I’m amazed I drew anything at all this year as it's been a Dark Night of the Soul with medical challenges, alley/portfolio rejections, etc. but I drew at least ONE thing per month. GO ME!🥲🎉

Next year, I want to keep pushing in the Dark Fantasy/TTRPG direction with my personal projects!

My Fave of the Year: "The Lingering Smile" sword concepts. I consider equipment, weapons, & FX a huge weakness for me, but this image pushed me in untested ways. I'm pleased with the results & how much fun I had along the way!

So far, very impressed with the Gold and Silver paint pens from the ARTISTRO brand! I usually run out of my paint pens while signing prints, esp because the pens tend to dry out almost immediately after opening and are usually goopy and unable to keep a consistent fine line. PROS

Crisp fine lines that don't goop up

Quick drying

Sticks to coated photographic print paper

Very opaque on black and white paper

CONS

Not very shiny, but a decent semi-metallic

The true test will be if I try to use the open pens in a week and they're already dried out. I'll check back in!

So I finally started playing Breath of the Wild (yes, yes I know I’m years late to the party.) Worth it to make my husband cry-laugh at my deaths since I’m Zelda-ignorant & bad at this game.

I'm so excited to share that my Temperance painting from the Woven Path Tarot deck will be making an appearance at the Art of Tarot exhibit opening today, from May 8th to June 7th. If you're in the neighborhood, drop in and take a look at this piece in-person, alongside so many other lovely and inspired tarot-themed paintings and card decks!

My original painting includes shining details in gold mica paint that stand out so much better in-person! I hope some of you will be able to make it to experience the effect. Ildarataan Ganjo for Malus the 16th Painted in Procreate & CSP

What a journey this painting has been over the past month or so! This art represents the first step on my art path to draw more TTRPG and Fantasy Art starting with this private commission for Malusthe16th of a beloved NPC from their Exalted TTRPG campaign, a setting near and dear to my heart.

While I've done Fantasy Art before mainly for myself, my focus for the past few years has been on my more Fine Art based passions. Now with most of that project wrapped up, I feel I can FINALLY unleash my inner geek!

With this project, I got to design Ildarataan Ganjo, Blade Beast of the Steel Forest, from the ground up which meant diving into the tasty dense lore and mythic imagery of Exalted I enjoy.

Ganjo is a chosen of the moon goddess, Luna, and sword master from ancient times. Each hand wields a different type of sword, representing his mastery over many forms, being the founder of several sword-based martial arts in his campaign. His visual motifs channel the forms of a damselfly, tiger beetle, and Mongol armor.

I hope to do a deep dive for my Patrons-only Secret Sketchbook over on my Patreon for those who might be curious about the research that went into this. Keep an eye out there for my documentation of the full art journey and what I learned along the way, as this was also a CSP experiment for me that taught me a lot.

Here's to getting to draw more cool concepts like this one and continuing to let the geek art flag fly!

Ganjo, the Blade Beast of Steel Forest

A peek at my current commission project for client, Malus the 16th. I'm enjoying switching gears from my previous Art Nouveau mode to an Epic Fantasy topic!

An ancient warrior dances, finding enlightment amongst the lotuses. I got to design Malus' Ganjo from the ground up and had such fun with his humanoid and insectoid hybrid elements.

Next up, refining the chosen thumbnail! Now my favorite art game! Which one would you choose?
