A Guide to Chinese Exam Cheating
Every year up to nine million Chinese students take their gaokao exam . The exam itself is held once a year and acts as a prerequisite for undergraduate courses in China.
As students finish this year’s exam period China Radio International has reported through Kotaku a number of the weird, wacky and ingenious ways students attempted to cheat the system.

“To see Cui Jian to perform at the new year gala is like to hear that your first love has become a prostitute.” Such is the reaction of many rock fans in China when they first learned the news that “the father of Chinese rock” Cui Jian would perform at 2014’s lunar new year show by China Central...

Yang's Fried Soup Dumplings
Boston's Chinatown is home to some delicious dumplings. The gourmet Dumpling House (南北风味) and Taiwan Cafe (海之味) are both awesome dumpling destinations on Beach St. to grab these little pockets of deliciousness. So, you could say that my expectations were set fairly high before I got to China. But I was going to the home of the dumpling and assumed Dumpling House fare would be be almost commonplace. Right? Those dumpling were are so good in fact that much to my surprise, I was unable to to find a good soup dumpling that compared to that taiwanese-style cuisine I loved so much back in America.
It was not until one of my last days in that I learned of the Xianzhenbao ,a sweet, fried soup dumpling, that it I felt hope begin to return to my heart. This Shanghai specialty had it going on, so many flavors/ texture profiles going on at the same time, all seeming to fit perfectly with each other. I can say with great certainty that this is the culinary creation that I will be missing the most.
Shanghai Part 2: Silk Factory
踢毽子 (Ti Jianzi)
Jianzis ,as you can probably tell from the photos above, are essentially the Chinese equivalent of a hacky sack. They are made simply out of soda can clippings and feathers of some kind held together on small rubber base. Here one of our last Jianzi sessions in China, that ended in sorrow...
Shanghai Part 1:
Finally, the last stop of our journey before we head home. Shanghai turned out to be another drastic departure of from the rest of China I've seen so far. It is by far the most westernized of all the Chinese cities I've been to. The amount of foreigners is noticeably higher than even Beijing, and the chances of finding a burger king or even a Starbucks around the corner seem to have have greatly increased.
Shanghai is huge modern, packed with things to do. It's too bad we only had three days because that's only enough to have you wanting more.
