if you go looking for doom and gloom all you will see is doom and gloom. if you go looking for reduced items at the grocery store you may find a littol treat
I hate how accurately the movie depicts society's view of people not in romantic relationships is.
Ryland Grace was not a sad man waiting for his demise. He was happy. He loved teaching, his students were SO important to him. He had a good life.
But he didn't fit societal norms and that somehow made his life less valuable? The way Stratt saying "oh you're not married, you don't have any immediate family or even a dog" was treated as part of an explanation as to why he should be more willing to go on a SUICIDE MISSION?! As if that somehow made his life less important? As if it made him some sort of expandable material?
It's genuinely so sad how realistic it is. It's also part of the reason why I wholeheartedly believe in aroace Grace. It's just such a common experience within the community that even if it's unintentional it feels like finally getting some sort of representation.
(I genuinely hope this post is at least somewhat coherent it's basically just a rant written at two am that I'm too tired to look through <33)
i get rly emotional abt onimais existence whenever i start thinking abt it too hard because like. its just so kind. its one of the kindest things ive ever seen put to print and screen, and the fact that it exists is just so... imagine being an egg out there yknow? imagine being in mahiros shoes and finding onimai. imagine learning, through something as tender and beautiful as onimai, that there exists not just girls like you, but other girls who are more than willing to help you grow into your new identity and love yourself for the first time.
imagine seeing yourself for the first time through mahiro, one of the cutest, most lovable girls ever made. she too had to struggle to feel out her girlhood - its scary, yknow? changes that big, even when you want it - and while this lead to situations that were embarrassing or scary, shes never someone to ridicule. shes learning, yknow? we all make mistakes. when she accidentally stumbles into old habits, or shyly tries out new ones, she's never reprimanded or laughed at. and on top of that, it provides that gentle wish fulfillment of a sister who's always loved you walking you through your transition and loving you still throughout. it provides that gentle reassurance that youre always allowed to be an adorable little girl, even if youve supposedly chronologically passed your childhood already. that one didnt count, you know? it wasnt fully yours. you get to be a little girl now. its so kind. its just so kind...
im going to cry someone put it into words and oh my god justjirsdfjgknlñs i love onimai... just... bwehhh i love it so baddddd
noticed by goose again...but at what cost
its really a firm reminder that creators are also people with lives. they jerk off just like us
(getting a taste of my own medicine) actually this is okay. Is this what you guys have bene whining about? Jesus christ

that transfem mad scientist roommate is so so cutes. you’re literally being mean if you don’t drink the chemical concoctions she gives you.
Its insane to me how many concepts in our universe are so fundamentally interconnected, but seem separate on a human level
See radiation? Particles that zoom really fast and can maybe damage your dna? Yea, I see that I can grasp it
Electricity? Awesome, go power that lightbulb girl! Wahoo!
Magnetism? I have no idea how that could work but opposites attract i guess yay ❤️
Wait, electromagnets? I guess thats how magnets work but I didnt expect those two things to be related
Electromagnetic radiation ??? What are you even on about what could that possibly be, thats like three different things you put together like a big science sandwich how could these things ever be related
Ans heres another, even more crazy, example
Time, oh yeah existence just kind of increments forward I can intuitively understand that
Space? Things can be big or small and it takes time to travel distances, it can also be empty or filled, yea that is also another concept I can get instinctually
Spacetime? Huh?? Wth?? How could those two things possibly be related? Like i can get how anyone could go like "hmmm maybe space and time are reliant on eachother," but the fact that they made whole in depth fully thought out mathematical models of exactly how time and space are related is crazy. It is genuinely absurd that humans figured that out. And its all like true for the most part its amazing
you didn't say the best part about the electromagnetic radiation example.
That's just light.
