Bonfire Night

First holiday of the school year - Labor Day and Chadwick was incredibly bored! Never on his life did he wished that he actually had classes to go to. He flopped on his bed and let out a frustrated groan. Like any other day, Chadwick’s brain hopped, skipped, jumped and twirled its way to an idea. Slowly, he got up and began dialing someone, “Hey, bonfire tonight at Lake Fantasia?”

Anita was ahead of her class work for once. For the first time in three weeks she felt as though she actually could have some fun, so when her phone rang, she grinned. It was Chad, so there had to be some sort of social event involved. “Hey Chad! Yeah, that sounds awesome, I’ll see if Roger wants to tag along too before I head down!”

Isn’t it sad that we have to already? It’s barely September! I do hope so though. I mean, it will make our career goals come true at least. Besides being buried in homework, how are you?

Right! It’s so sad.. You’re right, though, it should all be worth it because it’s mostly relevant to what we want to do, but at the same time the extra work outside of the class can get a little unnecessary, that’s for sure. But I’m good! Trying to keep up with my social life in the midst of it all. How about you??

I feel like I’m really going to love my classes this semester. They keep getting harder as I go, but that just means it will be more worthwhile in the end, right? How is everyone else faring? 

I know what you mean. I love them, but I feel like I’m already feeling the burn, and by looking at the syllabus for each class, I know I’m in for a rough one, but like you said, it’ll be worth it!

“That’s fair. I mean, I know you need your space from time to time. I like to think that I have gotten fairly good at reading your moods” he grinned as he tugged her gently down the street again when something caught her eye and he realized her brain was still looking for inspirations and working through design ideas. “You spend too much time in your own head ya know?” He teased her as he pulled her away.

“You have! You’ve gotten really good.” she told him with a smile, “And I like to give you your space to work as well.” she looked over at him and a few short moments later she stopped to look towards something. She wasn’t entirely sure what she was searching for, but she knew she was looking for some sort of new inspiration. It wasn’t until Roger tugged at her hand before she realized she had actually stopped. “Oh? Hm?” she shook her head, “I know, I know I do.. I need to work on that..”

Roger grinned at the kiss to his cheek before following her toward the door, grabbing her around the waist. “I should hope I’m your favorite person since you’re dating me and living with me” he teased her with a smile and a kiss to the temple. “Now, lets go find some ice cream” he said to her as he released her from his arms and took her hand in his.

“Well, yeah, that is a pretty dead set giveaway, because living with other people isn’t exactly my favorite thing to do, but so far so good here.” she teased him with a smirk, but it was true, she did value her alone time. She laced her fingers with his as she opened the door with her free hand and headed out of their apartment.

Roger was in the other room, tinkering away with his instruments and trying to compose a new work for class but he was quickly losing steam as he had been working straight through for the last few hours. He smiled when he heard his name from the other room and stopped playing, getting up and heading into the other room with a smile. “Ice cream sounds delicious my dear. Now, up so we can go” he teased her, grabbing for her hand to tug her up to her feet.

She smiled when she saw Roger appear and reach down to get her up. She grabbed his hand and with his help pulled herself up to her feet. “You’re without a doubt my favorite person.” she stood on her tip toes for a moment so she could plant a kiss on his cheek before slipping into her shoes.

“Perfect! I was thinking Chinese.. I’m kind of craving some chicken and rice. And yay! The library will be so much better with someone else there..”

“Wanna join me for dinner? I’m starving.. and then I need to go to the library to do a little research for a project if you’re down for a little study/work sesh after.. But I won’t be offended if that part isn’t enticing.” she laughed.

I definitely understand about being alone.  But sometimes you just need another person.  Bounce ideas off of them.  As long as they don’t distract you and prevent you from doing your work.  Having another artist around is perfect!  Even if we are different kinds of artist. 

Yes, some of my favorite inspiration actually comes from other artists, who use different mediums and techniques from me. Don’t get me wrong, I like people in my classes, but sometimes it’s nice t o hang out with people studying different art.
