This little girl’s growing up so quick….but not too quick that she can’t still sit on her dad’s lap
The late Friday night meant a Saturday of sleeping in for Edwin Booth. The Shakespearean actor was up past midnight the night before giving a performance at the Boston Museum. In the midst of his sleep, his servant came into the room and tried to shake him awake. Booth did not want to be bothered. Angered, Booth threw a small object at the servant, which hit the servant in the face. The servant, realizing Booth was half awake, just blurted out the message: President Lincoln was dead and his brother– John Wilkes Booth– shot him. Booth’s anger turned into a daze of disbelief. Edwin recalled the thoughts and feelings going through his head once he heard the news, “[My] mind accepted the fact at once. [I] thought to [myself] that [my] brother was capable of just such a wild and foolish action. It was just as if I was struck on the forehead with a hammer.“

Baby’s coming soon. I would be surprised if he or she took more than another day or two!
Darling Uncle - we're having another child. Did you know?
I didn’t know. Congratulations!
How are you and Aunt Mary?
We are doing fine. I was able to spend Christmas with her and the family.
I miss my cousins. How are they?
((I do wonder where the Abe Lincoln blog runner went. He/She was SO GOOD - hate to think the person is gone forever))

Babies are in bed, Edwin is happy. I can sleep happy too.
We’ve had such a lovely Christmas, but tonight I’m very tired. Celebrating has taken it out of me!
Thank you for giving me such a beautiful life, my darling.
No, my darling. Thank you for everything you’ve given me. I love you dearly.
*blushes* I do know it, darling.
Then it’s a very merry Christmas.
*cups his cheek in her hand tenderly* It is, my dearest one. It is. *gives him a slow, soft kiss* I love you so.
I love you too, my darling. And our children. You are my life.
And all of you are mine. It’s a beautiful life, indeed, Edwin. *smiling in great happiness*
