He rides headfirst into a hurricane and disappears into a point And there’s nothin’ left but some blood where the body fell That is, nothin’ left that you could sell Just junk all across the horizon, a real highwayman’s farewell
Make or Break || Cait & Andrew
Cait was terrified. After texting Andrew, she had no idea what to do but wait. She spent a short while trying to distract herself, getting Hollie ready for bed, some tiny part of her hoping that he’d forget, or that somehow, her messages hadn’t sent. She wasn’t sure what she was doing, but it had pushed her out of her comfort zone. She’d never told anyone about her past before, it was her baggage and hers alone. She’d never felt that she had to share it, there was no need to dump that kind of information on someone else. Except now, now she had a reason to. The man wanted to marry her, and she’d been keeping secrets from him since the night they’d met.
She’d decided this was it. She wasn’t going to hide anything from him any more. After tucking Hollie into bed, she made her way to the bathroom to change, switching her jeans and sweater for a more comfortable tank and shorts combination. She stood by the sink for a long moment, considering whether or not this was a good idea. It had to be, right? Her eyes began to water as she cleaned the makeup from her arms and her face, baring the scars she tried so hard to keep hidden. Her fingers traced the burn scars on her forearms, her eyes catching the deep scar on her hairline in her reflection. She wasn’t sure what she was more afraid of; telling the truth, or risking the possibility that he would change his mind. She’d been broken before, she didn’t know if she could survive it again. Cait stared at her reflection, quickly wiping tears from her face. She could do this, she had to do this. There wasn’t another option. She swept her hair up into a loose bun and took a deep breath, deciding that she had to leave the bathroom; regardless of how naked and exposed she felt.
Cait made her way downstairs, keeping quiet to make sure she didn’t disturb her daughter. Her hands were shaking as she stepped into the living room, sitting down on the couch and trying to calm herself slightly. She tried to gather herself, to figure out where she was going to begin, how she could get these words out without faltering, stuttering, embarrassing herself. She tucked her legs up underneath her, trying to slow her breathing, to focus on calming herself back down. She’d make it through this. She had to. Her eyes darted to the window every time she heard a noise outside, trying to make herself look comfortable on the couch as she waited for him to show up. She couldn’t quite comprehend how far out of her comfort zone this had put her, but she was running on the hope that this would be a good thing, that it would lift a weight from her shoulders, that she’d finally have someone to rely on and to confide in. A light sigh escaped her lips and she toyed with the hem of her shorts nervously, waiting.
Andrew flipped the visor up, the light that emanating from it burned his now blurred vision. What in the hell was he thinking? Did he honestly believe that love could exist in a world with such turmoil? That monogamy would even begin to actually work when everyone worked on such a self level? Andrew knew nothing about those two instrumental parts of marriage yet there he was juggling the velvet box between his fingers. This would definitely combust and engulf every quieted fear he had, burning him from the inside but she made it worth it. From the guarded smile and ruthless determination, he fell in love with the most difficult and battered woman. What a joy.
His vein coursed with an unwavering confidence, cool and icy with a twinge of excitement. It couldn't be that bad right? She'd considered it all night and now he was coming to here this whole speech on why he couldn't love her. Too bad Cait, he loved you and that was that. The freshly pressed suit wrinkled from his pacing outside of her door. This was a huge decision but he didn't have to be such a pansy about it. Andrew pushed the box deep into his pocket before knocking softly knowing it was far past Hollie's bedtime.

Cait: About your question...
Cait: Andrew... There are a lot of things you don't know about me. There's a lot I need to tell you before you go through with this, you might not want to by the end. But I need you to know. Can you come by my place? I'd rather talk about it in person...
Andrew: There isn't anything you can tell me that will change my mind.
Andrew: I'll be right over.
So I’ll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep and I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe.
Roxie arched a brow at him, her face deadpanning. “I think you win boyfriend of the year for that.” She stepped back to grab a bin filled of clean glasses and started to stack them in their place. “You say that now, but then tomorrow would come and you’d forget that the tag or writing goes in the back of your boxers and then question where was I to help with the situation.”
"Well she's thinking about it, gets me somewhere. I got a ring and all that too. I just was testing the water per say. Your reactions expresses distain, why?" Andrew took a longer swig of his beer, smoothing out his suit. "Ah, you are a riot, Sullivan. Just remember who pays your bills from time to time. When the tips are low and the chips are down. It's your job to keep me in line as is mine to keep you above the poverty line. Have you given any thought to the assistant position?"
She smiled sweetly and slid the beer across the counter. “Much better. And I don’t annoy you. I keep you a gentlemen. Could you imagine what would be of you if I wasn’t around?” She teased laughing.
"Gentleman my ass. I think I asked someone to marry me through text. is that bad?" He took a swig of his beer, shaking his head at her. "I'd be fine without you."
Roxie arched a brow at him and still held the mug in her hands. “It was fine until some rude customer came in and forgot what manners were. I’m waiting to see if he will correct them.”
"...Please. Will you get me a beer, please." He said through gritted teeth. "Why do you insist on annoying me."
"If you want to try that without the now." Roxie moved behind the bar and poured a beer for Andrew, still waiting for the last part.
"How about no, now how was tonight's shift, mh?" He pulled down a stool and sat down looking up at her.
"Excuse me?"
"Rox, I am not in the mood, Please get me a beer...now."
"Bar’s closed. Sorry."
"The bar is never closed, get me a beer."
