What is an EPR Certificate ?
EPR is an abbreviation for Extended Producer’s Responsibility. EPR Certificate is required for Indian manufacturers, importers, Brand owners, Recyclers, Refurbishes of E-waste management products, Plastic packaging products and Batteries & Battery containing products. Electronic and electrical products such as laptops, computers, telephones, printers, washing machines, batteries, chargers, and many others require EPR authorization.
EPR Certificate means accepting the responsibility of dealing with electronic waste. That is why, in addition to electronic companies, EPR certificate is used for plastic waste and is appropriate for E-waste management companies, which specifically manage electronic waste.
The E.P.R. Authorization delegates the responsibility to producers/importers of properly disposing or recycling post-consumer E-waste in accordance with the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. The term E.P.R. refers to an environmental and economic approach to managing a product’s lifecycle.
It includes prevention, proper disposal, and systematic recycling. There are primarily three types of authorization, namely
IMPORT AUTHORIZATION
MANUFACTURING AUTHORIZATION
WHOLESALE AUTHORIZATION
