LAST TWO MONTHS

And hopefully, I graduate from the college of architecture. Thesis has been a constant fight between me, myself, and I. It’s not supposed to be this hard but when your only enemy is yourself, it’s so easy to just give up.

BUT I HAVE TO MAKE IT. I need to. I even want to. And so I will!

Hi po! I hope you'll notice this. Gusto kong mag-arki pero hindi talaga ako magaling magdrawing. As in hindi talaga promise. Is it necessary to be good at drawing to be an architect?

IT’S A OKAY! It’s perfectly fine to know absolutely nothing about drawing. I have blockmates that are probably the same with you before but are now more talented and skillful than I am. :) Go for it!

Mahirap po ba thesis? Kinakabahan na po kasi ako eh :-(

Parang ako dapat yung kinakabahan kasi ako yung magththesis year na??? HAHAHAHAHA Unless kabatch kita? HAHAHAHA

Well, definitely mahirap siya. Proposal pa lang, hirap na ako paano pa kaya yung actual thing? HAHA Pero keribells lang!

Ang thesis po ba individual? Hindi po pwede by group? 😢

If there is one professor that you need to meet, it’s Arch. Rizalito Mercado.

Nasa punto na ako na pinagdadasal ko na yung thesis ng iba kong kaibigan. Di ko naman sinusukuan yung akin pero mabuti nang hindi umasa. HAHAHAHA

Hindi po, Mag sschool na po ako ngayon sa mapua this coming july. gusto ko po sana lumipat for 2nd yr pero alam ko po na hindi papayag yung parents ko 😕 Do u think i should risk that just to enter ust? huhu, di po ako nakapasa sa archi pero sa 2nd choice pasado po huhu

Bakit sila hindi papayag? :( You can always try. Actually, ginawa ko yun. I tried filing for transfer without my parents knowing para kapag okay na ang lahat, di na sila makakatanggi. But fate had it and so I stayed in UST HAHAHA Pero siyempre di ko naman sinasabing go behind your parents’ back. Try to make them understand how much you want it and that you’re willing to do everything.

Study well in MAPUA and if my chance ka, try to enter UST kung yun talaga gusto mo. If your feelings about entering UST are strong, I’m pretty sure kakayanin mo. ;)

The Student Organizations Coordinating Council Board of Directors A.Y. 2014-2015!

Having the privilege to represent the College of Architecture as board member in the SOCC is probably the best thing that happened to me this school year. In such a short amount of time, I met amazing people that can always make me smile. We all have our own problems with our own organizations but once we all see each other, it’s always so refreshing and you’ll always feel welcomed and problem free. That’s what I loved about SOCC. Once you enter the office, you’ll automatically feel the love and the joy that all the people in their can give you.

Seeing them kept me sane amidst all the problems I faced this school year and I will forever treasure the bond we all had. It was an amazing experience working and being with all of them. I remember one of the lines that we heard during one of our interviews that I think applied to us: Unity in Diversity.

I will never get tired of screaming with joy whenever I randomly see them in the campus, or anywhere for that matter. These people are the best and I will love them and I plan to keep them in my life hihih cheesy <3

Hello po! :) so hindi po ako nakapasa sa ust and masakit 😢😕 kasi po akala ko dito na ko papasok as an archi student super excited na ko ganyan, tapos nung nalaman ko yung result ayun hindi ako nakapasa. Kaya kailangan ko maghanap ng ibang school kahit na ayoko 😕😕 Do you think i should transfer sa ust? 😕 yung situation ko kasi is ayaw ng parents ko lumipat ako :( kung san daw ako nag start dun na. sa Mapua po ako ngayon mag sschool do you think okay din dun ang archi?

Helloooo! Hindi nakapasa, as in sa cut-off or sa entrance exam? :O And sorry, I don’t get it HAHA Your parents don’t want you to transfer schools meaning, they want you to take another course basta nasa UST? I’m not familiar with how MAPUA is with architecture but I’m pretty sure they’re doing well too! Doesn’t matter where you’re studying anyway. Cliche pero, nasa student talaga ‘yan ;)

Question lang po, why did you choose archi? :-) i heard that profs asks this and i'm not so sure myself why i picked this course.

Honestly, it’s because I thought I was creative enough. Akala ko rin magaling ako magdrawing kasi ‘yun ‘yung pinaniniwalaan ng mga tao nung high school ako HAHAHA But when stepped foot in UST Archi, everyone was waaaaay better!

We all have our reasons! Think hard and be honest. What was your reason? :)

Hi po what markers can u recommend that are as good or near as good as copic? :-)

This is so haaaard D: Honestly, I survived using Kurecolor anyway! Sila na yung pinaka madaling makuha and wide range of colors HAHA You just have to develop the technique to use them.

I also used Sakura Koi Brush Tip markers! Pareho sila ng tip ng Copic pero yung range of colors, sobrang basic lang. No in betweens.

You don’t need the best materials, honestly. Kahit ano pang gamitin mo, it’s in you to make it amazing. ;)

Hi po do i need the laptop already? I haven't bought one yet so i'm still with my old laptop. Incoming arki frosh po :-)

Naaah! Puro manual pa kayo sa simula :D You’ll only need your laptop for papers and stuff like that for your gen ed subjects :D Third year ka pa ata makakapag-digital :D Pero depende pa rin sa prof :D

The UST Architecture Network, this organization taught me several things about myself, other people, and life in general. This is the org that helped mold me and change me into who I am today. I don’t think I have ever showed much affection to anyone else, besides my own family, but to this bunch of amazing people.

I didn’t expect this year to be as great as it was. It definitely was not easy, but I could still say that it was worth it. I’m pretty sure what Archinet did for all of us would differ but in the end, I guess I can say that we were happy with what we’ve done. We tried everything within our power to serve the college well, bridge gaps, and fortify communications with each other and with others.

I don’t think I can ever say good bye to something I have come to love. I am literally in love with each and every person in my executive board and everything we’ve done. This could probably be the best thing that ever happened to me in my whole entire stay in UST and I’m not even done yet.

What happened in my 4th year?

I always start these posts the same: A LOT. (how apt because I’m in architecture hahaha get it?)

Can we also take a short while to laugh at the number of times my picture appears whenever someone googles anything about UST or UST Archi. If you’re here because you got curious as to who the hell that girl is, welcome. This blog was a requirement from the most brilliant professor I’ve had, Arch. Rizalito Mercado. (Although it doesn’t contain my plates anymore, it now contains important parts of my college life. Not bad, right, Sir Mercado? HAHA!)

Academic Year 2014-2015 is the busiest, most life-changing year I’ve had so far. There are so many things that happened and changed. Truly, college life is very interesting. Honestly, I’m still not into Architecture. Well, at least, not for the rest of my life. I still don’t see myself as an architect but I still don’t know what to do. Yes, I’m entering thesis year already and I still don’t know what I want. ‘Wag niyo akong tularan, though. Mahirap eh. HAHA!

I learned several things about the college and the university throughout the year. They may not be the best things to learn about something you’re part of but at least they spark things that can help you try and change them, right? For the better!

I learned so many values this year from different people and events. If I were to give advice to everyone, and I’ve said this before, it’s to reach out. Find a way to meet new people. Do it everyday if you can! Be friends with them and learn from each other, and of course, always do what is right. Always. To value each and everyone person you meet is also important. They can give you the comfort and the love you’d never expect especially when you need it. Even if you stumble on a few people, like professors, breathe in and breathe out. Calm down and believe that no problem is resolved without proper communication.

‘Di ko na alam kung anong sinasabi ko but that’s what’s on top of my head if someone asked me what happened in my 4th year. HAHAHA! Ang labo ko talaga huhu

What are the usual materials for making scale models? Can you list down all drawing materials necessary for Arki Freshmen?

Bristol board and 502 glue (aliping-sagigilid mode) or Mighty Bond (burgis mode)

Pencils, siyempre! 4H, 2H, 2B at 4B. Pero darating ang punto na 2H na lang hawak mo. Just kidding HAHAHA

Do u recommend tria markers? :)

Honestly, I’ve never tried them. HAHA! But I heard they’re good too! If I’m not mistaken, they streak less than Kurecolor :D

Nagbebenta po ba ng set ng copic sa jomar's, joli's, or joyce's?

I don’t think so :( If I’m not mistaken, most ng meron, sa ibang bansa nila binili or pinabili :/
