This part of the trailer makes me really sad.

Steven is rushing to turn off the tape Rose left for him. People have analysed this tape to death, trying to find SOME deeper meaning (hell, even Steven did that one episode). But to me, I don’t think there’s any deeper meaning to it aside from a mother trying her hardest to let her child know she loves him. It isn’t Pink Diamond, the brat who made bad choices. It isn’t Rose Quartz, leader of the rebellion.

It’s a mother. A mother who wanted to bring her son into the world so he could experience the joys and sorrows of life. A mother who knew she would never be able to meet her child, so she left something behind for him to know her. Not from stories, but from her mouth directly.

But after all that’s happened, Steven seems to reject his mother completely. It’s only natural to be conflicted, but I’m worried that he thinks she never loved him at all. Despite all the horrible things, Steven should be able to look back on that tape and know that Rose loved him. But he doesn’t.

I’m really excited about SU future, and I hope this is something that gets explored more in the series!!
