Anna: I'm sorry I didn't get home last night. I woke up in a hotel room, and I'm not sure how I got here...
Sister's Night | Mia and Anna
After a moment, Mia watched her sister’s face change from horror, to some kind of acceptance, as she started glancing around the room. Just as she was wondering what she was looking for, she spoke. “They want a party? We’ll give them a party,” She was a bit surprised (or a lot), by her sisters words. She knew that her sister was a drinker, and that she had been out to parties, but she found her new found personality a bit strange. She watched as her sister took off her jacket, and started moving away from the table. Her eyes turned big as she noticed for the first time what Anna was wearing. Maybe she was too caught up in her own little world to take notice of it before, or maybe it was just because she had a jacket on. Either way, she gave her sister high praises for the seriously hot outfit.
She decided that she didn’t look so bad herself, as the topic of clothes had her mind straying to her own outfit. She had decided to pick nothing but cute outfits, knowing that she was going to be staying at Gabe’s. She wasn’t exactly sure if she liked him yet, but she definitely had the urge to impress. Today, she had picked black skinny jeans, with rhinestones completely covering them, a subtle pink ruffled shirt, and a white crop jacket. She was pretty pleased with herself, figuring that she dressed appropriately for the occasion, and that it was basically rated as hot as Annabelle’s outfit. Her mind was astray for a long time, and it took her a few minutes before she jumped back to the present, scanning the room for Anna.
She found her about twenty feet off, positioned extremely close to the guy with the Vodka. Typical, breathing out a short laugh, as she scanned other parts of the room. She pulled her phone out, seriously considering telling Gabe to come, but then deciding against it. She shot a quick glance towards her sister, right before all of their glances turned towards her. She then made it a mission to flirtatiously wave, and purse her lips together. It wasn’t long before her mind was back in the gutter, and back on Gabe. She didn’t want it to mean more than what it was to invite him. Because, truthfully, she didn’t even know what “it” was. Putting her phone away, she looked up in just enough time to see Anna coming back, having successfully gotten the alcohol, though Mia didn’t expect anything less. They were quite the team when they put their minds to it.
She put an are you kidding me, who are you and what did you do with my sister, look on her face, although she wasn’t as surprised as she could have been. No one is as perfect as they seem all of the time. “You wanted a party.” This got a big laugh out of her, as she shrugged. ”You’re right. I did. I guess we’re both learning new things about each other. Nice work.” Mia nodded her approval, debating on a high-five, but Anna was already putting the bottle on the table, and walking off. Mia moved to grab it, only taking a small sip. Though she did like to drink, don’t get her wrong, she didn’t like to do it in huge crowds of people like this. She liked to be perfectly in control of herself, just in case she needed to be. It had always been her responsible side coming out, being proof that she had one.
She rolled her eyes as Anna found some hot guy to dance with, and started retreating in the opposite direction. She spotted someone sitting all by themself at a table, and decided she would talk to them. It was her job to be social, and this girl looked like she needed some cheering up to Mia. She sat down, smiling, and introducing herself. She got the whole scoop on this girls (Who’s name was Hanna, so she was told), slimy boyfriend, who had been drunk, and dancing with some other girl for the passed hour. She shook her head, disgustingly, and then a light bulb went off in her head. She smiled triumphantly, cueing the girl to follow her.
She walked up being totally casual, to the alleged boyfriend, and tapped him on the shoulder. He whisked around to look at her, and she noticed that he was trying to see down her shirt. “Whoa, you’re hot.” She stared at him in awe, and couldn’t believe that that lovely girl would be with someone like him. She smiled, leaning in close like she was going to kiss him or something like that. But, that was far from what she was going to do. She slowly took his drink out of his hand, and proceeded to poor it all over his head, giving him a hard kick to the leg. “You digust me.” She gave him a nasty look, and then turned to his girlfriend, smiling with an expression of sorrow. “You deserve better,” She called over her shoulder, as she retreated back to her table.
Anna was dancing with some random guy she had found, and the sip she had taken from the bottle was starting to have its effect. She was feeling dizzy and everything was blurry. But, she didn't care at all. In fact, she wanted more. "Come here," she said to the guy and grabbing his hand she dragged him to the table where she had left the bottles. Mia was nowhere to be found but she figured she could take care of herself and sooner than later she will see her somewhere around the party. Grabbing the bottle and taking another sip, she felt better. The sip was too big for her mouth and some of the Vodka got all over her chin and some on her neck. As she wiped it off with her hand, she offered the bottle to the guy. He took it, got a little sip and gave it back.
Once more, she took his hand and dragged him to the dance floor, while she held the bottle in the other hand. If Aaron was going to be all cold and distant and not caring, so would she. Maybe this guy was going to take advantage of her later when she was drunk enough, and honestly she didn't care. Well, she did care and she didn't want to do anything she would regret in the morning, and she wasn't going to let anything like that happen. But for now, she was just going to enjoy the moment. Taking another sip from the bottle, she got closer to the boy and started to dance provocatively and flirty.
By this point, Anna was not in control of herself anymore. Going to a table, she threw everything that was on top of it to the floor, and climbed up. The boy followed her and now everyone was staring at them. They were the center of the party. Boys took turns climbing up to dance with her, and with every single one of them she dance differently. Provocative and flirty, but differently. The song ended and she didn't like the one that came next. "Help me get off this table," she said extending her hand to the boy. He took it and put the other hand on her waist to help her get down. She headed to the DJ's corner, determined to change the music. "Hey handsome," she said to him flashing a smile. "I don't like this song at all, and you don't want me to get bored, do you?" she said winking and then walked away. Instantly, the song changed.
Anna smiled to herself, proud of her work and then turned to the boy. "Hey love? Why don't we get more Vodka?" she said to the guy as soon as they (and more she than him) were done with the first one. He nodded and move towards the table, Amelia still MIA. The boy, who's name was something like Marco or Carlos or Damon, took the bottle from the table and was going to drink, but Anna wasn't going to let anyone drink before herself. "Dude? Ladies first, hasn't your mom taught you that?" she said grabbing the bottle from his hand and moving it to her mouth. And that was it. She could barely stand up without tumbling, and the sip she had just taken made her fall down.
"Shit!" she muttered, but instead sounded like a word from another planet. "Hey! Are you okay?" the boy asked but Anna was too dizzy to know how she was. "I think I need to go to the bathroom," she said. The boy helped her stand up and sat her in a chair. Anna could hear someone mumbling behind her but she was not sure who it was, and she/he was talking to the boy. "Help me get her to the bathroom, I think she said that. I don't understand a word she's saying," the boy was telling the other person and then four hands were on her arms and two boys at her sides, carrying her towards the bathroom.
Anna didn't throw up. She sat on the bathroom floor and cried, while the boy was waiting for her outside. When she got out, he decided he was going to leave the party and taking it with her, and at that point it was the only thing she wanted. To get out of that lame party. She thought about telling Mia she was leaving, but she saw her concentrated on her phone or talking on the phone, she wasn't sure, and decided not to bother her and text her later. So, she accepted to get out with the boy and took his hand to help her support her weight. When they were in the car, she took out her phone and texted Amelia explaining. Only, except of writing what she wanted, the text read "Mos. i;k goinf euth fhis boy domerhe, tonf woryy. - Ahhe"
Sister's Night | Mia and Anna
Mia stared Anna down, knowing something was up. “I’m perfect. Was that a text from Gabe? I bet it caused that smile, Mia,” She praised her sister for her wonderful skills of trying to change the subject, and she was totally onto her game, but she decided to let it go. Anna had chosen the right subject in her attempt to take the spotlight off of herself, and Mia was now trying to make herself look calm, cool, and collected regarding the whole matter. She shrugged, laughing. “Oh, yeah. I’m just missing the best part of the movie is all.” She took a look around, that was very casual, as she took a sip of her Latte. The fact was, she was proud of herself for being able to play it off the way she did. Because, there was no denying that she felt a bit of a spark when it came to Gabe…
“So, what are we sitting around here for?” Mia got down the last of her Latte, and got up swiftly from the table, tossing it out. “Let’s go.” She led the way out the door, even though she had no idea where they were going. She figured that she would just go with it, and they could show up at the first place they saw that looked interesting. She kind of wanted to go back to Gabe’s, because she actually really did want to see the end of the movie, but she knew that Anna wouldn’t want to do that. They walked a little further down the road, until they came across a party that someone from Constance was throwing.
She turned to her sister, raising her eyebrows, in a way to ask her if they should go. She had been to plenty of these things before, and it was never anything too special from the last one to the next one, but someone always got into a fight, and that never failed to be entertaining. Since Anna wasn’t answering her right away, she figured that she didn’t have any better ideas, so she grabbed her arms, and dragged her to the entrance. Getting inside without invitations was a piece of cake, and they took a seat at a table. “So, what do you want to do? Wait for a fight to start, or find a creative way to get one started?” She asked, completely cracking up as she saw the horrified expression on her sisters face. Anna had thought she had never been exposed to parties or alcohol, just because she was the youngest. And, she realized that this was the first time her sister had even known she had done things like this.
Annabelle had picked the perfect subject to change the spotlight from herself to her sister, and she knew it when she started talking about some movie they were watching and the end she was going to miss. Then, out of nowhere she threw out her latte after finishing it. “So, what are we sitting around here for?” Anna was about to answer but her sister was already leading the way to the door. "Let's go." She followed and although she had no idea where they were going, she appreciated the fresh air. Mia hadn't said anything about her outfit yet and she wasn't so sure why, but she wasn't going to make a scene over it, because this night was all about keeping the spotlight off herself, at least for a while.
Spotting a Constance party, Anna kind of wished she was alone and she was invited. Getting in was not going to be a problem, but Mia was. She didn't want her sister exposed to that kind of atmosphere that formed around the parties, and when she saw her raise her eyebrows at her as a way of asking, Anna was speechless. Mia took her silence as a yes and started towards the entrance. At first, she didn't follow her, but then she figured why not? Mia was already old enough to make her own decisions, and if she had to show her how to party, she was going to. So she followed her after customizing a little bit her outfit. If she was going to be seen at a Constance party, she might as well follow her mother's legacy when she was a high school girl.
Getting in was easy. They were the Basses girls, and many people considered them royalty. Once they were inside, people stared at them as they were searching for a table. “So, what do you want to do? Wait for a fight to start, or find a creative way to get one started?” Blinking fast as if trying to make sure it was her sister's mouth the one that had said that, Anna was terrified. How could her little sister be like this? For God's sake, it was her little sister, not some random girl! But well, Mia had always been kind of a rebel, and just thinking that she had never been exposed to alcohol or parties was just denying reality. Shaking her head and fluffing her hair, Anna moved to her sister. Examining the room, she spotted the corner where the booze was and the people that had it. All boys. Perfect.
"They want a party? We'l give them a party," she said to her sister while taking off her jacket. Blinking at her, she stood up and walked to where the guys were. People always underestimated her and took her for an angel, someone she really wasn't. She could act like someone completely different from who she was depending on what the situation demanded, and that made her like her mother in any possible way. Not that she liked it but she enjoyed being different people with different personalities. The real her was not as confident and party girl but not as smart and little miss perfect.
When she got over to where the boys were, she knew exactly what to do to get what she wanted. "Hey boys.. I was wondering.. Well, you know who I am, don't you?" As she said this, one of her hands was curling a strand of her with her finger, and the other one was on the boy's (who's name she hadn't learned) shoulder, caressing it. "You-you are, um, Annabelle Bass," the boy said in awe, while the other 2 boys stared at them in disbelief. "Yes I am," she said getting closer to him. The boy was literally melting underneath her touch, and she could sense it. Flashing the biggest flirty smile she perfectly managed and batting her eyelashes, she knew she was going to get anything she wanted, not only from this boy but from everyone else in the party.
"And over there," she said pointing at Mia, "my sister Amelia is waiting for me. So, if I could only have this bottle of Vodka, maybe some more of them, you don't know how much I'd love you for it." The was practically all over her, and as soon as she had mentioned the bottle he was ripping it from his friend's hands and giving it to her. Accomplishing what she had went there to do, she backed away from the boy and smiled. "Thank you," she said winking at him and turning around once to blow him a kiss. When she got to the table again, it was her sister's turn to have the horror face. "You wanted a party," she told her explaining herself while opening the bottle. Taking the biggest sip she could manage, she left the bottle on the table and went to find a boy to dance with.
Sister's Night | Mia and Anna
Mia wished she could do something to help her sister. They were both kicked out, but she knew that it was Anna who got the worst end of it. Although that their mother couldn’t legally kick her out just yet, she clearly didn’t seem to care about the law. Mia knew that she was nowhere near eighteen yet, and that’s why she had been allowed back. Though she could, she didn’t. She had marched right in, gotten a few of her things to tide her over at Gabes, and left. She had so much shit going on in her life lately, that her mom hadn’t even stopped to ask her about, and it pissed her off. Here her mother was, so caught up in her own mess, she cared more about her problems than her own daughter. Mia was absolutely repulsed, and she didn’t even want to be under the same roof as her.
As she was sitting at Gabes, watching a movie with him, Anna texted her wanted to go out. She quickly agreed, and got up, hugging Gabe goodbye. As she walked down the street to meet her sister, she couldn’t help that her mind wandered back to the hug. God, he’s cute, she thought silently to herself. But she refused to let her mind go there. She was fully aware that he was Alivia’s ex, and there was no way he would like anyone else so soon. She picked up her pace, wondering where her Dad was, and why he hadn’t talked to her. She had been closer to him and Anna lately, more than anyone in the family, and he hoped that he would take their side. But she wasn’t betting on it.
As she walked inside the Coffee shop, waving to Dina, (The old lady that owns the place, like a wise Grandma figure to Mia), she took her usually seat in the back by the window. She pulled out her phone and checked it for messages, but Anna hadn’t texted her. So, she got comfortable and waited, getting her usual Pumpkin Spice Latte (That she had been recently getting on the house from Dina, oh, the perks of being close with an owner of a place, that sold her favorite thing on Earth). She looked around at the walls, admiring the new lights that were up for the holidays.
That was when it hit her, that it was extremely possible she would be celebrating Thanksgiving with Gabe’s family, not her own. She scrunched her lips together, considering this, and could honestly say that it was just the way it looked like it had to be. Finally, she got a message. She whipped her phone out quickly, except, it wasn’t her sister. It was Gabe. Hurry back…I mean, only because you’re missing the best part and stuff, is what it read. Then, before she had time to react, Anna was there, scrambling through the door. She got a smile that was so big her cheeks hurt, as she shoved her phone in her pocket. “Hey, took you long enough.” She got up from the table, hugging Anna, and then gave her a concerned look. “You okay?”
Annabelle wiped her tears as she read her sister wanted to go out with her. She had been crying about everything that had happened lately. Her mom had kicked her out because she had stood up for Aaron when he needed her, and she had nowhere to go. True, she was offered to stay at Gabe's for a while but she was not so much into the idea, because until yesterday he didn't know him at all, and no one needed to deal with her right now. She had gotten into this mess on her own, and she had to get out the same way. Alone.
Thins with Aaron weren't so good, and even though he had told her he loved her, she felt something was wrong. He had been distant and cold, and he had offered the place for the night but that was it. A night out was what she needed and Mia was up to it, and just for a moment that had brightened her day. But as fast as it had lighted up it had darkened again, and she was not so sure why. Maybe she was just having a bad day - or bad week was more like it - and a few drinks would probably make her feel better. She knew she couldn't take Amelia for drinks, so she figured she would go alone after hanging out with her sister.
Quickly she had re-done her make up trying to cover the puffy eyes that her crying had caused, and knowing she was late she picked up the first nice outfit she could find: a tight gold dress that appeared to be painted on her body, black heels and a black jacket. Maybe Amelia would find it weird, but the outfit was meant to impress after coffee or whatever it was they were going to do. She was going to show Aaron what he was missing, and nothing was going to stop her. Running out the door, she grabbed her purse and started towards the coffee shop.
When she got there, Amelia had the biggest smile ever. She had just put her cellphone into her pocket, and Anna knew a text - probably from Gabe - had caused that smile. She did her biggest effort to force the best smile to convince Mia nothing was wrong, but didn't accomplish it. “Hey, took you long enough. You okay?” Her sister had her ways of knowing things, but she could also be distracted easily. "I'm perfect. Was that a text from Gabe? I bet it caused that smile, Mia," she said smiling at her. And just like that, all the attention on her was gone.
Text to Aaron
Anna: Aar, I'm going out with Mia, so I'll come over a little bit late. Hope you don't mind.
Text to Amelia
Mia: You're good at school, you're good at being a sister, and you're good at loving people, even when they don't deserve it. You don't need anything else. You can handle a job.
Anna: Aww Mia. Thanks. I feel like I need to get out tonight before going to Aaron's... Should we have a sister night?
Text to Amelia
Mia: It's not rocket science, Anna. You've got this. You're also crazy. You're good at everything.
Anna: Mention anything I'm good at... And I guess I can manage it. Its'just serving coffee, isn't it?
Text to Amelia
Mia: Well..I can talk to the nice lady that works at my favorite Coffee shop? She's hiring right now. Always says she would hire me if I was sixteen for knowing the whole menu, but I could get you an interview?
Anna: Sure.. Although I really don't know how to do anything. I've realized that I have no talents. I hope I can manage it.
Text to Annabelle
Aaron: Alright, I'm sorry I couldn't help more.
Anna: No problem.
Text to Amelia
Mia: No no, don't go to a hotel. If you don't here from him, just come over. His parents wouldn't turn you away.
Anna: Mia, I really have to start responding for myself, so I'll just get a job and until I can afford an apartment I'll go to a hotel. Aaron said it was okay for me to stay tonight, so I'm going over there. Thank you anyways, sis.
Text to Annabelle
Aaron: Hey, babe. My roommates said that they're cool with tonight, but that longer than that is pushing it..they don't want "gushy crap" constantly.
Anna: Okay.. I guess I'll get a job or something. I'm just gonna go grab a few things and I'll be over there in about an hour or so. Say thanks for me while I get there.
Text to Amelia
Mia: There's nothing going on...yet. He is kind of cute, though. You aren't going to annoy me, but Gabe's parents would need to be okay with it.
Anna: Don't worry. I'll wait for Aaron and if he doesn't answer then I think I'll go to some hotel or well wherever I can afford anyway.
Text to Amelia
Mia: Yeah, but I just went back to get some of my things. Gabe's parents know the situation, and I'm gonna sleep on the couch. I don't want to deal with it right now. Why?
Anna: I was just wondering, because I have nowhere to go, and I have no money. Aaron said he was going to talk to his roommates but I haven't heard from him either.
Anna: And I don't know what's going on between you and Gabe, so I don't wanna intrude. Besides if I stay anymore I feel like I'l annoy you.
Text to Amelia
Anna: Mia? Did mom let you in again?
Aaron is leaving town. He doesn't love you.
Who the hell are you to say that? You don't know him. You don't know us.
Text to Aaron
Aaron: Well..maybe you could talk to a different family member? Tell them the situation? She's required to support you until your 18, Annabelle. She can't just throw you out.
Anna: I only know my aunt Delilah and I haven't heard from her in a long time. And she really threw me out, you don't know how she can be. But don't worry. I'll talk to my sister or something since you don't understand Aaron.
Text to Aaron
Aaron: We'll figure it out. It's not like I lost everything when I had to leave, it was for Lacrosse. I still have my place. I doubt your mom is going to leave you with nowhere to go, but I'll talk to my roommates. You have a place, for a few days at least, if you need it.
Anna: Aaron, my mom kicked me out for good. I'm not even allowed inside the building. And she cut every way I had of getting money so I'm basically broke.
