I truly enjoy how much Animorphs is like “here are our young heroes, each with a distinctive trope to fill in the group!” And then it makes you watch how the pressure of each person’s role grinds them to dust. And also they have homework.

Yeah they're students. If they don't keep their grades up or if they miss too many classes (or miss classes at suspicious times) then they risk drawing the attention of the faculty and/or their parents, some of whom are the enemy and some of whom can just make future espionage a whole lot harder. There are multiple missions where they're like "okay, this is incredibly time sensitive but it'll take a full day or longer so it has to wait for the weekend and we'll have to all lie to our parents about sleeping over at each others' houses. It's gonna have to be done at the last minute because we've gotta go to class. Also, remember to get that English paper finished, we can NOT afford to have you grounded right now."

Maurice rolls up to the hospital to dump their grub on a human family in Glass Shard Beach, but the intended base is stillborn. Maurice is panicking because there is not enough time to find and research a new family- grub is gonna hatch Today. Finds the bassinet of the only other baby that was borned today in this tiny town and. Thats a horse- or mostly one, anyway. Fuck. But Ford is already hatching in his arms, and- what. Well- yea okay, there is some human vibes off this horse, but are you really gonna- okay. Sure. Be human-ish, works for Maurice. Better for camouflage in the outside word anyway. Doesnt even notice the six fingers at first

Or the opposite, where Stan sees human-ish Ford baby and turns into a horse. Maurice is so frazzled what can they even do with this.

I love Horse Stan. He's the gift that keeps giving.

Either way is just. SO funny. Either Maurice sees their spawn look at a horse and turn into a visibly human baby, or looks at what appears to be a human baby and turns into a horse. No time to even try to figure out how to fix that, because this is a hospital, and these are babies, and either way they're gonna have people coming in to check on the Pines latest abomina- bundle of joy. Bundles and oh someone must have messed up the paperwork but its fine and-

And Maurice has to let this happen. They have to step back and watch whatever is going on go on. Pulls Stan aside early in his youth to get him an education and teach him how to have hands. This is the most hands on they've been with any of their spawn and they hate every second of it. Stan's so obviously a talking horse and it should be so many red flags but the Pines being (literal) horse people means he can just. Get away with this. Get away with being a talking horse.

On the flip side, they have no idea how to feel about their human shaped spawn and his base, the talking horse. Its the best disguise any shapeshifter has ever had and what even is this. This is some kind of mockery to shapeshifters everywhere. They shouldn't have been allowed to get away with this, and yet they are.

Every universe where Maurice exists on the Pines radar is a universe where they're suffering.

It genuinely does mean so much to me that All Might lived, and he wanted to live. Like being able to see a character so passively suicidal, who knew that his own death was coming soon yet did nothing to change its outcome, decide he wanted to keep on living? To decide that he would continue to live? And actually be able to live? Also subverting the trope of the old mentor dying after passing on all he could to his student in the progress, and ending up old and retired and happy. It's just so beautiful to see
