GoodtimeswithScar, Cowboy AUs, and Horses
I'm a big horse guy, I love thinking about and messing with horses- and making AUs is no exception. When I got into the Life Series/Hermitcraft(-ish), I wanted to represent Scar's disability like many other AUs- and fandom interpretation- do.
I began to look more into parapalegic equestrianism, and found a treasure trove of valuable information to make any cowboy or horse-aligned AU all the more inclusive of Scar designs that use wheelchairs or canes (or any other steam-punky assistive devices I've seen).
First off, The horse.
This is an excellent situation where one really doesnt require a certian breed standard to be met in order for this AU to work. Any horse will do, with only maybe a temperment or height check to keep things in line. Horses can spook at wheelchairs, and, in a AU that has more steampunky elements, become nervous around the hissing steam of pipes and wires, so a calm horse (maybe an older one, or one that is incredibley well trained) is in order.
What comes to mind distinctly was a Tiktok I saw months ago about a trainer and their horse, who had been taught to bow so their rider with physical limitations did not have to throw a high leg or jump up to be able to ride. (Although with further research along the lines of actually teaching a horse to bow, I found an article where a poor woman had taught her horse so well every time the farrier would come and pick up her hoof she would go into a bow without cue.) A bowing horse- or maybe even one who lays down on command- is a helpful addition to Cowboy Scar's arsenal.
In another line, if he uses a wheelchair in your AU and is a bit of a traveler, look for a more endurance-aligned horse to be able to shoulder the weight of Scar's chair. An average horse can carry 20% percent of their body weight comfortably. I would look more towards wider, stronger horses- if they are, of course, available in your AU.
No matter your AU's Scar's opinion on horses- whether he loves or hates them- it is almost vital that his relationship with his horse is specifically special. He might not be all crazy for every horse out there, but it's good for him to have HIS horse, one who understands him without words, one who is connected to him by seemingly beyond souls. I'm talking SPECIAL SPECIAL.
Second, the tack
This is a more indepth part, where there are differences between english and western and the type of AU you're going for can make the direct answer look more like a shopping mall of tack selection.
The Classic Cowboy AU
Whether your Scar is a gunslinging sheriff, a lonesome cowboy, or a snake oil salesman- His tack is probably always going to be westerned aligned, usually simple and rawhide. The issue with Western Saddles and a man in a wheelchair or using a cane- especially if he's toting around said wheelchair on whatever quirky adventure he's going on- is that they are BIG. They are CLUNKY. Part of them is made of WOOD for heaven's sake. I'm completely abled and I have trouble carrying them sometimes. A good solution to this problem is opting for a freer, bareback style of riding. Although requiring a good sense of balance, it can be assissted by a bareback pad, or even a saddle blanket simply draped over the back of his beloved partner in cowboy crime.
2. English-Centric Aus
Now I know that sounds... weird. No, we're not turning Scar British- but along the style of English riding... Personally- he seems the more savvy owner type, a guy who admires horses from the sidelines, focused more on the economy of his gold-leafed stud barns. If he had to ride, it'd probably be one of thoser custom made english saddles, like the one this woman uses to ride:
3. Racing
He's too tall to be a jockey, but he has- like I said- a savvy buisnessman feel about him. He'd be an awesome owner... I think.
Admittedly, My knowledge is mostly cowboy-centric, and also most I had to say about, but in general I hope this is a good overview on horses and Scar. Thanks! I love Horse Racing- but that's a topic for another day.
Ok, as your resident cowboy enjoyer and person who works at a shoe store take hermitcraft*+ but what cowboy boots they would wear. Don't ask why just accept this
Please please can we join forces and deck out all the hermits. Shirts, hats, pants, gear, horses. The whole 9 yards
They must all become cowboys
let’s cowboy-ify them…. Together….

I just wanna say your art brings me such unfathomable joy, if it is alright, not a request but just a note, i love love LOVE how you draw him in polish attire, and itd be so fun to see more styles, like the Ukrainian attire. Your art has a particular cold mossy green hue to it, an its so interesting to me. Its not COLD cold, but its just enough to make a scene feel lacking of the sun, or warmth of the surroundings on purpose. Its like a soothing cloudy day :]
You dont have to reply to this or anything, i just wanted to comment on it an say that your art is amazing, an thank you for making it! Please have a lovely day/night/time!
yeah sure. just for you. thank you for the kind words :) (<- tries not to explode from excitement)
Cherri said she'd love to draw Maidtyn but only if you ask her to draw it, we haven't had a Maidtyn Monday in a while, maybe we need to do it again and have some art for it *Nudge* *Nudge* *Wink* *Wink*
It's time Cherri, victory bonus?

me finding deeper meaning in etho slowly spending more time with the clockers and less with ties and explaining how the story is perhaps leading up to a moment where etho embraces and chooses his family over his team while knowing full well that etho ethoslab is allergic to deeper narratives
*makes really obscure au*
tbh more people need to read guardians of gahoole. or just watch the movie....... it changed me forever
Everything I do is for you
Yeah I'm not sorry about this
TANGOTEK - CAROLINA DOG
My name is Tangotek (Tango for short)! I'm a six year old Carolina dog looking for a forever home! I'm shy at first- I will need time to warm up to people or other pets, usually over a long introductory period. I do best with other dogs, but I get agressive with dogs that are smaller than me, or if they do not respect my boundries. I'm well trained from my previous family, but they ended up having to give me up because I have a lot of energy. I do best in a small family with lots of things to do, and a big place to run around! I don't bark, but I will growl. I am extremely loyal to my person, and will follow them anywhere they go! If I seem like the right dog for you, cool!
The way my limlife universe pans out Joel and Jimmy are both in their mid twenties and their youngest half-brother is Grian. Who’s depending on the situation, seven or seventeen. (He’s probably having some age fluctuations due to the… unusual situation he’s in.) THATS RIGHT, WE’RE THE BAD BOYS. BAD BOYS DONT LEAVE ANYONE BEHIND!!!! <- Joel “Dad boys” Bad Boy.
Anyways they’ve been stuck at the kiddie table all twenty-ish years of their life. But hey, at least Etho is too.

scott is clearly just too good. none of the server can take him in limited life, even teaming up - and the person who would probably be most useful in taking him down is on his team. scott's won two life smps and is well on his way to winning his third (of four!)
so a new rule is needed. scott should only be paired with people who will handicap him.
my proposed list:
jimmy (historically proven to nerf him)
skizz (bad)
scar (scar)
etho (washed up)
joel (reckless)
grian (convinces those around him to be reckless)
gem (is too good at pvp, so putting her and scott together would get them killed immediately because the entire server would have to team up against them like they were a boss fight)
hysterical that cleo appears to have explained nothing to gem other than “scar is my favorite son”, judging by how repeatedly gem says that,
ethoslab. you agree. reblog.
cleo is a comedic genius. setting up the etho is washed up thing in one episode and then subbing in the player who beat him in pvp 20 times in a row
