a contestant on a competition reality tv show i religiously watched when i was 15 followed me on twitter today, after presumably seeing a comic i drew about being 15 (and their name is the same as the person in the comic’s name asldkghasdlghasioghos)

literally thought it was a misclick but nope, it’s still there, a writer and activist who is very smart and good at what they do, who i watched sing and dance on tv when they were like 23, with 50 thousand followers, for some reason wants to keep looking at the sad 4-panel comics i draw at one am about Teen Feelings. my past niche hobbies are catching up with present me and i am losing my mind

i think they saw it when it was rted from this other cartoonist which actually like, that was a very good feeling...getting a lot of rts or favs is whatever because there are a lot of random people out there but i saw the people who i Really Really admire faving it or telling me it was good and that makes me feel really proud of myself

edit i followed them and now the people in the “who to follow” section are all from the same reality tv show from 6 years ago

ohhhhh this is so silly and unproductive of me to be thinking about but i’m really bothered that my thesis teacher completely didn’t even realize that i got into a Big Deal show that the dept makes a Big Deal of every year........she actively congratulated my classmate (who wasn’t in class today) in front of the entire class as an announcement and just.......idk i get the feeling that she didn’t even know i got in too..........even though she congratulated at least three of my classmates from last semester on instagram..................aahhhhh.....i get that it was probably just an oversight but the list is only 14 students long.

aaaaahhhhh i don’t even know i just really crave people’s acknowledgment and acceptance...i’ve spent almost my entire college life feeling completely lost and alone and it’s only in the past couple of semester that i’ve started to find my footing in my schoolwork and make friends (in my very slow way). i’ve only just started to gain professional accomplishments in the past several months and i was so proud of myself when i got that e-mail but stuff like this just makes me feel alone...it drives me crazy to know that other people have huge support systems and like leagues of cheerleaders and i feel fortunate to even be able to say hi to someone in passing. that’s not their fault, it’s mine, but it still upsets me.....

and it doesn’t really help that i’m just forgettable in general, my teacher in high school basically asked me who i was like over a month into the semester (i sat in the front) and one of my teachers this semester kept calling me crystal and made a big deal out of apologizing like six times and straight up told me that he had trouble telling apart his asian students so like also that was cool (also definitely not the first time a teacher here has mistaken me for another asian girl, or a figure of authority has been racist to me [and now every time i see that guy on my tumblr dashboard i can admire his work and then remember what he said to me lol] but anyway)......ohhhh i don’t know i don’t even say hi to some of my old teachers and TAs because i think they must have forgotten who i was so it would be weird to even greet them but that probably just adds to my problem instead i hate this......

the teacher i TA for showed an editorial illustration of a cute, rpg-inspired adventurer with a bunch of veggies and sparkles and ended up describing it as “zelda filling his bag with fruits and vegetables” and honestly it was the best part of my entire day
