Well, I think is it better to speak or to die is, on the face of it, prettystraightforward. I think it can betaken quite literally as not meaning much more than the surface interpretation of is it better to tell someone you lovethem or not? What will the consequencesbe? Obviously the parallels of the taleto Elio and Oliver’s feelings are the whole point of why the tale is includedin the book/film. But of course, we can pick it apart a little and find some more interesting stuff too.
