David Hockney
A free and open spirit who creates.
To me a major influence in image making.
To others an unknown name. This shocks me.

Art to me is an anecdote of the spirit, and the only means of making concrete the purpose of its varied quickness and stillness.
Mark Rothko
New to me but helping me fall back in love with the stolen moment, the caught moment, the recorded moment.

Lillian Bassman
The directing of a picture involves coming out of your individual loneliness and taking a controlling part in putting together a small world. A picture is made. You put a frame around it and move on. And one day you die. That is all there is to it.
John Huston
The end of a picture is always an end of a life.
Sam Peckinpah
Create your own visual style...let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.
Orson Welles
Be yourself. I much prefer seeing something, even it is clumsy, that doesn't look like somebody else's work.
William Klein
No I in Team
This is a statement that has become a cliche. But it has a sense of truth.
Especially in the world of filmmaking.
Whereas the photographic image is most often created through a singular vision.
The moving image is created through a shared vision.
It is a concept which a lot of photographers struggle with.
But I feel will have to overcome.
Good taste is the first refuge of the non-creative. It is the last-ditch stand of the artist.
Marshall McLuhan
Television is becoming a collage - there are so many channels that you move through them making a collage yourself. In that sense, everyone sees something a bit different.

Analogue
I am currently buying analogue cameras on ebay with a cost limit of £5.
Each one that arrives, I fit with a roll of film and start shooting.
Without knowledge as to how the images will turn out. If at all.
I like this.
I am rediscovering the excitement of photography.
Don't accept the old order. Get rid of it.
John Lydon (nee Johnny Rotten)
Please Do Not Tell Me This Is Not Happening...
I say to people that this is happening. That we are now in a creative period in which anything is possible. In which the camera is the tool. It's price or marketing of no importance.
I am told that I am wrong. That this is not true. That this is not happening.
Here is some of the proof that it is.
Shooting For The BBC
A minute before the new Canon C300 and Nikon D4 arrived, I started to work with the Sony NEX5 in a normal short feature for broadcast environment. The little Sony is a lot of fun to work with. Its low light capability is very nice and working in even 1600 ISO it is absolutely ‘worry free’. Moiré and aliasing are there but after working with the Canon 7d how can I complain? I was working EVF connected and my sequences (even the interviews) did not stress the camera to the limit. The BBC Close-Up series focuses on aspects of life in countries and cities around the world.
BBC Cameraman Johnnie Behiri
Isn't life a series of images that change as they repeat themselves?
Andy Warhol
Warhol
Today I visited an exhibition of the work of Andy Warhol.
I was inspired to take more risks.
