frustration. After a moment, she grabbed the schematic, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it towards the garbage, only a few feet away from her, and right into someone.
“Shit. Sorry.” She said. A beat later, she asked, “Could you throw that away for me?”
he blinks, a scrap of paper hitting him in the chest. he looks down a little, patting the front of his jacket, before looking back at the girl. she’s pretty, but he’s not really ... into girls, so that’s all she is. but of course, there’s more than meets the eye, as is with everyone here.
“ah. er... it’s okay. and alright.” he replies quietly, kneeling down to pick up the crumpled paper and dropping it into the trash bin. “.. what’re you working on?”
Classes had been too much of a bother to go to today so of course Willow had decided to sneak out early in the morning, flying most of her way to town before landing somewhere discreet and walking the rest of the way.
She had been in town for at least a couple of hours now and was just enjoying the peace of being away from the Academy when she saw the brunette sitting alone, head down and seeming a little lost. Willow paused and frowned a little. Something just drew her to him…. to see if he was okay.
“Uhm, Are you okay?” she asks the other.
he startles a little, jolting in his seat before he looks up, eyes blinking. right. forgot he’s sitting in public. he doesn’t blend into the crowd (because there is none. seoul had almost ten million people. and there, he was just one in ten million.
“er. y - yeah. i’m fine...” oh god, he wasn’t expecting anyone to talk to him. his social ability is practically zero. the only reason he even interacted with his trainee friends is because they dragged him into their friendship circle. he just went along for the ride.
alright. so. here’s his checklist. 1. knowing english. passable. barely. 2. being social. nonexistent. 3. knowing where he’s going? god if he knew. he’s from seoul. this place is all ... well, not metropolitan. he’s heard about new york, every rookie dreams of performing there, but ... he’s not a trainee anymore, he’s just... a mutant. at a school. god, he hates the word mutant. makes him, and others, seem ... like monsters, or something. maybe to most humans, they are.
he sighs, a small frown on his lips. he misses home, misses blending into the crowd of normal people rather than ... being exposed and noticed. well. noticed in the wrong way. so he sits on a bench on the street, close to night time, playing with the edge of his phone case.
that looks like NA HYUNJOON !! they’re the EIGHTEEN YEAR OLD ADOPTED SON of STEVE ROGERS. [ they are also a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT at paragon. ] i hear they’re RELIABLE & PLEASANT TO BE AROUND, but tend to be QUIET & SEEMINGLY UNEMOTIONAL. his file says that his power is ENERGY MANIPULATION.
CHARACTER HISTORY.
na hyunjoon, first name hyunjoon, was born in seoul, south korea to an unnamed mutant couple. he was given to a married human couple weeks after his birth, but he was never truly adopted.
all things considered, before he was eleven, he was a normal child. studied in school, blended in well... he never stood out. it’s hard to, in a city as big as seoul.
on his eleventh birthday, he enters the door of his home, and wipes the power of half a block. that just doesn’t happen to normal people.
his guardians tell him that he has powers - and hyunjoon struggles to deal with this. he loves his guardians. he doesn’t want these powers, and he doesn’t want to know the people that gave them to him.
actually, his surrogate family’s been connected to a powered person who, once hyunjoon awakens his powers, would tutor him. because the powers are dangerous, and hyunjoon doesn’t want to hurt anyone. it’s better he learns how to control them.
age sixteen, five years after his powers awakening, he decides to become a vigilante. age sixteen, he decides to audition for an entertainment company.
when he becomes an idol trainee, he also becomes the vigilante hwall. and his company knows this - in fact, they have plans for him and the other trainees. a group of powered idols. to win the nation’s heart, to fight prejudice against powered people, and also protect them.
and then - well, at age eighteen, he’s found out by higher authorities, even higher than the government of korea. of his vigilantism, and his mutant status. paragon academy has more power than his company, so he’s off.
HEADCANONS.
he formerly attended sopa, the school of performing arts seoul in korea. it’s one of the most prestigious arts schools in korea. he was enrolled into its practical dance department.
for his idol group, he was meant to be lead rapper and main dancer.
his vigilante name hwall (meaning bow), is because he often manifests a bow and arrow from his energy. thinking in a bit of irony, he chose his underground rapper name to be apno, which also means bow.
he had a lot of trouble accepting that he was a mutant. even now, he doesn’t really talk about it. korea is very against powered people and mutants, so if he had ever talked about it in public... well, it’d be bad.
he is pretty withdrawn about himself. he doesn’t really talk unless it’s necessary.
he misses his friends, the other idol trainees. he talks to them in a group chat.
