A Bird Struggling to Get Loose

Your heart can never hold still. It pounds against your chest frantically, always turning your sights to one thing after the next. When was the last time you were certain? The last time your life was stable? Maybe this is how you prefer things. On the move constantly, not tied down to one person or place. You chase one goal after the next. Can you ever really feel complete without a place to land? Shouldn’t you build yourself a nest?

The Ghost of Devotion

He wasn't always so over the top with holidays, but a part of him loves putting the effort for those he adores. So here they stand, in New York City, not exactly in Times Square but close enough that the scene around them - or below them actually, as they opted to stand on the rooftops - is still celebratory of the coming year. Just the two of them and the wintery air, plus the sounds of the people below and the fireworks in the sky made it all the better.

... Yeah, he's grateful to not be down in the crowds with everyone else this time. With a gloved hand he brushes some confetti that somehow manifested in his lover's hair careful not to displace the neat way it was styled. When that glowing ball drops and the bold new year lights up on the screen, that's when Nero chooses to pull Lestat closer and give him a kiss.

"Happy New Year." He whispers, almost not breaking that kiss nor letting go. Though the ups and downs of their relationship, at least moments like this are plenty enough for him.

So it finally happened. He net himself a pretty, mysterious and amazing woman who matched his energy. At least as far as he could tell, considering that she's able to keep up with the chaos that is his job. Maybe it doesn't matter how it happened, just that the sparks are gonna keep flying like the fireworks above them and it better not end.

Nero pulls Paloma closer after the screens lit up and in bold font shouted Happy New Year! with everyone in the crowd cheering, plenty of confetti floats around and gets stuck to their clothes and hair. But that doesn't ruin the mood for him, not when he presses his lips to hers and pretends the noise disappears.

"Happy New Year, babe." He whispers, lingering with her a while longer before the sounds of Frank Sinatra began to play in the speakers.
