HAPPIEST of birthdays to my Rock Nโ Roll partner in crime @rachelelena! As fate would have it we met at a record store in Hollywood back in 2016 where we discovered a parallel love for artist discovery and curating unique experiences in which to pair them. It was at that very record store that @rocknightout was conceived and a true friendship solidified. Since then sheโs not only become my partner in business but also a best friend who has seen me through the deepest valleys and most rewarding peaks of my life in this city. 24hrs after my previous post, Roxyโs health took a sudden turn for the worse and I lost her. Itโs taken me a while to process and formulating the words still seems impossible. ๐ After months of getting her back to health and feeling comfortable talking about her recovery โ the cancer had silently returned and worked its way into her bloodstream. What I thought to be a routine trip to the vet turned into our final moments together. She brought a familiar and comforting rhythm during my darkest days that I couldnโt have made it through without her. She was my co-pilot, my partner and the centerpiece of my life. We only had 3 additional months post surgery together but I would do it all over again if I had to. 5 years is too young and Iโll always wonder why โ we were just getting started. In an effort to make the best of an unfortunate situation I decided to channel my energy into something creative... Over the course of the next 6 months I started to hand source vintage blanks from the 80โs - all well worn, unique and super soft - with the intention of printing a limited run of โone of a kindโ garments that I felt truly embodied her spirit. With the help of my good friend @kincaidseviltwin, whom I am extremely grateful, the @roxyhollywood collection was brought into existence. Thereโs a variety of colors in all different sizes. Itโs been a minute... For most of us 2020 was a year weโd ALL like to forget and while it was not completely void of itโs moments it left with an exclamation point [!] 6 months ago, shortly after her 5th birthday, Rox was diagnosed with cancer and itโs taken me just as long to formulate the words to create this post. In January she went in for surgery to remove her leg to alleviate the pain and extract the cancer. After a few extra days added to her staycation I was finally able to bring her home. It was a tough go for a bit but we worked hard and she acclimated quickly - I think I had a more difficult time with it than she did - but sheโs doing INCREDIBLE and weโve been slowly getting back at it. To honor my main girl, I hand sourced a limited number of vintage blank crew necks from the 80โs (buttery and soft) I found weekly at flea markets over the past 6 mos and with the help of my boy @kincaidseviltwin created the @roxyhollywood collection...
