Coronado Beach, California
2013
it was liberating
it will be a weightless summer.
I've never associated the sea with summertime. Probably because I have always lived in cities surrounded by water- water was always there, no matter the season. Water was more than something you bathed in during hot weather, it was integrated into your day-to-day life. I grew up surrounded by water. The cool breeze, the seagull screams and the rustling waves have been my home away from home. The absence of sea was what made me loathe Tours. Last summer in Istanbul, the daily ferry ride I had to make for my internship easily became my favorite part of the day; it was my 20 minute relief in the chaotic pace of the city. During my first year in Vancouver, I would religiously run to the cliffs overlooking Wreck beach and sit down there for at least half an hour. The sea is my peace. That's why I am so happy I have this picture of you, Mari. It has always been one of my favorite pictures, now it will forever capture your memory. May you rest in peace.
it's very misty tonight.
letting go of my vanity- a portrait of mile.
