Tea ceremony!!

Matcha is not a purely japanese fenomenon, as powdered tea originally comes from Song dynasty, China. When I learned this fact, I was very curious about other types of powdered teas.

Well today is the day tea friends! When I was visiting home, my dear friend gifted me this black tea powder.

My chawans sadly got stuck together but I was too excited to try this beauty, so I had to continue my mission. (Sadly, I couldn't save the bigger one in the end and it cracked ;-;).

The result is somewhat of a bitter ordeal ofcourse, so if you can't tolerate pure matcha, you probably won't like this very much either. Smell is similiar to a regular black tea - roasted and earthy. Both the texture and taste reminded me of unsweetened cocoa powder. I have also tried creating a drink by adding milk and maple sirup, no regrets.

As I find a bigger chawan again I hope to learn more about the art of dian cha and hopefully try more of these type of teas!
