did i hear.. more costume day angst? because here you go 😳
we’ll be the stars
a tyrus drabble based on a tweet made by @joshrushes on twitter
“Have you ever wished on a star?” Cyrus mused, sitting on the ground and resting his head against one of the tree stumps. He glanced up at TJ who had an amused smile gracing his face.
“I don’t really think those come true,” TJ said with a breathy laugh. Cyrus was pretty convinced of that, himself. If they did, TJ would’ve kissed him by now.
He looked ahead of him at the campfire in front of them. Sitting up, he picked up one of the sticks to roast two marshmallows- one for him and one for TJ.
The heat of the fire wasn’t the only thing making his face warm. He was sitting way too close to TJ, especially since they were the only two there. They were probably the only people in a mile radius.
TJ had offered to bring Cyrus here. He told him about all the summers he spent there with his parents, and he wanted Cyrus to see it to. What he didn’t tell Cyrus, however, was they were going to be completely alone in the middle of the night.
Breaking the silence TJ continued, “I wish they did, though. But I mean, maybe we’re better off for it. If everything always happened exactly the way we wanted it to, we’d probably be living pretty boring lives.” Cyrus thought about that for a moment while watching the marshmallows crisp to a light brown shade.
“You’re probably right.” He stood up, walking closer to the fire so he could better see the marshmallows. “There isn’t really much I want, though. I’m pretty content.”
“Is there anything you would want if you could choose one wish to come true?” TJ asked, getting up and standing next to Cyrus, their arms brushing slightly.
The tugging at his chest got far worse than it was before. You. I would want you.
In an attempt to avoid responding, he held up the marshmallows in front of them. “Take one.”
They each reluctantly pulled theirs off and ate it. The warm marshmallow was good, sure. But in Cyrus’s opinion, kissing TJ would be far better.
“You didn’t answer my question.” TJ smirked, the marshmallow in his mouth causing his cheek to puff out.
“And you look like a chipmunk,” Cyrus teased, elbowing him in the side.
“Aww, are you calling me cute?” Cyrus could feel his face starting to heat up again, making him extremely thankful that it was dark outside.
He took a deep breath before saying, “Maybe I am. Is that a problem?”
TJ basically choked on his marshmallow upon hearing this. “I- what?”
Cyrus turned towards him, looking up to make direct eye contact. “TJ… I know this is probably weird, but, I think I know what my wish would be.”
“Hm? Elaborate.”
“It would be…” he closed his eyes, “well- it would probably be to kiss you.” He couldn’t see TJ’s face, but he wasn’t necessarily sure if he wanted to. Why did I say that? There’s no way he likes me b-
All of the thoughts were cleared from his head when he felt TJ’s lips briefly connect with his. He opened his eyes, his heart nearly beating out of his chest.
“Maybe your wishes can come true after all.” TJ smiled, making Cyrus feel just like a marshmallow burning over a campfire.

Chapter Six: Fools

how convenient
(this was requested by an anon on my blog that got deleted, sorry this is super late lmao enjoy)
Walking into the convenience store, Cyrus said to TJ, “We just have to pick this up, then we can head to my house and—“
And the lights went out.
TJ immediately turned around and tried to pull open the automatic door, but it didn’t budge. He tried flicking the emergency switch, but it did nothing. So much for up to date technology.
Cyrus walked over to the window and peered out of it, trying to make out something, anything, but all he could see was white. The snowstorm outside had seriously picked up, to the point where it was basically a blizzard.
Cyrus felt a hand pat his back. He turned his head to see TJ standing very close to him, close enough to make his heart pound even harder. “So much for movie night plans. Sorry, Underdog.”
Cyrus wrinkles his nose. “It’s fine.”
It was a little disappointing to him that he couldn’t hang out with his crush at his house one on one for the first time, but he figured he would have to live with it.
The wind blew hard against the window, creating a loud sound that Cyrus jumped at. TJ snickered, then looked out into the store. There was virtually no one there, other than the cashier still standing behind the counter reading a magazine, indifferent to anything going on. TJ smiled. “You realize what this means?”
Cyrus furrowed his brow, hesitant to hear what TJ had to say. “What?”
“We can do anything we want in here. There’s no one else, the cashier’s basically not even here, we can stash as much food as we want!”
Cyrus gave him a mildly disappointed look. “TJ, no. We still have to pay for things.”
TJ rolled his eyes. “Fine. You’re right, I guess. But we can still buy some cheese puffs and do whatever we want.”
Cyrus flashed him a smile. “Sounds good to me.”
Fast forward to thirty minutes later, where they’re sat shoulder to shoulder against the glass door that contains all of the no-longer-cold soft drinks, staring off into space while shoving the final cheese puffs in the jumbo bag into their mouths. “So do you want to talk about anything else?” Cyrus asked.
TJ lazily turned his head to look at him. “What else is there to talk about?”
“We could play truth or dare,” Cyrus offered.
“Sure. You go first.”
Cyrus gave his best sports announcer impression and said, “Well, TJ, truth or dare?”
TJ laughed and answered, “Dare.”
Cyrus dropped his head. “Of course you would pick dare.”
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?” TJ teased.
“Nothing, nothing. I dare you to… throw your last cheese puff into the garbage can across the store from here,” Cyrus said with a smug smile.
TJ fake gasped, putting his hand on his chest. “You want me to just sacrifice Genevieve like it’s no big deal? How dare you.”
Cyrus threw him a look. “You were literally about to eat it.”
“Valid point.”
TJ stood up and threw the cheese puff, only barely missing, but his aim was still off enough to hit the cashier who remained unaware of anything going on.
They both snickered as TJ said, sitting back down, “That’s gotta be worth something.”
Cyrus replied, still giggling like wind chimes, “Fine, fine, I’ll allow it.”
Trying to imitate Cyrus’ voice from before, TJ asked, “So, Underdog, truth or dare?”
Cyrus thought for a moment, squinting a bit, then answered, “Truth.”
TJ smirked, because of course he’d pick that. “Do you have a crush on anyone?”
Cyrus scoffed, “That’s, like, the most basic truth or dare question ever. You couldn’t come up with something better than that?”
TJ squinted jokingly. “Avoiding the question, I see. I’m gonna take that as a yes, then.”
Cyrus laughed again, retorting, “Whatever, yeah, I have a crush on someone. What about you, do you?”
“Don’t I get to pick truth or dare?” TJ asked.
Cyrus’ eyebrow quirked. “Not this time.”
TJ sighed. “Yeah, I do.”
“Tell me about them.”
TJ rolled his eyes, tilting his head to the side and taking a deep breath. “They’re great. They don’t really think they are all the time, but they really are. They’re a little dorky, but it kinda only makes me like ‘em more.” He paused for a moment, a calculating look on his face. He then looked directly into Cyrus’ eyes as he continued, “They love baby taters, and dinosaurs, and muffins, and writing screenplays, and they’re the best person I’ve ever met. They make me want to be a better person for them.”
Cyrus’ eyes looked clouded as he replied quietly, “Wow, sounds like quite the girl.”
He really didn’t get it, did he?
“Not a girl.”
That’s when things started to click. “O-oh.”
TJ scratches the back of his neck. “Cy, I… I like you.”
Cyrus’ eyes only widened more. “O-oh.”
TJ asked, almost disappointed, “Is that all you’re gonna say?”
Cyrus’ words were caught in the back of his throat, he didn’t know how to respond.
“Look, Cy, it’s totally fine if you don’t feel the same way, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable or anything, but could we just pretend that this didn’t ha—“
“I like you too.” Small, quiet, whispered, almost missable.
TJ’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, hopeful. “Really?”
Cyrus only nodded, a soft smile and blushed cheeks present on his face. He held his hand out as an invitation.
TJ smiled wide and took it. “Be my boyfriend?”
“Yeah.”
And there the two boys sat, still against the doors of the soft drink fridges, inside a convenience store that lost power during a blizzard, the heartbeats in their chests warming them up better than any heater ever could, still hand in hand.
New Years Sleepover
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE. A quick little multi-ship oneshot for celebration. This actually turned out to be really long but its cute so just go with it.
Ships: Muffy, Ambi, Tyrus.
I present to you,
New Years Sleepover
Andi had planned a huge sleepover at her apartment. Her parents only allowed it to seem cool.
So now, the large group sat around the living room. As a new years goal, Buffy started to talk to Marty again. They made up, he apologized. They were at a good place.
Marty, TJ, Amber, Andi, Cyrus, and Buffy were scattered across the living room. They were all doing their own thing.
On the T.V, the New York Ball Drop was airing, but none of the kids were really paying attention, singing along to the songs that played.
Marty sat on the floor, several nail polishes in front of him. He saw the nail polishes in Andi’s room, and asked if he could do Buffy’s nails. The two girls agreed. He was currently painting Buffy’s nails a bright pink color. He knew she hated it.
“I can’t believe you are making me look so girly! Marty I will get you back.” she scowled jokingly. He shrugged and dipped the brush in again, going on t her other hand. “I get to paint your nails.” she said. “Uh, yeah, not gonna happen.” he scoffed.
“You are painting my nails pink, and plus, their is nail polish remover in the bathroom. Marty rolled his eyes but didn’t protest.
TJ and Cyrus sat together on a armchair, even though there was plenty of room on the couch. TJ’s arm was around his shoulder, Cyrus’s head falling onto his shoulder. He was dozing off.
“Cyrus, it’s not even eleven yet!” TJ snapped his fingers. Cyrus blinked and rubbed his eyes. “I am usually in bed by nine.” he wined.
“Awe, your sleepy.” TJ teased. Cyrus shook his head. “No! I feel asleep before midnight but that’s not gonna happen again.” Cyrus assured, yawning as soon as he finished his statement.
“You better not fall asleep.” TJ said. “I won’t!” Cyrus promised, resting his head on TJ’s shoulder again. He dozed off as TJ scrolled through his phone. TJ shook his head again, chuckling.
“Cyrus.” he shook him slightly. “Just resting my eyes.”
Amber and Andi were on the couch, doing each others makeup. “Okay, so i think purple matches your outfit pretty well. But this peach brings out a sparkle in your eyes.” Amber pointed to two colors on the palate. “You choose.” Andi shrugged.
Amber lightly pressed the peach color onto Andi’s eyes, rummaging through a bag for a lipstick. Amber was already wearing blue eyeshadow, and a brown colored lipstick. She also had blush on, but her cheeks were pinker than before when she had to get close to Andi.
She rested her hand on Andi’s cheek while applying the pink lipstick.
Andi and Amber packed up the make up and headed upstairs to put it away.
Buffy’s nails dried and she looked through the different colors. “I can’t believe I am letting you do this.” Marty seemed embarrassed. “Hey! At least you will match your girlfriend!” TJ called out.
“Look at you, your boyfriend is dozing off before midnight.” Marty shot back. Cyrus was half asleep on TJ’s shoulder. His eyes shot open. “I’m awake!” he exclaimed.
Buffy shook her head and laughed, picking up a very dark black and grabbing one of Marty’s hands. “You have long nails.” she commented.
“Yeah, okay. Get on with it, will you? I am so ready to remove this.” he rushed her.
“Cy, how will I keep you awake?” he asked. “I am awake.” Cyrus rubbed his eyes, yawning. “Doesn’t seem like that will last for long.” TJ teased.
“Stop, I’m sleepy and it’s not my fault.” Cyrus pouted. TJ set his phone in his lap and reached over with his free hand. He tickled Cyrus, and Cyrus kept giggling.
“Teej! Stop it.” he said in between laughs and giggles. Cyrus was a little more awake, but still sleepy. “What are you gonna do about it?” TJ continued, enjoying the sound of Cyrus’s laughter. He was very close to Cyrus, and he was making him laugh.
Two of his favorite things. Cyrus smacked his hand away. All he did was shake his head and say “No.”, resting his head onto TJ’s shoulder and dozing off again.
Buffy and Marty continued to banter as Buffy put the black polish onto his fingernails. “Trying to make me angsty, huh?” Marty teased.
“Absolutely.” Buffy rolled her eyes and screwed the nail polish shut. “All done.” she announced. She blew onto his fingers. “Stay still and let it dry.” she instructed.
Marty decided not to argue. Suddenly, all four kids could smell popcorn. Amber and Andi came into the living room. Andi set a bowl of popcorn onto the table, and then Amber set a bowl of miniature candy bars onto the table.
“Candy, quick. This boy right here needs sugar or he won’t make it until midnight.” TJ called. Amber rolled her eyes, but threw a handful or Hershey Kisses and Milky Way’s at him.
“Cyrus.” TJ called, Cyrus didn’t budge. “Underdog?” He snored lightly. “Muffin!” TJ said, a lot louder.
Cyrus bolted up, rubbing his eyes again. “Sorry.” he apologized, not denying the fact he fell asleep. “It’s fine, here.” TJ put a few pieces of candy in his hands.
“Yay! Hershey Kisses!” he was excited. He popped one into his mouth. He didn’t say a word for a few minutes, completely content with eating this candy. It was like instant sugar rush.
Cyrus jumped up and went to the candy bowl, taking a bunch of candy and sitting next to TJ.
Marty was eating popcorn when Buffy started recording him. “Show off your nails.” she instructed. “Nope.” he shook his head. “Fine then, I’ll steal your popcorn.” she took the popcorn from his hands and shoved her phone into her pocket.
“You better run.” Marty got up, and so did Buffy. He started chasing her and they disappeared into the kitchen. It was probably about eleven thirty.
Andi shook her head. “Marty and Buffy are literally in love.”
“Look at my brother over their cuddling with Cyrus!” Amber exclaimed, gesturing towards the boys on the armchair. Cyrus was talking quickly and excitedly, eating the candy that he had set in his lap.
TJ quickly retracted his arm from around Cyrus. “We are not cuddling.” TJ objected. Cyrus looked up at him and pouted. TJ didn’t know if he was tired or if the sugar was taking control of him, but Cyrus seemed upset TJ said that.
“Why not?” he asked. TJ was a blushing and stuttering mess. He didn’t get the chance to respond, because Buffy came running into the living room and tripped on a pillow that fell. Marty was right behind her.
“Buffy! Are you okay?” he helped her up, abandoning the fact he was just chasing her and calling her a “popcorn thief”.
“Yeah, I landed on my hand.” Buffy shook her hand. Marty took her hand and kissed it, causing a blush to spread on her cheeks. “All better?” he asked.
Buffy avoided looking at him, but nodded. “See, in love!” Andi completely ignored the fact she was interrupting their “moment”. Buffy snapped her head to Andi and scowled.
TJ slipped his arm around Cyrus’s shoulder. “Are you still tired?” the older boy asked. “A little, but this sugar crush will keep me awake at least until midnight.” Cyrus informed him. Cyrus hiccuped, and his eyes widened.
“Squeak toy!” TJ teased him, going to tickle him again. Cyrus laughed, screaming excitedly, hiccuping between breaths.
“Stop, stop.” he finally got out, waving TJ’s hand away.
Buffy and Marty sat on the ground again, lightly bantering. They took photo’s and selfies together.
“Here, lets take a picture.” Marty said. “Why?” Buffy looked at him. “So I have proof I spent New Years Eve with the prettiest girl I know.” he said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Buffy as blushing so much in the moment, and she was deeply upset Marty got that in the picture. Just like her, he was overconfident. Which sometimes meant shameless flirting with her.
“Awe, I made you nervous. How cute.” Marty teased. “Marty! Shut up.” she warned. They continued to “banter”, which was mainly them flirting with each other.
Andi and Amber danced to the song on TV, singing together.
Cyrus had a pile of trash in his lap. “TJ, the trashcan is so far away.” he pouted, looking to the trashcan in the kitchen. “Oh my god Cyrus, you aren’t this lazy.” TJ said.
Cyrus rested his head on TJ’s shoulder. “Still tired, after all that candy?”
“A little.” Cyrus admitted. “Stay awake, okay?” TJ picked up the trash from Cyrus’s lap and got up to throw it away. He took his spot next to Cyrus.
Andi and Amber were dancing, Marty and Buffy bantering, and TJ trying to keep Cyrus awake. It continued like that.
Suddenly, there was only a minute left until midnight. Cyrus was awake.
“Yay! I am gonna make it this year!” he seemed so proud of himself, clapping his hands. TJ shook his head, amused smile decorating his face.
Buffy reached over and took Marty’s hand. He glanced down at their intertwined hands, blushing slightly before looking back at the TV screen.
The TV read eleven seconds left. All six kids chanted together, Bex and Bowie standing in the kitchen doorway.
“Ten, nine, eight, seven, six…”
“Five!”
“Four!”
“Three, two…”
“One!”
In that last second, so much happened. Marty leaned over and kissed Buffy’s cheek.
Cyrus hugged TJ tightly, TJ kissing his nose, causing a blush to spread from there.
Amber and Andi hugged, Amber lightly kissing her cheek and leaving a lipstick marking.
All six kids were proud to say they started 2019 on a good note.

Back To December
Hey guys! This imagine is loosely based off of the song “Back To December” by Taylor Swift. I hope you like it! ( @tyrus-is-endgame-fight-me )

——————
It was the beautiful and chilly month of February in Shadyside.
The sidewalks were lined with long grasses and colorful flowers all around, the sun out and beaming with the clouds occasionally blocking it from the town.
It was around 23° on this fine Wednesday, around 6 or 7 p.m.
TJ Kippen was strolling around town, no specific reason. He just wanted to go for a walk. He stuck his earbuds in, clicked on Pandora and that was that.
TJ found himself in the neighborhood of his ex-boyfriend, Cyrus Goodman. He decided he’d hold his breath, and continue his walk.
With every passing minute he came closer and closer to passing Cyrus’ house. He felt himself going slower as he passed the house, coming to an almost complete stop.
He looked over the house, just observing and remembering. He even saw the silhouettes of Leslie and Todd in the living room.
TJ simply smiled softly to himself, he couldn’t help but wonder how they’re doing. He always loved being at Cyrus’ house and being around his folks. All four of them. They were so kind and funny, they treated him like part of the family even before he and Cyrus were together.
TJ blinked back small tears and continued with his walk before he got home, and went directly to bed.
The following day at school, TJ was exiting the gym and getting ready to head to his last period when his body came to a halt.
He saw Buffy and Cyrus talking at Cyrus’ locker. “Hey Cy, I haven’t seen you much today.” Buffy spoke.
“Yeah, sorry. I’ve been kinda dodging everyone today.” Cyrus said, sounding gloomy. TJ wished he could fix whatever was wrong.
He listened to Buffy and Cyrus talk. It was nothing major, he shouldn’t have been eavesdropping, but he couldn’t help himself. Buffy and Cyrus took off, or so he thought. As he was walking and not paying attention, he came in contact with someone else’s smaller frame.
“Sorry, I—” TJ’s breath hitched when he recognized Cyrus’ voice. “Oh, hi TJ.” He said. “Hey Cyrus.” TJ replied. They stood in silence for a few seconds. “How are you?” Cyrus asked.
“I’m okay, I—I guess. You?” He stammered nervously over his words. Cyrus shrugged, a semi blank yet painful look on his face. “I’ve been alright.” His voice hardened, but not too harshly. Cyrus was visibly tense, so TJ sighed and pushed past him, mumbling a quick “sorry” as he left.
TJ didn’t even go to class. He went to an empty classroom where he would most likely not get caught. He knew he wouldn’t. This wasn’t the first time he’d gone there, and it surely wouldn’t be the last.
He sat on the floor in a corner, fidgeting with his fingers and staring off. His mind was racing with different thoughts. Everyone being about Cyrus.
He understood why Cyrus was so, what was the word? Cautious? Careful? Guarded? All of those. They hadn’t spoken in months, and their last conversation wasn’t exactly one he was proud of.
•
“Hey Teej!” Cyrus said excitedly, approaching the swings they frequently visited together.
TJ took a deep breathe, muttering a quick “hey” as Cyrus swiped the snow onto the ground and took a seat on his usual swing.
Cyrus almost instantly furrowed his brows together in confusion, a look of concern crossing his features. “Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked, reaching over to grab one of TJ’s hands.
TJ snagged his hand away and crossed his arms, his body facing away from his boyfriend.
Cyrus decided to pretend that didn’t hurt his feelings, and kept trying to see what was wrong with TJ.
“TJ,” Cyrus said softly. “What happened? Talk to me.” Cyrus pried.
TJ wouldn’t even look at him. He couldn’t, he knew if he did, he wouldn’t be able to go through with this.
TJ tried to blink away the tears forming in his eyes, turning even further form Cyrus. “We need to break up.”
Cyrus just about jumped. He surely had to have heard TJ wrong, right? TJ didn’t say that.
“What? I’m sorry I think I heard you wrong. I thought you said—” TJ cut off his sentence. “That we need to break up? Yeah, that’s what I said.” TJ said, trying to cover the pain in his tone with bitterness.
Cyrus froze. “W-What?” Was all he could muster. He swore he’d start crying if he said anything else.
He stood up quickly, walking around to TJ’s front side. TJ stood up as well but looked away. “Move, please. I have places to go.” He mentally cursed himself for how he was acting, but he had to do it.
“I—uh— wait—I'm—” Cyrus couldn’t even form words. If he tried, it came out as word vomit. “Why?” He asked.
TJ didn’t respond. He still avoided eye contact. “TJ, look at me.” Cyrus almost demanded. Still, TJ was stubborn. “This, this is a sick joke right? Like you’re just trying to pull an asshole move or something?” Cyrus felt his voice shake as he talked. He hated that he couldn’t keep it steady.
“No it’s not.” TJ said, staring at his feet, mastering a cold tone. “I have to go. We’re done.”
TJ stepped past him, his shoulder bumping and brushing against Cyrus’. Cyrus spun around and grabbed TJ’s arm, pulling in almost in a circle. “Just tell me what happened. Obviously something did.” Cyrus pointed out.
“Nothing happened.” TJ hissed. “This was a mistake.” That still wouldn’t do it.
“A mistake?” Cyrus almost could laugh. “If it was a mistake, why’d you let it go on for six months, huh? Why’d you stay with me, she. You could’ve easily left me sooner?” He challenged. “If I am correct, if it was a ‘mistake’ you wouldn’t have cared about sparing my feelings so don’t even use that excuse, TJ.”
TJ sucked in air deeply, releasing it in almost a growl. “Can you just leave it? I already said this is done and told you why.”
“No, you didn’t actually. You’re lying to me. I know you TJ, and I know you’re an awful liar.” Cyrus hissed out.
“Or— Maybe you were just wrong about me this whole time. Maybe I’m just a prick after all, and maybe I want you to leave me alone and let me go on as who I am.” TJ said harshly. He forced out the tone of slight anger, trying to make it seem more real, like he was annoyed.
Cyrus’ breathing picked up, his desperation was starting to make its place in his body each time he spoke, as much as he tried to hide it. “But you aren’t! TJ you’re a good person. I know that, you know it too. I know you do.”
TJ stayed quiet as Cyrus started thinking out loud. “This, this is an act. I know it is. I, you, we— we love each other. I love you, you love me. We’re boyfriends, we— Uh, you… I remember you told me you love me. And all things you love about me too. And you pay attention to me and you care for me and you’re trustworthy and an overall good person so I don’t understa—”
“It’s not an act! This is who I am Cyrus. And I am not your boyfriend. Not anymore. I already told you, we’re done. All of it was fake. My feelings were fake,” He had to stop and swallow before saying “I don’t love you.”
It was that moment that the words left TJ’s lips that Cyrus broke. The tears he’d been keeping in, the rage and anger he’d locked in, the pure disgust and feeling of betrayal all let loose.
He stepped up to TJ, looking him right in the eye even if TJ wasn’t returning eye contact. He swung and hit TJ in the chest. Cyrus’ fists repeatedly struck TJ on the chest, his tears falling. TJ finally grabbed Cyrus by the arms and looked at him— like truly looked at him for the first time this entire conversation.
He felt his heart break. He felt the self hatred wedge itself into his mind. He saw the pain he caused Cyrus, that he wished he could take back. Cyrus ripped his arms away from him.
“You were right Kippen. You’re just a cold hearted jerk! You’re a jerk and a liar, and I should have never let you help me get that muffin!”
Ouch. TJ thought, watching as Cyrus walked away. When he was out of ear shot, he broke. He was sobbing loudly In his hands before his knees buckled beneath him and he fell to the ground.
Even though he knew it was for the best, it didn’t make it hurt any less.
•
That day, that awful day that changed everything was December 12th.
I’m such an ass. TJ told himself. I should’ve waited longer, till I knew completely. The dismissal bell rung, signaling the students to leave. He stood up and dash out of the classroom, making his way to the bus and sitting in his regular seat with his things. He looked at the date, February 12th.
It was two months since the break up. Two months since he ruined his own relationship.
The bus stopped, and he saw it was his stop. He walked home, going instantly to his room and sitting on the floor and facing the window. Two months. Two whole months it had been since he had Cyrus at his side. He felt so guilty still, he wanted to apologize and explain his actions and lies but he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t bring himself to find Cyrus, pull him aside, and explain everything.
He saw his reflection and he saw a coward. A coward who was feeling bad for himself when he brought it upon himself. Just for it to mean nothing in the end, and probably hurt even more for Cyrus since he never got some sort of closure.
He knew if it was the other way around, and Cyrus broke up with him out of the blue with no explanation and said the absolutely awful and cruel things TJ said, he would hardly be able to sleep at night. He’d go insane trying to figure out why. And knowing Cyrus, he probably was.
But who knows, maybe he moved on. Maybe he didn’t care about TJ. Maybe he even hated TJ. Hell, TJ hated TJ.
Amber walked into her twins room, seeing him sulking by the window. “Hey TJ.” She said carefully, making her way over to her brother.
“Hey.” He mumbled. “You’re thinking about him aren’t you?” She asked. He simply nodded. “It’s almost been two months.” He said. Amber looked at him sympathetically, “T, you’re my brother and I love you. You know that, but you also should’ve listened to me and waited till things were final. Had you waited two more days—” “I fuckin’ get it, okay?! I screwed up. I don’t need you reminding me too.” He hissed.
TJ instantly felt bad. Amber stood up and went to leave when he called out. “I’m sorry, okay? Today was just rough on me.”
She stopped and turned back around. “It’s okay, and I get it. I would be acting the same way if I was in your position.” Amber told him, sitting back down by his side.
“What should I do?” He asked almost inaudibly. “I think you need to apologize. Explain to him the situation. Cyrus is a forgiving person, and he’ll understand you were just trying to protect him—” “—in an extremely shitty way?”
“Yeah.” She said. After talking to Amber for a few more minutes, he decided he’d do it. He’d go find Cyrus, see if he’ll hear him out, and apologize.
Even if he’s lost Cyrus forever, due to himself, he needed to know that Cyrus knew why. So that began his jog to Cyrus’ house.
His heart was pumping and the blood was rushing through his veins. The pit in his stomach that hadn’t left in two months was more present than it ever had been, and it only felt like two seconds before he was in front of the door and knocking.
He stared at the wood porch flooring, waiting and waiting. He knocked again, waiting a little longer.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, Leslie answered the door. “TJ! What a surprise.” She said with a warm smile.
That surprised TJ. Surely she knows everything and hates him. I mean, come on He thought.
“Hi Mrs. Goodman, uh, can I talk to Cyrus? Please? If not it’s fine—” She cut him off by holding one finger up.
“Cyrus! Someone’s here for you!” She shouted. “Would you like to come in?” She offered. He shook his head, “Could me and him go on a walk by any chance?” He lowly asked. She nodded. “Cy, make sure your being a warm jacket down!”
TJ shivered in his thin hoodie, realizing he shouldn’t brought a jacket. It was snowing a decent amount, and the wind certainly didn’t help.
He and Cyrus finally met gazes. “Thanks mom, we’ll be back soon. Love you.” Cyrus quickly said before stepping out side with the door closing behind him.
They stood on the porch, staring at one another. “Could we walk?” TJ asked. Cyrus motioned for him to go on, which began their awkward and silent walk.
TJ was nervous still, but he finally decided to speak up. “This was really random, I know. But I need to explain something.” He said hesitantly. Cyrus stopped, looking at TJ with a look saying “go on”.
“You, I, you—we, I um, I’m…” TJ stammered on. “Spit it out.” Cyrus said, much harsher than intended as his heart and body ached with pain.
Worried that Cyrus would get fed up and walk away, he began talking really fast and in confusing circles.
“Cyrus, I’m so sorry that I broke up with you and that I hurt you without any explanation. I was lying when I said our relationship was a mistake, and that I didn’t love you, I thought it would be what was best for you and I took it too far and I’m so sorry for everything I said. There’s no excuses for anything except I am an asshole who decided to lie as a way to protect you and—”
“TJ!” Cyrus shouted. “Slow down. Gather your thoughts, I’m not going.” He said, speaking softer than before.
“My dad, he… he lost his job in December. My mom was laid off at work, and we were gonna lose our house. My parents told my sister and I that we were more than likely moving out of Shadyside.” TJ explained, talking at a normal and understandable pace.
Cyrus looked confused. “Why does that have to do with our break up?” He asked. “I didn’t have the heart to tell you we could have been leaving. I thought for sure we were going and that we were going soon, so I thought breaking up with you and making you hate me wouldn’t hurt as much, but it did. And it does. And I’m so sorry for lying to you and for hurting you. You didn’t deserve one bit of it.” TJ continued with a sad and teary sigh. “I don’t expect you to forgive me, but I needed you to know that. Ive owed it to you.”
He waited for Cyrus to say something, anything. But nothing. “I’ll leave you alone, I’ll leave you alone forever if you want that. But please no I am so, so sorry.” His voice broke mid sentence, and he turned and started making his way home.
“I still love you.” TJ froze dead in his tracks. Tears rolled off his cheeks as he looked back at Cyrus, who had tears of his own staining his face. “I never stopped, I don’t know if I can.”
Cyrus slowly stepped toward the blonde haired boy, placing a gentle arm on his bicep and turning him around.
“Look, TJ…” Before Cyrus could continue,he was cut off. “Cyrus—” Cyrus shook his head. “Let me talk.” TJ quickly shut up. “Teej, what you said to me, it hurt me. A lot. It broke my heart beyond belief, and I never thought I’d be happy again,” He started. TJ felt his heart beat rapidly as he waited for Cyrus to continue. “You lies to me and broke up with me without any reason. For that, I don’t think I can fully forgive you yet.” He continued on.
Cyrus grabbed one of TJ’s hands, “But, I love you. And I want to try this again.” TJ almost started bawling. “Cyrus I— you don’t know how happy that makes me to hear that, but how? I hurt you so bad, I told you I didn’t love you! Which was the biggest lie. I said things I can and never will be able to take back, and I hate myself for it. I hate myself so much for how I hurt you. Cy, I love you so so so much and I hurt you…” TJ rambled on and on.
“I don’t care about any of that!” Cyrus exclaimed, cupping TJ’s face in his hands. “I love you, and sometimes love is gonna hurt and is gonna be hard, I’ll forgive you eventually, it’ll take time, but I want— no, need you in my life again. I need you back, Teej.”
TJ couldn’t believe it. So much was happening at once, and he couldn’t help but start sobbing. Cyrus pulled him into his shoulder, allowing him to cry in his shoulder. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry… I,” TJ paused. “Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me.” Cyrus whispered. “There’s no need.” He patted TJ’s back, and he soon pulled away and wiped his eyes.
They rested their foreheads on each other’s, their breathes mixing to create one between them. Cyrus was the one to close the gap, standing on his tip toes and leaning forward, connecting their lips. The kiss said so many things. It said I’m sorry, it said I love you, it said don’t leave me and it said I’ve missed you so much.
The words stuck unspoken, they both knew to was true. That didn’t keep TJ from saying “I love you so much” against the brunette boy’s lips. Cyrus pulled away, “I love you too.” He said in a soft and sweet voice. A happy voice. A loving voice. Cyrus grabbed TJ’s hands.
“You’re freezing! Let’s get you to inside, ASAP!” TJ chuckled but didn’t argue. He and Cyrus stayed inseparable from then on, they were madly in love and they knew it too.
Nothing, nothing would keep them and their love apart ever again.
Truth-or-Dare is the best Matchmaker
Summary: Andi invites the GHC +their crushes to a game night, in hopes of finally getting them together. They each take turns drawing a piece of paper from a cup, each slip has a truth or dare on it.
Tyrus, Muffy, and Wandi
This is my first ever fic, so it’s gonna be pretty bad lol. I hope you can still enjoy it a bit though! Also, this is mostly Tyrus sooo yeah don’t expect much from any of the other ships xD
“Sure Buffy, sure,”. TJ rolled his eyes, grabbing a thin slip of paper from the red plastic cup.
“It’s always a competition for you, no matter what the time and where it is.”
“TJ, you know that’s not true. I can be serious when I want to!” Buffy replied, rolling her eyes back at him.
“Sure Buffy, sure-” she mocked in a terrible low pitched voice, then snatched the cup from TJ’s lap, “-just read the dare you got on that paper, TJ!” she finished.
“Jokes on you, I got truth,” he replied wiggling his eyebrows and smiling.
TJ skimmed the question and furrowed his eyebrows.
“Who do you trust the least in this room?” he read out loud. He looked around the room to see Andi, with one eyebrow raised. Marty gave Buffy a mischievous smirk, and Buffy playfully pushed him in response. Walker had an unreadable expression, looking almost uninterested in the conversation, and Cyrus looked worried, avoiding eye contact. TJ looked at Cyrus a little longer than the rest, almost getting lost in his big brown eyes, and his cute-
Crap. TJ pulled away his eyes from Cyrus. The longer TJ knew him, the harder it was to avoid staring at him. He didn’t want to scare Cyrus off with all the glances he stole, so he decided to forget he was there, and answer the stupid truth or dare question.
“I guess Walker. Sorry man, I don’t know you too well so…”
Walker nodded and smiled. Andi whispered something to Buffy that made her snort, and Buffy looked between TJ and Walker. She gave Andi one last glance then slid the cup to Walker.
Walker pulled out a truth as well, read it, and his eyes widened. His eyes then darted across the room.
“Well, what is it Walker?” Andi asked, holding back a giggle.
“Who is the hottest in the room?” Walker read, his voice cracking. He immediately turned to Andi.
“Andi!” he shouted, his face instantly turning dark pink.
“Uh- no I mean- ah screw it!” everyone in the group burst into laughter, all aware of his obvious crush on Andi.
Andi smiled, and when she thought no one was looking, she gave him a peck on the cheek. TJ saw it though, and he smiled. But then he felt a ping in his chest, and his smile faded as fast as it came. I want that with someone. He thought. And he knew exactly who. Darn it. I do have a crush. Amber was right.
Andi pulled out a dare, and burst into laughter as she read it.
“Eat a spoonful of ketchup without anything else with it-”
“I’ll get the ketchup!” Cyrus yelled, and darted through the door.
Everyone looked over at the door Cyrus went through, and heard the banging of his footsteps going down the stairs. They all burst into laughter once again, except for TJ. TJ was worried now. How did he not notice how quiet Cyrus was? He must be upset about something. TJ followed Cyrus down the steps to talk.
“You ok, Underdog?” he asked. Cyrus flinched and slammed shut the cabinet door he opened, turning to face TJ.
“Sorry! Didn’t mean to scare you.” TJ apologized.
Cyrus looked up at TJ, and gave a weak smile, then glanced back at the cabinet. “I’m fine, it’s just that me and Truth or Dare have a… complicated… relationship. I always end up stressing the whole game..” he answered, and looked down.
“What’s so stressful? If you don’t mind me asking.” TJ questioned, smiling as he listens to Cyrus’s angelic voice. Dammit TJ, don’t be weird. He scolded himself.
“I just-” Cyrus sighed,”-I just would prefer if people didn’t find out about some of my ‘stuff’ all because of the horrid tricks of Truth or Dare.” he said, placing down the ketchup bottle in his hand. He looked back up at TJ’s eyes, and saw the adorable green sparkle in his eyes, the sparkle he got whenever he understood what Cyrus meant. He always gets lost at sea every single time his eyes looked into TJ’s mesmerizing teal oceans.
TJ smiled at him, nodding. He grabbed the ketchup bottle next to Cyrus and a clean spoon from the silverware drawer.
“Just remember you don’t need to stress about it Cyrus, it’s just a silly game for entertainment-” Cyrus giggled, being all adorable, “-your friends are close to you, you won’t lose them over a simple party game.” TJ felt himself blush, and he quickly looked in the other direction towards the stairs so Cyrus wouldn’t see it. “L-let’s just get back upstairs before the others get suspicious.”
Cyrus nodded, already making his way up the steps.
The game was pretty fun. All the questions and dares in the cup were mostly fun and harmless. None of those 'I dare you to kiss so and so’ or 'who is your crush’ nonsense. But that all changed once the cup ran out of truths and dares. Oh, and Marty let a 'cute’ slip out of his mouth when asked a question about Buffy. Oops.
“Marty Truthordare‽” Andi rushed. Eager to hear his response.
“Dare?” Marty replied. As he saw the growing grin on Andi’s face, and he heard her quietly whisper “yes!”, he quickly regretted his decision.
“Kiss B- uh I mean, I dare you to kiss the person of your choice on the lips!” She shouted.
Long story short, Buffy and Marty kissed, for quite a while.
Then they kissed again.
And admitted their feelings.
“Ooo”’s and “aww”’s filled the room. Everyone knew they were in love since the day Marty ‘returned from the party’.
TJ and Cyrus’s eyes somehow met, both thinking the same thought. Finally, took them long enough. Cyrus smiled, and TJ winked back. Was that too flirty? Shoot! TJ instantly regretted winking but Cyrus simply giggled in response, turning back to Marty and Buffy. His giggle made TJ’s heart skip a beat.
“Wow! Who knew all of the lovebirds would finally get together all because of a truth or dare game.” Andi laughed.
Cyrus winced. “It’s always Truth or Dare. Never the person’s choice, no no.” he mumbled, with a bit of edge to his tone. Of course only the straights get their crushes to like them back. He thought, almost adding a grumpy ’straights’ to the end of his sentence.
Everyone looked over at Cyrus, and he turned pink. He probably shouldn’t have said that out loud. Great.
Buffy raised an eyebrow, but then it clicked for her. Her facial expression softened, and she whispered her “discovery” in Andi’s ear. Andi’s eyes widened as Buffy whispered to her, and Andi couldn’t help but look between Cyrus and TJ. Then her lips formed an “O”, and her eyes settled on TJ’s face.
Crap, crap, crap they know, they know! TJ felt his face warm up and did not want to go as pink as Cyrus. Then it would be obvious. Truth or Dare would end with him being rejected by his one close friend. He could not loose Cyrus. Anyone but him.
“Uh, I’m gonna-”
“Hey TJ, you haven’t gone in awhile, Truth or Dare?” Walker asked, interrupting TJ. TJ didn’t know if he caught on, or was simply trying to include him in the game.
“Uh, tr-no, dare. Wait no, truth. Truth.” TJ stuttered.
“Do you have a crush?” Walker asked. Andi started to giggle but Buffy shut her down very quickly.
“Uh, I guess.” Replied TJ, a bit more confident. “Yeah, I do have a crush. And h-” TJ stopped himself quickly. No, no, no. “-they’re, they’re really…nice” TJ squeaked. There went all his confidence. Apparently he was not a very confident jock when it came to crushes.
Eyebrows were raised all around the room, Walker was smiling a 'oh really?’ smile. Andi kept giggling while Buffy and Marty were giving each other the look. And Cyrus- oh Cyrus. Why does he looked so worried?
TJ soon found out why Cyrus looked so worried.
It’s almost like the group decided to have some “fun” with TJ and Cyrus.
“Cyrus, truth or dare?” Marty asked, snickering.
“Truth.” Cyrus mumbled. He knew what was coming, and didn’t know how to stop it.
“Is your crush in the room?” He asked.
“You know, it depends on what the room-”
“Cyrus!” Buffy and Andi shouted in unison, then broke out in the giggles after.
“Yes!” he quickly shouted, startled, “They are! They are. Marty, truth or dare?” he asked, trying to quickly change the subject.
“Dare-”
“I dare you to never ask me about crushes or kisses or love and so on for the rest of the game ok? Pleaseandthankyou!” Cyrus gasped for air and gave Marty a I’m-warning-you-and-you-better-not-play-matchmaker look. Marty winked and looked over to TJ.
“TJ truth-”
“If you don’t want it to be obvious that something’s up, you’re doing a very bad job at it.” TJ interrupted, “Dare, by the way,” he quickly added.
Marty giggled and said, “I dare you to kiss your crush, on the lips, if they are in the room. You chicken out, I tell the room what I heard over the phone with Amber a week ago-”
“That‽ No, no. Not that.”
'That’ must have been pretty bad because TJ looked to Cyrus without any hesitation.
“Ok Cyrus, I’m so sorry, but yeah I’ve had a crush on you since like that time I got you the muffin but like I really don’t want to make you uncomfortable so you really don’t-”
TJ kept rambling while everyone listened, and snickered, rolled eyes and giggled at how adorable he was acting about his crush on Cyrus. He was bright red and he was moving his hands around like crazy. Cyrus looked at everyone in the room and silently thanked them. He then rolled his eyes at TJ’s long speech, smiled, and interrupted him with pulling him in closer to himself, their lips an inch away. TJ then somehow managed to turn an even brighter shade of red.
“Ditto” Cyrus whispered, before closing the gap between them.
Cyrus decided he like Truth or Dare a lot better now. Maybe he should play it more often.
That’s it! (Yeah, it’s short) as you can see it’s a truth or dare, I’m a sucker for truth or dare fics lol. I was considering ambi instead of wandi, but I just love wandi so much and I feel like there isn’t much wandi out there anymore. Plus Walker is just so underrated I love him omg.
