Laila is a 9 year old angel who is fighting for her life. She needs a kidney as soon as possible. She is O+ and can only recieve O+.
Laila comes from the Pine Ridge Reservation. She is suffering from End-Stage Renal Disease. She is fighting for her life!
In 2010, a total of 6,521 patients died while waiting for organ transplants.
On average, 18 people die each day because of the shortage of donated organs.
A new name is added to the national organ transplant waiting list every 10 minutes/
Please Reblog and support! Maybe we can find Laila a kidney!
Please reblog!
Just a reminder that I will no longer be posting on this blog and if you'd like to follow my new tumblr message me here.
Well this will no longer be my main blog anymore... I'm going to keep it active only for my Pine Ridge blog but I will not post anymore... Unfollow me as you wish, and if you'd like to follow my new blog feel free to message me here.
Noooo! I don't think I can deactivate my account without deleting my Pine Ridge blog!
ayiman replied to your post: That's it... I think I'm done with this Tumblr.
aw, really?
I need to start anew.. I'll follow you once I start a new one.
That's it... I think I'm done with this Tumblr.
These are photos of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation: An Oglala Sioux Native American reservation located in the U.S. state of South Dakota.  Here men, women and children are forced to live in appalling poverty stricken conditions because of the neglect and ignorance of the Government whose members live in luxury while these people struggle in cramped conditions with little food and no running water.  Many are unaware of this and others just choose to turn a blind eye but we need to get the truth out there and encourage more and more people worldwide to speak out against this as it’s completely disgusting and unacceptable for the U.S in today’s modern society.  Reblog and help increase awareness and if you would like to help further you can find out more or make a donation here, every little bit counts.  http://friendsofpineridgereservation.org/
INTERESTING, 15 NOTES.
AND YET, A PHOTO THAT I POSTED YESTERDAY OF A TACKY/RACIST BELLY RING HAS 3000.
Oh weetz, darling. Don’t you know that no one cares what out life is actually like? They just want to play pretend Indian.
Technically I’m considered homeless.. My fiance and I are looking into getting a Governors house. We’d need a $30,000+ loan and also the land set up to put it on.Â
Angel, I don’t think you’re homeless…that’s kind of a far stretch don’t you think? Yeah, you don’t have a place of your own but I think it’s kind of demeaning to people who REALLY don’t have a place to sleep or food to eat to cry around about being homeless. Especially when you have so much going for you. LOLÂ
HUD defined homeless as pertinent to an individual who:
lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate night-time residence; and
has a primary night-time residence that is -
a supervised publicly or privately operated shelter designed to provide temporary living accommodations (including welfare hotels, congregate shelters, and transitional housing for the mentally ill);
an institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized; or
a public or private place not designed for, or ordinarily used as, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings
You're right I do have things going for me.... except my own home. Right now my parents house is a temporary residence. I know I'm not living on the streets and I appreciate what I do have. I'd take any of these houses in the picture.. Â When was I "crying" around? I only mentioned that I was "technically homeless" because I wanted to share how I'm working towards getting my own home.Â
He always gives me that smile after being a rascal. Not fair.Â
My mom told me today that when Luna has puppies she wants to keep one. I knew she secretly loved my dog.Â
My mom bought Otis a very soft comfy bed. She expected him to bask in its comfort and snooze his days away. Otis had other plans.
Luna in her $15 bed.
Ugh today just keeps getting worse!
My dad has just informed me that one of the "white saviors" applied for the job I'm hoping for. I'm going to be so angry if he gets it! I seriously need this job in order to get shit going for me. Getting a house depends on it.... Argh! plus it's one of my dream jobs.. I think it would be perfect for me and I'll actually enjoy doing it... *sigh*Â
I don't know if I should feel worried or not... The only thing he has on me is having a teaching degree and he's fluent in Lakota... The job doesn't even require a degree, or deal with teaching.. I mean it's at the school, but it's more of communications... ARGH! But my former teacher/boss was the one who told me about it and I think she's part of the hiring... Please Tunkash! Help me out! For once don't let the white guy win!Â

talkingmotorcycleblues replied to your post: I quit life.
Life can wait until tomorrow. Today, there’s Tumblr!
I can't even stand tumblr right now. I really just want to delete this one and start a new one. My dash is too cluttered and I can't see posts from people I actually want to hear from. For now I'll keep just for the post for Laila.
I quit life.
but just for today.
According to my professor, in order to succeed in the Native American art market, you have to confine yourself to portrayals of “the lone, savage warrior riding a horse on the plains.”
As some of you may know, I’ve been ranting about this issue for a while. I hate the fact that “Native American art” is a genre narrowly defined by the depiction of a 19th century lifestyle, because, quite simply, that is what sells. Shouldn’t the very fact of my ethnicity qualify all my art as “Native American”? Furthermore, most Natives in the art industry can’t even relate personally to this image, because they are not members of the nomadic plains tribes.
Our past is a part of us, an important one, but it does not define us entirely. I’ve spent more time in my life on the computer than I ever have a horse. I am Native and this is my experience, and I refuse to live up to the mainstream stereotype of what a Native should be simply because I want to sell a painting. If I choose to paint a medicine man watching the Broncos game, something I have seen every week of football season for as long as I can remember, how is that any less valid than painting a medicine man in a Ghost Dance shirt? It may lack the significance of the latter, but it’s certainly just as relevant, if not more, to my experience as a contemporary Native person.
I spent the hour after class absolutely livid as I thought about my non-future in the Native art world. As long as I can’t sell shit anyway, I’m going to paint a Native guy in an Air Force unit bombing the fuck out of some poor, dark-skinned civilians in the Middle East. Show them exactly what our “lone, savage warriors” do in this day and age.
Laila's Fight; Thru the eyes of a zombie baby
Laila is a 9 year old angel who is fighting for her life. She needs a kidney as soon as possible. She is O+ and can only recieve O+.
Laila is from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She is suffering from End-Stage Renel Disease. Her mother set up a Facebook page to raise awareness for her daughter, and other children who are in need of a kidney. Please Support Laila and help spread the word! Maybe we can find her a kidney!
Like her facebook page! Laila’s Fight; Thru the eyes of a zombie baby
I’m disappointed on how many reblogs this has. We can rant about cultural appropriation but when a Native person actually needs our help we fail to take action. Her life may depend on it, she is seriously ill. I’m hoping we can spread the word where she might actually get a kidney. Please Reblog!
Always.
I wish I could do more. Stuff like this will always be more important. Thoughts and prayers to Laila and her family.
Please get the word out.
Laila's Fight; Thru the eyes of a zombie baby
You don't need to reblog this anymore. I went to the page and it says the fight's over- in the good way. :3
I mean, it'd be nice if this'd still get notes, because it's a good thing, but- she survived, and she's going home very soon.
She still needs a kidney! She's able to go home because before her catheter was infected, which could have been deadly.. So she's only recovering from that! She still very much needs a kidney! Thanks to everyones reblogs there are potential donors asking to help! But that doesn't mean all of them are a match! Please keep spreading the word! I'm amazed of how many notes this post got in a matter of a couple days! Laila's mother is extremely happy!Â
