Can never go wrong with Deaner and Gener.
As Henry Rollins has said of Ween: “…you will get down on your filthy knees and crawl to the altar that is Ween.”
First saw this band while sippin coffee on a Sunday morning watching CBS Sunday Morning (or whatever the show is called...the one with the lil sunshine🌞?) anyway, I'm always intrigued when the lead singer is the drummer! Good, mellow band...
*Listen to this on a good sound system or headphones* I think it's a mildly underrated track from the King of Pop (is it tho? I dunno?). Just listen to what is going on in the background with that groovy baseline and all the other shit going on (gotta think that's a Quincy Jones thing?)
[...she's not necessarily 'young' but she's younger than I am...♾️😉]
I remember when I was in, like, 3rd grade and it was MJ fever and this white boy traded a week of doing my sisters chores for being able to wear her MJ buttons(!) for a week. I was the MAN that week, lemme tell ya!
bonus: Kanye digs this track too, eh? ("Good Life")
...speakin' of Ozzy...
and another Post Malone cut that I dig:
"Versace boxers on my dick" "Bud Light runnin' thru my piss"
such deep, thoughtful lyrics (but I somehow love em!)
Such a great cut by the bearded boyz. Nothing else to say, just lean back, relax and enjoy (well, enjoy from the beginning because that is where the magic starts....the Spotify cuts ruin the mood sometimes!)
I could fill this blog up with Black Sabbath tracks but everybody knows War Pigs and Iron Man and Paranoid. This album gets a lot of hate (even from the band itself) but I have always loved it. One of my prized possessions is my Sabbath Box Set! Long Live Ozzy!
My collection: 25,951 tracks on 2353 albums?! 😋
"I play them and I cherish them"
its all gotta be listened to, right? Lets keep it going then…
Prob my fav Death Cab cut.
This song is so great...how it builds in the beginning just like how the narrators' desperation grows.
chilling. excellent. ever had a crush? can relate (well, sorta...maybe not stalking-level but a crush ♾️ 🫨)
(bonus take...I can remember first hearing about Death Cab from my buddy and he says "oh you probably wouldn't be into them" and I'm still like fuck you dude, fkin music snob. hate that.)
(...I'm diggin' the new Death Cab release pretty well too, eh?)
member this one back in the day? oh man!
I was watching an Adam Sandler movie (Mr Deeds, maybe?) and this was on in the background and I had to find it immediately (his movies are usually pretty good for some deep cuts that everybody has forgotten about)
Oh Alexis...oh my...(I wanted to put Rill Rill here since I think its a great video but that seemed too obvious).
This track/album reminds me of the pandemic, unfortunately (not sure why since it was released in 2021? seems late for the pandemic?). Anyway, our favorite school teacher turned rock singer + guitar + bombastic drum machines = ❤️ (don't understand the band name though. I've never been able to find an explanation...if somebody knows the story let me know).
this song? just. yeah. Nick Drake, man. Its between this track and "Pink Moon".
Have you ever seen "Serendipity" with John Cusack? Make you believe in romance again, right? (probably not my last Cusack reference because "High Fidelity" is also a movie that hits home with me!)
Double post! I stumbled on both of these on the same night and instantly fell in love so I'll post them together! Is that allowed?!
Gobbled up everything I could find on Wet Leg and was not disappointed. Such a throwback, unique band. I listened to them for like 2 weeks straight then not again for months. Not sure why? 🤪
...and Ms. Fish: she strikes me as such a powerful, sexy, talented blues bitch! These Spotify cuts don't do her justice!
its all about the drums for me on this one.
I'm usually a one-same-lead-singer-per-band guy and I always thought I was Camp Ric Ocasek until I got into this track. Benjamin Orr gone too soon. He was 53? oh shit! what?
[lotta dead guys appearing on this blog so far...this is purely coincidental!! 😂😞 just goes to show we've lost some very creative people, eh?]
Sir Pete Townshend! Is he a "Sir", not sure but he should be.
A lot of people think Roger Daltrey wrote the Who lyrics but it was mostly Pete: both music and lyrics. amazing talent. Also an early master of the electronic "Moog" sounds and loops (and just a master all around). smash all your furniture in tribute (don't worry we'll get harder/louder/heavier as we go along...)
Underrated? maybe not so much but sorta feels like it since there was only 1 album by this 'super group' (were they called super groups back then?!). You've probably heard "River of Deceit" but it was one of those albums with NO bad tracks so why not just start with the 1st track.
I can remember commandeering this CD from my college roommate and listening to that sucker over and over! There is concert footage floating around on the free streaming services (Roku, Pluto) and it is excellent!
Ah! found it on YouTube "Mad Season: Live at the Moore"!
maybe my favorite acoustic-only track ever.
also the first ever song that I burned to a CD back in the day...lol
