one thing that appears to never have changed about the discourse landscape is the way someone will get called out for something with some serious weight but whoever is writing the call out post clearly already had an axe to grind about some other petty interaction they'd had with the accused that is far from the same calibre as the accusations so youll get a call out post being like

2. being a liar

originally i wanted to use the transparency bc the teeth look cool 'chomping' like that but i couldn't get them to look long and accurate, and when they were short and accurate they were too stubby. overall i think it looks better filled in.

here's a comparison with my earlier pics on the left, it looks way more chompy now. its a small change but the circle object editor didn't make it easy lmao

i think avoidance is such a little-recognized ocd compulsion. all the time i talk to people with ocd who are like "i was always having intrusive thoughts about using kitchen knives and harming myself or others but i'm okay now because i just stopped using knives ever 👍 so i'm good now"

and i'm like unfortunately i have bad news.

if you don't know why this doesn't work, the issue is that ocd never stops when you implement a compulsion. it evolves. today you've "solved" it by never using a knife again (and losing access to an important cooking tool, thus limiting an aspect of your life) but in a few months or a year it'll be that forks are dangerous too. and hey, isn't it risky to use the stove? avoidance will even begin to manifest in places you might not recognize.

the point is that OCD compulsions are never solutions, they're actually the problems. the intrusive thoughts SEEM like the problem and the compulsions FEEL like the solution. and that's how it getsya.

its interesting to me how if you look at posts from like 2018 itll have like a thousand reblogs but only like 4 of them are viewable, go any further back than that and a post will have notes in the tens of thousands that are completely empty.

i find it hard to believe that everyone who engaged with the post deleted their blogs, bc while ppl leave tumblr all the time i think they generally just stop logging on. if you dont log on for long enough (several years) tumblr will release your URL (or they used to) but they don't delete the blog, just tack a -blog on to the end of it, so its not like tumblr is manually deleting any left over blogs. so it makes me wonder what happens to all the notes, cus the site remembers how many notes the post should have. i just find it interesting

i want to do a painting of a tiger taking a bath to put in a bathroom (bathroom-themed bathroom) and to this end i made a little maquette out of clay and i suspect this will scope creep into having both a painting and sculpture of a tiger or perhaps only a sculpture of a tiger. if i do both should they be displayed together or separately

Working on cutting out a large piece of wood to do the painting on, which is a constraint that will either be really fun or really annoying. Maybe both

Wood primed and underpainted and sketch transferred mostly by cutting it out in different chunks and tracing around them. Stripes to be determined. Nobody let me work on this again for at least two weeks
