THE BOY NAMED CROW The story “the boy named crow” is very inspiring, it is full of lessons and it really moved me. The author did a great job in writing the story because it is an effective one. The story is about kafka, a 15 year old who’s trying to run away from home; he also hides his identity or has an alter ego. An alter ego is a second self in which is believed to be distinct from a person’s normal or original self. Honestly, I’m not sure if having an alter ego is a good thing, but based on this story his alter ego have caused positive thing to the boy because it is the reason why he changed his decision to run away. For me it is important that we should listen or we should consider our conscience and the people around us before we make any decisions. We should know what would be it’s effect or outcome. In everything we do, we must think first and don’t let the situation take us.

The story “a thousand splendid suns” first showed about inequality, insecurity, and discrimination about women. I can say that I understand all the women who faces these problems because I know what it feels like to have insecurities and discriminate by others, and that is one of the worst feelings for a girl. We shouldn’t feel that; we should feel empowered. And it is sad to think that some women out there are facing these problems.  This story is very realistic, this shows how women are treated nowadays, which is very wrong. They showed that women are not respected and they don’t value women. This story is very timely, especially now in our generation because women nowadays are not treated the way they should be. Women should be loved, cared, and respected because they are the ones who gave birth and sacrificed so it is just right that women should be respected and appreciated. I got very angry to Rasheed when i read the story because he is an example of an abusive, disrespectful, and a bad husband. No words can explain how much I disgust people like Rasheed because they don’t give importance to women. I pity those women who experienced what Miriam and Laila went through. I realized that people nowadays are so racist and abusive and this is not a good thing. But despite the negative side of the story, I also realized that this story is also about friendship, I’m glad that Miriam and Laila became good friends, I realized that in every bad situation that we are in, and out of all the bad people out there, there are still good people who will came through and help you. I was really touched and moved by this story.

After reading the novel Valley of amazement, realizations came to me. First, we shouldn’t be angry to our parents for what they did. Especially to our mothers because they are the first ones who loved us. We have no idea what they have gone through for us, so we don’t have the right to question what they did. And we shouldn’t believe what we want to, we should believe what is right. In the story, Lulu only listens to what she believes in, that’s why she had a hard time understanding her mom and that is just unfair. This is a beautiful story about a mother and a daughter, this is very inspirational because this novel will make us realize that parents only want nothing but the best to their children, that parents may sometimes make decisions that we may not understand at first, but we don’t know it is for our own good; they only want what’s best for us. I also realized that this story is about acceptance and love.

Malinche

Malinche is a very interesting story, it moved me somehow. It talks about differences. At first it was a bit confusing but the main point is it talks about differences and not everyone has the same perception. Differences can change someone’s perception for something. I think it is hard for Malinalli because her people sees her as a traitor but she only wants the best for them, she wants her people to be free and yet they criticize her negatively. But still Malinalli did the good thing for her people and I think that is what everyone of us should do as well, we must always do the right thing, not what we think we should. I know that it is hard since understanding someone is hard especially when you have a different perception of them, but still Malinalli showed how strong she is to handle situations like that and still she did the good thing.

The Folded earth is a tragic love story of Maya and Micheal, I can see Maya as a very supportive wife, and Micheal as a very passionate man but sensitive or selfish husband because he didn’t think of his wife, he still pursued his passion knowing his wife is worried. The ending of the story is very tragic because Micheal died, but that is the good thing about tragic love stories, even when it hurts it is still full of lessons. It made me realized that there will really come a time where our loved ones will leave, that some people is not meant to stay in our life, and that’s the sad truth. I can’t imagine how hard it is to be left by someone we love, but I think that’s life, people come and go and we just need to accept it and move on. I know it’s not that easy at first but for sure we’ll overcome it in the end. It’s okay to cry and grieve but what’s important is we move on and continue our life, because life doesn’t stop for anyone.

A low art

The literary piece A low art has taught me a lot, this story is about discrimination or being judgemental. Honestly, I can say I’m a very judgemental person before, I say a whatever I want to, without knowing if it’ll hurt someone’s feelings and sometimes I also discriminate other people. But that was before, maybe growing up or getting more matured I’ve realized a lot of things that discriminating other people isn’t a good thing to do. After reading the literary piece, I’m glad that I’m not discriminating other people now like I used to do. I’ve realized that we souldn’t be discriminating people based on how they look, speak, or their race. We shouldn’t look on their outside appearance also. But for those who are or has been discriminated before, they should not do what Penelope is planning, and that is to have a revenge. We must bear in our mind that when someone did something bad to us, doesn’t mean that we’ll do it to them as well. We must still do good to them and continue to have a good heart.
