If looks could kill (at Mandalay Hill)
Moment
What would happen were your sense of stability to be simply..stripped? To be pulled you from under you like a rug from a glass table? Would it be like that? Would you hover in air for just a moment? Just before violently crashing into the ground below? Your stability- your sense of whole- shattering into an array of endless shards. What then? One must suppose that, at that juncture, the choice would really be up to you. Undoubtedly there would exist a moment of wonder, then confusion. Hope, then despair. Amusement, then reality. The life you knew will have gone. Changed. Just like that. Where once you knew a glass table, you now know glass. That state of familiarity simply would exist no more.
Consider that possibility every day. That is why - much as your instincts will fight it- you must strive to exist in the present. Enjoy each moment. For all you know, that moment will last only that: a moment.

It's been just over a month since returning from an 8.5 month adventure with my backpack and camera. Finally with laptop and working wifi in-hand, I'm excited to share some of the photos that best capture the experience. That said, this was taken at the circular train stop in Yangon, Myanmar. The Yangon Circular Railway comprises of nearly 30 miles of track, stopping 39 times in a giant loop around the city. The ride is slow, sweaty, and cramped; but it's almost entirely local, and only costs 200 kyat...or 15 cents USD. (at Yangon Circular Railway)

Very Gallant (3/3)
I took this photo in the back of a pickup truck while hitchhiking from Pyin Oo Lwin to Mandalay, Myanmar. I shared a cramped space for 3 hours with several monks and Burmese children. This girl beamed at me the whole time. I can't explain why, but I haven't forgotten that moment and still look back at this to remind me of the inherit kindness that exists in some people. This shot has been posted unedited as is. (at Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar)
