Medical Woes And Why Bother?
I mentioned it last year, some medical issues I was having. And today I am just beyond frustrated.
Last year I was overwhelmed with a bunch of GI issues. Ended up in the ER at one point because the pain was so bad and in the side where the appendix is, but I wasn't taken seriously and so I left. Learned not to go the ER unless I'm bleeding out I guess.
MANY doctor appointments and referrals, many tests later including both a coloscopy and an endoscopy only to be told: We don't know what is wrong with you. If it gets worse, call us.
They quietly wrote "Irritable Bowel Syndrome" in my chart while never telling me directly.
Because IBS is often handed out when they don't know what is wrong with you. And while I don't doubt that what most people with IBS experience is real and the treatments/suggestions for IBS actually DO help them. . .not the case for me.
My issues: 100% not affected by food. It doesn't matter what I eat. It doesn't matter if I don't eat.
It eventually went away after SEVERAL months of feeling awful all the time.
Almost five months later and I had a routine biopsy for completely unrelated reasons. A week later. . .my stomach issues return. At the same time the results of the biopsy return. They see evidence of a very mild infection. They say it seems so mild they don't think it is chronic and tell me to start antibiotics when they tell me to.
I look up what an infection of that part of the body does. Wouldn't you know it: it lists the symptoms I have. The symptoms I had last year. Feels GI related, but here it is. . .listing the same shit. Would make sense that all my GI testing came back negative.
I bring this up to the doctor. His RN replies instead telling me it sounds more GI related and to go to my GI doctor.
Pelvic pain. Check.
Constipation. Check.
Swelling. Check.
General discomfort. Check.
Malaise. Check.
I have other symptoms like nausea, but my god.
It was like she didn't even read my message.
