He ADORES his brother Totó and wants to do everything with him. Luca -unfortunately- HATES dad most of the time (do not dare try hugging or kissing me dad, I’ll cry like the most terrible thing has happened and run over to mama). 🧸 Favorite toy: whichever brother’s has at the moment (specially if it is a Monster truck or a car toy). 🥘 Favorite food: practically all the fruits 🍉🍓🍌 and sparkling water (we called it “crazy water” at home). 📚 Favorite book: una flor para monet and little engine that could. I made this #NYCBrownstone illustration as a goodbye art project for Marco’s classroom. Same thing as with many other fingerprints art projects I made, this was an idea of a brownstone (a very NYC thing) where each kid could leave a stamp with their fingerprint as a balloon. LIFE UPDATE! 💫 I enjoyed #NYC practically every day of these 14 months here. Now, we’ve received an invitation to change our lives once again and after we did what we do every time we are confronted with a situation like this (lots of thinking, spreadsheets, lists of pros and cons and of course, a bit of listening to our hearts) we decided to accept this new change and... WE ARE MOVING TO THE #BAYAREA (again)!!! 🎉🎉🎉 As a family, we leave #NewYork very happy with our time here: we made new friends, found great doctors when we needed (baby needed a surgery last year and his recovery went great), we did many activities in the city, visited lots of inspiring places and ate too many delicious meals (more details in my NYC highlights stories). In my particular case, I leave NYC with an *almost* ready Children’s Picture Book 📚 This city inspired me to create a rhyming story that came to my mind while trapped underneath my baby napping during one of many complicated nap times. Once the dust settles after this move, I need to re-do one paragraph and send it again to my editor (hence the blank area on this pic) and after his review then... it will be ready for publishing? Yes, please! 🙏 In the meantime, here’s a little sneak peek of one if its pages and YES, it has some #ModernCalligraphy on it! 😉 I hope to finish it soon! 2019 you were so good to me and I’m so thankful for that 💓 In 2019 I moved back to NYC and I taught 3 workshops in this big city until I decided I needed to stop teaching for a while. But in that process, I found my forgotten love to draw (things not letters) and started the longest project I’ve ever done: writing and illustrating a Children’s book. In 2019, I was dedicated to my family a lot and I’m thankful I could do that. I read 16 books (half of those are comics though) 📚 I more than doubled the number of steps I was taking each day 💪 I met new friends and got to see old ones too. I travel to visit family and some family traveled to visit us too. Now it’s time to say cheers to 2020! To many new adventures and dreams to fulfill! Here’s to a HAPPY and HEALTHY 2020! This little birdie was the first sketch of an illustration that I did for my #ChildrensBook I’ve been working this project everyday since May this year. I think 6 months might be the longest time that I’ve ever been working consistently and almost exclusively on only one project. Some days I hated it -a lot of days- some days I felt again the enthusiasm and was back at it with joy. But to be honest, a lot of my creative process is like an urge, like an incessant force, like something I need to get out of my head, out of me. Fast forward to this week: Today I got to a very special milestone. I’ve read the first printed version to my audience: an amazing group of little New Yorkers in my son’s class! All the time I prepared for the worst -deal with my pessimism folks but English is not my first language and I had to read aloud in English to a very specific kind of public: KIDS! Anyway. It went fantastic! So much better than I anticipated, I kind of felt they loved it. No one, and seriously no one, complained about that shade that I see it’s not properly done. Not one said anything about that rhyme that still feels odd to me. I used to say to my calligraphy students that in real life, most of the time only oneself will be the one that sees that tiny little thing that is not “perfect”. Well. I need to apply what I was teaching now 🤪🙈😅😅😅 So back to the book. I have to finish working on two or three details and wait also to hear some feedback from other beta-readers and we’ll be ready to finish for good soon! In the meantime, here’s the little birdie, first thing I drew for this book. But he didn’t make to the finals so, here’s his ephemeral moment of fame! This is me in my happy place: #NewYorkCity Still drawing letters? Kind of. I’m working on a book 📚 writing and illustrating it ✍️ I’ve been doing it everyday since May this year and still have a lot of work to do. That’s kind of my 3rd most important project at this time (being 1st&2 my personal life). Next workshop? Online only for now. I am not certain about upcoming dates for in-person ones. I’m happy we’re back in NYC but still working on how to manage between this new chapter, my art and my life as a mom of two (one now a toddler!). I’ve tried not to be so much time on social media lately (ironic that I still manage all the sm for @punti_app and @cuore_app though 😅 but that’s different, it’s more work related, not personal nor art).
