late to this , but here’s raphael’s feelings towards companions / advisors ( note : none of these need to be reciprocated and are susceptible to change in an rp setting , these are just how raphael personally sees those around him in the default game setting ) . the progression goes from outward ➝ in , so the colors closer to the companions / advisors were his initial reactions and those closer to the center are his feelings by the end of trespasser . again , i’m not including who raphael romanced as i don’t want anyone to be pressured into shipping or accusing me of following solely for shipping .

SOLAS : without a doubt the most drastic change , raphael trusted solas immediately as he was the one to show him how to use the mark and was revealed to be the one who kept him alive during his sleep . the bond soon grows into a deeper friendship and , apart from varric , solas is the first one raphael considers a close friend . this , of course , changes during the trespasser as it is revealed that solas is the traitor and raphael pieces together that he is the dread wolf , and turns into outright hatred when solas explains what his plans are .
VIVIENNE : raphael starts out respecting vivienne , seeing her as an instant ally and admiring the powerful and elegant woman . this quickly changes when her views on the circle are made known and raphael , bleeding heart that he is , cannot compromise his own views and principles to get close to her . however , when vivienne still confides in him enough to ask for the wyvern heart and he finds out what it is she is suffering through , he again begins to respect her , seeing her as more than just her controversial views and admiring her for her strength .
MORRIGAN : if it weren’t for the way they met , raphael would have started off respecting morrigan for the powerful and intelligent mage that she is . however , as he was thrust into a setting where he was forced to suspect everyone , this suspicion also applies to morrigan and he distrusts her right away . this distrust persists through her treatment and disregard for abelas and only turns into respect when the truth of her mother and past is revealed . he admires her and respects her counsel enough to ask what her opinions are .
BLACKWALL / RAINIER : immediately respecting blackwall for his title of grey warden , this respect and trust is broken when the truth of his identity is disclosed . although his past actions sickened him and blackwall hadn’t truly gotten close enough for him to consider a friend , raphael was unable to truly dislike the man he had gotten to know . it is with blackwall’s redemption that raphael is finally able to consider the man a friend .
VARRIC : along with solas , varric is the only one raphael immediately trusts and considers a friend given his easygoing nature . that he is one of the only ones to not immediately show animosity towards raphael at the moment when everyone around him was willing to persecute him left a fondness he feels even years later .
THE IRON BULL : upon meeting the qunari , raphael felt more of a wariness than outright distrust , not sure how loyal a mercenary that can be bought could be to the inquisition . this changes radically when the iron bull personally introduces raphael to soldiers of the inquisition , the first glimpse of how much the man cared for those around him , and raphael becomes noticeably warmer to him .
CULLEN : meeting him in the midst of battle with adrenaline running high and coming face to face with a conventionally attractive man , raphael develops an instant crush on the templar ( it seemed the poor boy had a habit of falling for those in the order as his previous crushes while in the circle would show ) . though the crush not strong enough to fluster him around the man , raphael ceases his flirting when he sees there is no reciprocation and instead approaches him as a friend , considering him one of his closest friends .
JOSEPHINE : it was an instant respect raphael felt for the montilyet , admiring her grace and ability to navigate through the hurdles of politics , something he himself couldn’t stand . he begins to see her as more than just an ambassador in skyhold and constantly sees to it that she not overwork herself and enjoy herself every now and then . by the time two years have passed , he considers her one of his best friends .
COLE : although he held an initial distrust for the spirit , raphael quickly becomes protective of the young man following the events of haven and views him almost as a younger sibling .
LELIANA : as with cullen and josephine , raphael immediately trusts and respects the third advisor of the inquisition despite the pseudo-interrogation he was placed in upon their first meeting. it isn’t until her true role and capabilities are shown that raphael begins to distrust her , even going so far as slightly fearing her . but with the events of the future seen in redcliffe , and raphael being distraught at seeing her noble sacrifice with his own eyes , he once again highly admires the spymaster .
CASSANDRA : given her more active and aggressive role in the interrogation , raphael begins distrusting cassandra , almost even disliking her . it’s when she trusts him , a mage , enough with a weapon that the distrust is replaced with respect , knowing how difficult it is for others to place their faith in mages . as he gets to know her and begins to see her more playful moments , a crush begins to bloom . though deciding her friendship is worth more than a relationship , he instead begins to pursue her as a friend .
DORIAN : another raphael is wary of upon meeting given the secrecy of their initial meeting , the distrust turns into a crush during the events of redcliffe , being stranded in the future with him having raphael grow closer to the fellow mage . despite multiple flirtations , raphael sees dorian as a close friend following the meeting with his father , becoming defensive of him in regards to both his father and even mother giselle .
SERA : much like with dorian , the secrecy of their initial meeting has raphael distrusting of sera , coupled with the slight exasperation of how she expresses herself . this is soon remedied and instead raphael considers her a friend when she tells him of the purpose of red jenny , even growing fond of her mannerisms and pranks ( and even assisting in some of them ) .
