She did not need much, wanted very little. A kind word, sincerity, fresh air, clean water, a garden, kisses, books to read, sheltering arms, a cozy bed, and to love and be loved in return.

And sometimes I have kept my feelings to myself, because I could find no language to describe them in.

hi! i'm a new Christian, and I believe in the loving God, and that Jesus died for us and that's how we were able to be clean and forgiven, but i'm having doubts on how he was raised. For so much of my life I've been very bitter against Christianity, so it's hard for me to adjust and i need a lot of advice and guidance. Thanks
same anon who is a new Christian. My biggest fear is that I’m putting words into God’s mouth or making Him a pocket-god by doubting the resurrection. I also don’t know if this is evidence that I haven’t been saved or don’t believe. So i’m going around in circles because I’m having doubts, which makes me think I’m not saved and not loved and not believing properly(which i’m not) and i am just so sad. ive already prayed about this, what else can i do? are there any particular verse that would help
When it comes to the resurrection of Jesus, it’s probably not going to be something that end up believing because it’s rational or logical (in the way that we normal think about reason and logic). Because Jesus’ resurrection is an event that not only happens in this age, but in the age to come. And we simply don’t know how things work in the age to come. It isn’t irrational, but it is transnational—it transcends conventional reason.
So, what really drew me to passionately embrace the resurrection of Jesus (even though I was raised to take it as fact, it wasn’t something that was true for me until much later on) was not apologetics, or arguments based on logic and reason. Rather it was beauty that led me to believe in the resurrection.
Jesus’ resurrection is a beautiful doctrine. Because it means that our death is not in vain. It means that what is true of Jesus now will be true of all humanity some day. It means that God wants to restore the world and renew the brokenness, not simply get rid of it. It means that our bodies are good things that God wants to raise, not destroy—the same with creation. It means that there is hope for us.
If our sins were forgiven, but Jesus wasn’t raised, Paul says that our faith doesn’t even make any sense (1 Corinthians 15:14). And he doesn’t say that because he’s just trying to be a stickler for sound doctrine. He’s saying that because of what the resurrection means for us and how beautiful it is.
It’s okay to doubt. You are still loved by God and accepted and have nothing to fear in his presence. But believing in the resurrection changes the entire way you see the world. Because it isn’t just about adhering to a fact or bit of information, it’s about the conviction that God isn’t done with us yet. And that’s beautiful.
why are all the jokes straight people make about being married like, “isn’t it hilarious how much we despise each other?” like oh my god, no? seek help?

who isn’t problematic tbh I don’t know a single person who doesn’t have something they need to work on I used to be a piece of shit but I’m making progress!!!

In Advent, the Church stands between two proclamations: “God has come!” and ‘Come, Lord Jesus, come!’

There is a profound courage shown when we can love again, even in the face of pain and sorrow; like a flower that reaches for the sun, even after it endured the harshness of winter. Healing calls for patience, but it also calls for a brave heart because when you have healed fully, you will learn to love each day that you are alive.

If Christian love is essentially a participation in God’s love for the world, then we have to ask whether we can distinguish at all between love of God and love of neighbor. Does not true love consist of sharing in God’s love for the world? And in the depth of turning to the cohuman Thou do we not also love God?
