Angelo’s smile spread further into a grin at the greeting, finding the enthusiasm infectious. It was a shame he had never spoken to the man: he got the feeling they would have gotten along well. Maybe it would teach him to put a little more effort into getting to know his neighbours now.
“That’s really kind, thank you. It’ll be sad to see you gone, but I won’t argue with an excuse for cupcakes,” he laughed. He carefully selected one of the little cakes offered to him, though really they were all practically identical, then bent to scoop Icarus up in his free hand. It was getting distracting trying to keep him inside.
“I’m Angelo. Angelo Michaels. Did you want to come in for a cup of tea or something, or did you want to keep going with your deliveries?”
Once the cupcake left the box, Porcoline slid the lid closed. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Angelo! I’d be delighted to join you for a cup. I have plenty of time.“ He might as well stop in for a chat and take the opportunity to learn a little something about one another. It was always nice to get the chance to make a new friend.
Without thinking about it, he reached out his free hand to shake. Oops, right, Angelo’s hands were full. Instead, Porcoline’s fingers hovered tentatively over the kitten the young man was carrying. “Does this fluffy little darling take kindly to pettings from cupcake-bearing strangers?”
The kitten in question seemed more than accepting of the hand hovering over his head, stretching up to sniff curiously at it before licking Porcoline's fingertips. Icarus certainly didn't shy away from anything he wanted to know about.
"His name is Icarus. I only just got him, so he's still learning not to scratch and bite when he plays, but he loves people. And food. Pets and their owners I guess," Angelo laughed. Once he thought Icarus had spent long enough licking their new friend, he stepped aside so that he wasn't blocking the door.
"Sorry about the mess. I try to keep it confined, but I still end up with canvases and stuff everywhere."
