My homeschooler who's in highschool asked me, "whatever happened to home economics and do they still have it as a high school course?" I told her yes, but for homeschoolers it is called life skills. She inquired about it and I listened. I am taking action and giving all my homeschoolers a economics course. I decided to turn my kitchen over to my homeschoolers 2 nights a week and allow them to cook a whole meal for our family, dessert included. This will relieve me of cooking and it will be so much fun for them. I will facilitate of course. My homeschoolers are ages 7, 9, 10 and 15 soon to be 16. All of them will take part in preparing the meals. Since everyone is reading so well now, this will be good. For reading directions, reading recipes, following directions, comprehension skills, listening skills, fractions, measurements, baking, cooking, meal planning, list writing, note-taking, grocery, etiquette, table setting, shopping, budgeting, math, and working together as a team. We are preparing them to live in the real world one day and life skills is very important in preparing them for that. I am excited to see what they will prepare for us. https://www.instagram.com/p/CSRbXnOL6Jf/?utm_medium=tumblr
