Late at night if I couldnāt sleep she would talk to me about all of these wonderful sparkly things in her head, all the blue ribbons and neon lights, diamond rings and the glint of sunlight off of a swimming pool as the sun began to rise over the treetops - she painted images of kids riding on skateboards in the dead heat of the summer, with girls lying on their stomachs, lounging on the grass reading magazines, their socked feet filthy with green grass stains and their mouths sticky from lollipops they would suck, hair flowing down their shouldersĀ
