          words to slide from his lips seemed a lot easier than he had first thought &. yet, he still felt the unease BUBBLING from the deepest pits of his stomach.     ( to think that he could easily charm any woman he wanted &. YET, he couldn’t talk about his girlfriend without fluster painting his expression. how embarrassing was THAT? )    however, the look on her face seemed to snap him back when youth leaned closer &. closer, staring him RIGHT in the eyes as he contemplated his next move. it was a steady game of CHESS where each move had to be thought out with care &. precision or soon his king would fall to the might of a queen     –     or a princess.                  with the BOMBARDMENT of questions, did he try to keep a look of stoic amusing. nonetheless, not even mesprit could help him when his ears should redden under the weight of some of her questions     –     now came the difficult part. 

                    ❛ yes     –     KAREN. for a few months now, too      …     but no, we’re not having a baby      ( i have TOO MANY KIDS on my plate now as it is, i don’t really need to add more to that at the moment. )      but about the     ‘ marrying ‘     part, that’s a different story. &. ANOTHER REASON as to why i’m telling you this now.  ❜

          “Whhaaaaat?!” Kotone hadn’t expected to actually say yes, that the two were in fact getting married. She had just been spouting out the the first things that had popped into her head without really thinking about what she had been saying. There was now an undeniable sparkle in her eye and she bounced up and down on the couch, no words yet to come from her. Her excitement through her actions alone were enough to show how she felt about the subject. If it had been some woman she didn’t know, she probably would be acting a little differently, but Kotone liked Karen. And then all at once she narrowed her eyes at Lance. Uh-oh. She was not upset that Lance was getting married, more than this was the first time she was finding out, despite her absence from the region.

           “Why didn’t you tell me before now? You could have called me! Or you know... something! A letter! How did this happen? When did you even start dating her? When did you decide you were in love? How did you ask her to marry you? Where are you both going to live?” The little champion was spouting out questions so quickly, she was barely able to keep up with them herself.

I think this is quite a rare event. In HGSS Steven offers to trade you a Beldum for Forretress and…most people would just give him a random Forretress but if you give him one with maxed out friendship, you get to see Steven fanboy about Steel type pokemon and IT IS HILARIOUS.

          maybe this wasn’t the easiest way to turn things, but he would owe it all to her to at LEAST have told little champions the truth     –     especially since she had her own role in his personal life as well as his professional one. sweat seemed to bullet right down passed his temple     ( according to his OWN imagination, that is     –     he was barely sweating a drop. )     sheepish grins took place against the curves that was a smile. a hand found its way to the back at his neck as he tried to find ways to somehow EXPLAIN overdue situations to her without sounding too much like a teenaged girl. at least he was doing this now, rather than wait a few months &. have an ANGRY sixteen year old pounding down his door asking why he hadn’t told her sooner. but the way he could have said it      –     now THAT was a challenge rather than the battles that raged in his line of work. while she sat so comfortably in seat, he couldn’t help but hesitate for a split second     ( SHOULD HE? )

                     ❛ well      …     YES, actually      –     with, uh      –     ❜ A CLEAR COUGH. ❛ karen. from the elite four      –     &. ACTUALLY, i came here to tell you something about that in particular. ❜

         “Eehhh....?” That wasn’t the name she had been expecting him to say, but honestly she wasn’t too surprised. The two did work together and Kotone was familiar with the woman that Lance spoke of. ( Karen ). She was familiar with all league elites and leaders in the two regions. She still had a smirk on her face though, especially since Lance was obviously still embarrassed by what he was trying to tell her. Kotone leaned a little closer towards him.

         “So Karen, huh?” All kinds of thoughts crossed her mind that point. Something else about that? Her mind was racing, trying to logically figure out what he possibly was going to tell her. Now she seemed a little nervous. “Are you getting married? Are you having a baby!?”

          there was absolutely no way in hell she would have told him, &. he wouldn’t have expected LESS from sweet hearts he held so close to his own. though, it did soothe his mind just a bit, knowing that she wasn’t messing around with some BOY he had yet to meet     ( what would have made it worse is if it was someone he had known     …     )     the moment she found peace on the seat right next to him, soft chuckles pushed from his lips as body turned to face her.  after all, he had been waiting nearly HALF A YEAR to tell her about his own little world away from what the media would have liked people to believe     –     &. what he would have wanted to tell people. ESPECIALLY her      –     &. something settled in the dragon master’s mind that she wouldn’t be too upset with news that made him smile when     ‘ her ‘     image popped CLEARLY into his mind’s eye. 

                      ❛ i’m glad to know that you would have     ‘ told ‘     me. but YES     –                                             i am talking about those kind of relationships     …     ❜ 

               did the temperature in the room seem to rise or was that his own face BLUSHING through what he had to say      ( this was harder than he had thought &. suddenly roles were SWITCHED when he was the one fidgeting in his seat. )

          This little champion was far too busy with her own adventures to have any interest in boys, outside of those in the platonic sense, Even then, the poor girl was too dense to realize if someone were flirting or hitting on her and she had probably turned down so many potential suitors without even realizing. For a moment, Kotone watched the man with a confused expression. He was acting kind of weird, not weird like his usual overbearingly cocky self, but weird as though he was nervous to tell her whatever it was he had to say. ( Ah, the tables had turned indeed. ) A coy look came to the girl’s face and she pulled her legs up onto the couch, turning to face Lance. She peered at him with the biggest grin. 

          “So.... are you saying that you’re in a ~romantic~ relationship?”

          he couldn’t even hide the amusements to dance along against the CURVES of his lips at the slight anxiety to cross her own expression. not to say that he liked it, but it was just a tad bit funny to him     ( must have been a DAD thing, if he could say so himself! )     but smiles softened &. hand beckoned her closer &. pat the seat right next to him on a couch that seemed too soft to sit on.     – maybe he was getting a little nervous too! 

                     ❛ relax     …     you’ve got nothing to worry about in the slightest. NOR are you in trouble     –     we just need to have a little discussion concerning     …     some of my relationships     ( because i KNOW you would have told me as soon as possible if you had any, right? )     ❜

          Okay, but Lance could say she wasn’t in trouble all he wanted, but it sure did seem like she was about to sit in the hot seat. His smile did seem to help calm her nerves some and she relaxed enough to go and sit next to him on the couch he so eagerly gestured for her to join him on. So Kotone closed the gap between them and settled down on the couch (oh, so soft), choosing not to answer his question until she was comfortably seated. Really, she just wanted to make him sweat it a little, kind of like how she was. Maybe she had a relationship, maybe she didn’t... More like she didn’t.

           “Of course, I would have told you!” Kotone felt like she knew were this conversation was going now and she felt much, much better. “You’re talking about... romantic relationships, right? I’m not in one of those.”
