I just mean.. what does everyone else matter if there’s gonna be that one person for you, you know? ”

“She is. She’s got a talent for it, which cannot be said about Dylan, which I’m partly to blame for. College is doing him well, though. It’s the first time looking after himself on his own. Chelsea on the other hand has always shown interest in cooking. Perfect, I’ll let Chelsea know. How are things at home? Your mom’s doing well? Do you want a glass of water?”
“ That sounds like a mother’s dream! Or nightmare. Probably both. Depending on how well he’s managing the looking after himself. Must be nice to have the whole family get together again now. Oh, no no thanks, I’m very alright. But thanks. And yeah, she’s doing good, thank you. How’s Mr. Jennings? ”
samantha--jennings:
“Thank you, Andy. Mr. Jennings will also be reassured to hear that. He’s even worse than I am with these things. It’s my mother’s recipe, so I’ll be sure to tell her you think so. She’s taught me how to cook it when I was about your age. It took me years to perfect it and even now I still think it’s not close to my mother’s. Don’t be silly. You’re not intruding. You’re a friend of Chelsea’s and you’re always welcome here. Dylan’s staying the whole of December. We’ll have enough family dinners. ”
“ Oh, it’s a proper family recipe. That’s so exciting, that makes it even better. Yeah, please do tell her. Makes sense to me now that Chels is such a natural with you two as an example. She’s great, too. We would’ve been completely lost without her in the summer, so. Yeah. That’s so kind. Thanks, Mrs. Jennings. In that case, I would love to. Not going to be passing up such a kind offer and the chance of your casserole. ”
samantha--jennings:
“That’s very sweet of you, Andy. Chelsea’s very lucky to have an attentive friend like you. It’s already getting so dark out, so that’s a good idea. Will you be walking her home later too? Just wait until the snowpdrops bloom in a few weeks. Oh, stop. I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s also Dylan’s favorite. He’s coming home next week, so I’m sure I’ll be making a casserole some time then. You’re invited to come and have dinner with us.”
“ Of course, yeah, don’t mention it. Happy to do that anytime. Yeah, for sure, I’ll walk her home. Unless she’ll stay at.. at Dani’s.. which.. I don’t think she’ll do on a school night. So. Yeah. No, seriously. I’m totally serious, I didn’t just enjoy it, it was awesome. Really the best. Oh, that’s so kind. I would love to if that’s okay with your family. I don’t want to intrude, I’m sure you’ve got a bunch of family things planned. ”
samantha--jennings:
“Oh. Andy, hello. Don’t worry, you’re not interrupting, come on in. It’s freezing out here. I didn’t know you were picking up Chelsea. You like the flowers? Thank you, they’re pansies and violas and bloom especially in the winter season. They’re beautiful. That’s very alright, don’t you worry. I’ve spoken to Chelsea. She’s still upstairs getting ready. You can have a seat in the living room with me if you want. I haven’t seen you in a while.”
“ Oh, yeah, yeah, thanks. It really is freezing now, but I think they said we’re not getting any more snow this week. Just rain. Another cosy Thanksgiving that’ll be this year. Oh yeah, because.. like, Toby can’t make it tonight so I thought I would. It’s on the way, so. And I didn’t want Chels to have to walk all by herself. They’re so nice! Like, colourful. Really brightens up this drab weather. But your flowers are always nice. Best in the neighbourhood, Mrs. Jennings. Oh. Yeah, for sure. Thanks so much. It has been a while. Never forgetting that casserole you made then, though. I still tell everyone about it. ”

“ Oh, hey, Mrs. Jennings. So sorry, I hope I’m not interrupting anything. How are you tonight? I love the flowers you’ve put up outside, they look lovely, I bet it’s a lot of work caring for them. Do they survive the cold well? I’m here to pick up Chelsea, we’re going to watch a movie at Dani’s. I hope that’s alright. ”
