FINAL WORK 10 IMAGES
The following images are what I consider to be my final work.
"Fragile Layers" Weather Beaten Canvas. Mixed media, emulsion, acrylic, ink and pastel on unstretched canvas. While working on this piece I focused on memory of place rather than naturalistic representation. Building up layers like sedimentary rocks over time then scraping back the paint to reveal the hidden layers we (humans) have. The painting was then left outside and exposed to sun, rain, and wind for 4 allowing nature to make the finishing touches.
"Fragments of Time " Silicone, corn flour and cloth. With these pieces I hope to communcate the fragility of human life. Rock is a symbol of strength and stability, a solid object that depicts stubbornness and inflexible behaviour, slower to change over the ages. In contrast we (humans) are ephemeral beings, with only a temporary place in the world.
