Katerina was currently following a very important lead, there was someone who she was meeting with that might have the information she desperately needed. They both sat at a random bar, having a drink as they talked. After all it was much harder to ease drop on conversations especially with the bar being as packed as it was. Apparently there was some random football game on that helped their conversation not be heard unless one was actively listening in, which she doubted would happen. Since normal humans typically didnât believe that demons or monsters walked the earth, content with their ignorance that they donât go looking further for it. Unless one made itself known to that human shattering their belief that they were safe and had nothing to fear.
Unfortunately for her that person, whom she was in a current conversation with did not seem to want to help her. They insisted that this particular demon was dangerous and that they werenât going to risk their life by helping Katerina. A fact that created a feeling of frustration. It hadnât been easy finding this lead, it was almost as if there was very little known about this demon that hunted her wanting her back. Not knowing the real reason this demon wanted her, only that it seemed to know something about her that only Katerina herself knew. The thought of her being at his mercy again sent chills down her spine, making her body feel cold all over. The very thought terrified her but she wasnât the type to go down without a fight.
They quickly paid for their drink leaving a tip for the bartender, before leaving the bar. Not having given any useful information to Katerina in fear of their own safety. Something that Kat couldnât even fault them for, to them she was a complete stranger who had the unfortunate luck of running into this demon. Taking a sip of her drink to attempt to calm her nerves, she was on edge and at her limit. She had no one else to rely on but herself. Spending all her time looking over her shoulder terrified that the demon would find her. Knowing it was only a matter of time before that happened. It not helping that she was absolutely exhausted from having consistent nightmares, that were painful memories of what she endured at the hands of the demon.
It had been a long day to say the least. He had been hunting on his own for a few months now and this had been his roughest hunt so far. The fact that his dad trusted him though was something that kept him going even though a small part of him had wanted to call in for some backup but this was the time to prove to his father that he had trained his son well enough to get the fucking job done.
He had managed to get a room in a decent enough motel and had come to the bar down the road to come unwind. A few drinks, a little flirting never did anyone any bad but what he had not expected was to overhear a conversation that would lead to him waiting for a girl in the parking lot and not be about to laid.
"Keep your ears open my ass."he muttered to himself as he had downed the drink and stepped outside in the cold winter air. He hadnt even had a few hours of rest. Guess he was spending his birthday hunting. He could have been getting laid but, oh well.
"You really need to research your contacts before asking for help on a hunt, sweetheart," he said as he stood next to the dark haired girl. "Couldn't help overhearing someone turned down hunting a goddamn demon? I could help?" he offered knowing not a lot of hunters took kindly to the suggestion they might need help on a hunt but she had been asking around. Sounded like a case that could use as many hands as available and right now he only had his to offer.
Breathing in the cold air she tried her best to calm her nerves, something the drink she had only succeeded taking a small part of it away. Hearing a voice next her to clearly speaking to her, she turned towards the person that stood there. Finding what she considered to be a very attractive man standing there from what she could see even with the area being poorly lit. Even as she took in his appearance and listened to what he was telling her, she kept an eye on her surroundings. Scanning the dark for any sign of monsters or demons that would typically go bump in the night. Knowing that most of them preferred to hunt during the night, making it easier for them to disorient their victims.
âYour saying that as if I have any means of doing any research in the matter or any contacts that I would have been able to rely onâ she said just saying what honestly came to her mind. Perhaps it was the exhaustion getting to her, to say what she did so bluntly and without thought. She didnât have anyone she could rely on that knew about anything about what she was dealing with. Anything she knew came from what her father had pieced together in his youth before he met her mother. Which was not much Katerina could admit, it took a lot for her to figure out things this far by herself.
She bit her lip as she thought his offer through. She knew it probably wasnât safe to involve another person in her affairs, but she needed help. She was running on little to no information, not very familiar with the things that he would most likely know. He also seemed as if he might have contacts or know how to do proper research into the subject, both things that Katerina was solely lacking in. âIf you think you would be able to help I would greatly appreciate itâ she told him before she could overthink on the matter.
Dean couldn't help but snort. "I know i look like a sexy motherfucker but it's not like i have resources. You just gotta be smart about it."he said taking another swig from his drink.
"How long have you been hunting this thing? Anything you observed that would help up trapping this son of a bitch?" he asked before smiling, "I wouldn't have offered if i couldnt. How about we start with refreshing your drink and you can tell me what you know about it and then we can plan what to do next. We would need to hit the books."he added the last bit as he waved over a bartender just as he finished his drink. " Large whiskey and whatever she is having."
She finished the last of her drink as she listened to him. Unfortunately she knew nothing about what would trap it, the only reason she got away from it was pure luck. Something that Katerina didnât think she could pull off again if it got his hands on her again.
Katerina told him what she knew of the demon that was hunting her. Describing what his real form looked like when he tried to use fear at first to get her to do what he wanted. After all most would likely have succumbed to doing whatever he wanted out of fear after witnessing something they only saw in their nightmares become reality right in front of their eyes. Even going as far to describe how he looked afterwards when he realized that fear tactic would not work on her. By the time she had finished telling him most of what she knew, their new drinks had arrived.
She left out the parts that still kept her up and awake at night from the nightmares that plagued her. She appreciated any help he was willing to give her, however she wasnât going to blindly trust in him. To tell him everything that she knew, how he tortured her in many different ways to get her to do as he wanted. To test how her ability affected not only her but others as well. Knowing now how strong the effects of her ability could be based on how she used it. How many would do anything to make what they were seeing stop, even if it was something that might go against their moral code. After all everyone had a breaking point and for most it didnât take long for them to hit that point. There was also the possibility that he could be one of the demons minions who possessed a human, nothing was off the table as a possibility. Not until she learned more about him and he earned her trust completely. Maybe then she would tell him the parts that she was holding back. For now she just hoped what she shared with him was enough to at least point them in a direction to start with.
