More than half of group members know I've struggled with depression since the 3rd grade, with t being rooted in the authenticity of my friendships, BUT WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT MATTER RIGHT BECUS AT LEAST YOU CATCH THE SUICIDAL WARNING SIGNS IN A FICTIONAL TV SHOW RIGHT.

I have such high expectations of myself that when my body gives up for 15 minutes to take a nap and I wake up and it's too late to do anything, I'm so on edge because of how unaccomplished I feel 😔 I hate this. I wish I was more high-functioning

Today at therapy was really hard. I was sitting here crying, and generally being miserable, when I felt a nudge at my knee. I looked down to see that Zeus, my service dog, was doing his job… and brought me a potato. it is very hard to cry with a gift of potato.

So during my 3rd year, there was a distinct moment that made/broke my pending REALLY GOOD FRIENDSHIP with this one chick. I HAVE SO MUCH REGRET BECUS WE COULD HAVE BEEN SUCH GOOOD FRIENDS

Reminder why I hate coming home. Every nice outing with my family usually ends up in some negative life story. I just sat thinking and my dad comes over with a fucking pamphlet about how to identify if I'm being a bad friend and continues to say that I shouldn't trust other people with parts of my life becus at the end of the day they're still "other people" (even if I consider them my best friends). This is really damaging for me and probably explains my inability to develop close, personal relationships. Honestly, I know I need to begin at home and start talking about these destructive habits and how they're not okay, but I literally know how damaging my parents are to my own self-worth and health, and this is exactly why I seek refuge in other people. This behavior is not new, but thinking that every time I encounter this situation and thinking next time will be different is exhausting. I know I'm lucky to be close to my parents, but it comes at a price: complacently taking their emotional and mental abuse as they continue to "advise" me by isolating me from trusting other people, and reasoning it's out of love.

I really want to work on being the best version of myself as possible, and as independent from the opinions of my so-called homies. I know it's not the best reason, but part of it is because I want to be able to look back and think, "y'all silenced me, isolated me, and made me feel like there was something wrong with me...without supporting or helping to uplift me back into a place of worth". & I know it'll be hard, esp since I'm the type to want to share the small parts of my day with someone, esp because I wear my heart on my sleeve, but I really hope it's worth it

ways to start feeling again

sit in the sun without anything to do, feel the heat of the rays hit your skin, realize that this sunlight has travelled a very long way to reach you

walk around barefoot and try to feel as much of the ground under your feet as you can, notice every rock and blade of grass

sit quietly for a while and notice the touch of breath in your nostrils, feel how the air gets cooler as you inhale and warmer as you exhale

drive around aimlessly and blast some of your favorite songs, scream/sing along to them and feel the vibrations of your favorite lyrics as they change the air in your throat and around you, feel that the music is healing you from the inside out

stay away from alcohol or drugs for a few days, try to be as aware and present as you can in every moment, stop trying to numb or dull your senses

eat a few meals without any distractions, notice every bite and taste every flavor that covers your tongue, be grateful for it all

look up at the stars and the moon, understand how small we all are and how immense the universe is, realize what a miracle everything is, let your heart swell with amazement and admiration for life itself

ok this is actually cool bc doing all of this is a technique called “mindful thinking” that is extremely useful for people with anxiety disorders and dissociation disorders and stuff!

I think I'm upset becus if he were to, say, fall in love again, it would suck to have feeling for someone, to care about people, and know that I'm not anyone's best friend, girlfriend, first choice, priority, etc. And I know I complain a lot, but I don't even talk a lot. I know I should work on loving myself as much as I love others, but idk. 🙃 If I ever live by myself, I think it'd be mighty easy to disappear.
